Patrick Stewart, Dolly Parton, Dolores Huerta: The Allies We Lost (Bonus)
Friday, October 30, 2026 • Duration 13:19
This week, we’re sharing a bonus episode from Care More Be Better’s unfiltered sibling show, Care Less Be Worse: The Environmental News Rant. This version has been edited for language.
In 2026, we lost some of the people who made a better world feel possible, and in a single 24-hour stretch this week, we lost three of them. Corinna honors seven allies who spent their lives protecting the land, the animals, the workers, and the communities living in the shadow of smokestacks.
Anthony Head championed animal rescue alongside his late partner, animal welfare campaigner Sarah Fisher. Dolly Parton helped create a sanctuary for bald eagles and showed up for her neighbors when wildfires swept through the Smoky Mountains. Wendell Berry installed solar panels in coal country and protested strip mining well into his late seventies. Gloria Steinem reminded us that our movements are “linked, not ranked.” Patrick Stewart warned that our planet’s decline was accelerating and called for a new Star Trek to remind us what humanity could be. Dolores Huerta co-founded the United Farm Workers, fought for the people who feed us, and gave us “Sí se puede.” And Desmond D’Sa, the Goldman Prize-winning activist, spent more than 30 years fighting refinery pollution in South Durban, even after his home was firebombed.
This episode begins in grief and ends with a call to carry their work forward. As Dolores Huerta put it: don’t wait to be invited, step in. Election Day is Tuesday. Find your voting information at vote.gov.

Bonus: The Hidden Costs of Climate Change We All Pay (from Care Less Be Worse)
Thursday, October 29, 2026 • Duration 16:15
This week, we’re sharing a bonus episode from Care More Be Better’s unfiltered sibling show, Care Less Be Worse: The Environmental News Rant. This version has been bleeped for this feed.
SHOW NOTES:
Caring deeply about the world means getting angry sometimes, too. In this episode, Corinna gets personal about one of the least-covered costs of climate change: the bill that comes after the fire and the flood. She shares what it’s been like to live in the Santa Cruz Mountains since the CZU Lightning Complex in 2020, to watch friends lose their homes and their insurance, to have her home office flood three times during the atmospheric rivers of 2022 to 2023, and to see her fire insurance premium more than quadruple since 2009.
She also looks at this week’s king tide flooding in Marin, a potentially record-breaking El Niño, the latest California FAIR Plan rate hike, rising construction costs, the shrinking federal disaster safety net, and why so many homeowners still aren’t connecting their rising insurance bills to a warming planet.

Bonus: Introducing Care Less Be Worse
Saturday, October 24, 2026 • Duration 03:43
Care More Be Better has always been about hope: amplifying the scientists, activists, and changemakers building a more sustainable, regenerative future. That isn’t changing. New interviews will keep arriving here every week.
But caring deeply about the world also means getting angry about what’s happening to it. So I’ve launched a new companion show, Care Less Be Worse: The Environmental News Rant, a raw, unedited space where I take the gloves off about the news that’s wrecking our natural world and our communities. Environmental rollbacks, public lands on the auction block, a billionaire class racing to care less while the rest of us live with the consequences. If you’ve ever finished a news story wanting to scream, this show is for you.
In this bonus episode, you’ll hear the trailer that sets the tone for what’s coming. Fair warning: it’s explicit, and it’s meant to be. Care Less Be Worse is where I process the rage so that here, at Care More Be Better, we can keep focusing on solutions.

Less Bad Is Not Enough: David Gottfried On Regen360
Episode 307
Tuesday, October 20, 2026 • Duration 01:07:14
David Gottfried spent three decades proving that buildings can change how the world operates, and he has come to believe that is not nearly enough. The co-founder of the US Green Building Council and founder of the World Green Building Council watched his movement grow into a trillion-dollar economy, and he still sees the ship headed for the melting iceberg. In this conversation, he lays out the idea at the center of his book Regen360, an operating system for a regenerative Earth built on one question: does this choice increase life or degrade it? Along the way, David traces a thread from his father’s family-dinner lessons about net worth and self-worth to a third kind of wealth he calls soul worth, the part of us that survives the eulogy. He tells the story of falling off his bike on Mount Diablo and being pushed across the finish line by strangers, and what it taught him about the humility inside perseverance. He and Corinna also explore putting the E in humane, giving every part of yourself a seat at the table, and small choices anyone can make this week, from repairing instead of replacing to spending time outdoors with the people you love.

Can Tenure Be More Humane? Ethics Of Care With Dr. Shawntal Brown
Episode 306
Monday, October 12, 2026 • Duration 01:03:59
Shawntal Z. Brown once wore the burnt orange blazer and bought into every part of the institution she worked for. After being laid off in 2024 amid a shifting legislative landscape in Texas, she began writing about what that experience taught her, and the result is a Substack with one of the most honest titles in higher education: Loving an Institution That No Longer Loves You Back.
In this conversation, Shawntal and Corinna explore how belonging, power, and care play out inside universities, and why the tenure system, built to evaluate and rank people, struggles to center their humanity. They look at what a care-centered version of tenure might reward, including the community service that one professor was actually criticized for doing too much of. Shawntal shares what academic freedom looks like day to day in Texas, why DEI work is quietly moving underground rather than disappearing, and how to tell a symbolic gesture from structural change. Her answer is a task force that ends in a period when it should end in a comma.
The episode closes with a question for anyone who loves an institution that has not always loved them back: what is the cost, and what would it take to make these places more humane for the people inside them?

Is Eco-Capitalism an Oxymoron? A Report From the Field with Dr. Corinna Bellizzi
Episode 305
Wednesday, October 7, 2026 • Duration 37:31
Is eco-capitalism an oxymoron? In this solo episode, show host, Dr. Corinna Bellizzi, opens with big news: Care More Be Better has joined The Democracy Group podcast network. From there, she turns to a question that has followed her through her entire career. She steelmans the skeptic, who sees growth mandates and externalized costs as structural flaws no ethical CEO can outrun, and the believer, who sees commerce as a lever too fast and too powerful to abandon. Then she offers a report from the field: building Nordic Naturals into a $100 million market leader, the compromises that came with it, the ocean science that led her to walk away, and the algae-based work at Örlö Nutrition that shows what regeneration can look like when it is built into a company's structure. She closes with three votes every listener casts daily, as a consumer, a worker, and an investor.
00:00 Why Care More Be Better joined The Democracy Group, and why sustainability is a democratic question
04:47 Can Markets & Ecology Coexist?
05:51 The skeptic's case: growth mandates, externalities, and why "sustainable capitalism" so often means sustaining capitalism (and not regeneration)
08:22 Ben & Jerry's: the skeptic's case in a single pint. How Ben & Jerry's mission protections held for two decades after they sold, then unraveled under Unilever's shift to sectioning off their ice cream business under Magnum
11:17 The believer's case: B Corps, regenerative farms, Patagonia's ownership shift, and the speed of market change
15:10 Building Nordic Naturals with founder Joar Opheim, and the compromises even responsible companies make
18:18 Examples of compromises: Fisheries, dolphins, PET plastic
20:54 Ocean acidification & the emergence of algae-based nutrition solutions
24:52 Circle B and how VAXA Technologies, Örlö Nutrition, and growing omega-3s with geothermal energy and circular design serve to make regeneration foundational
Shame Is Not A Health Plan: Coach Bill Hogarty On Our Kids and Families
Episode 304
Wednesday, September 30, 2026 • Duration 56:35
NOTE: This episode is intended for informational and entertainment purposes. Neither the host or guest are medical professionals, so this episode should not be construed as health advice. It not intended to treat, diagnose, or cure any health condition. N If you have specific concerns, please consult with your healthcare professional.
Coach Bill Hogarty spent most of his life in peak condition, won twelve bodybuilding titles including Mr. California, and assumed he understood health. Then a shoulder injury sidelined him, he gained weight, and he learned what it feels like to be on the other side of the gym floor. That experience gave him something his training never had: empathy. Today he channels it into the Kids Diabetes Foundation, built on a conviction that childhood insulin resistance is preventable and that telling a struggling parent they are failing their kid will never work. In this candid conversation, Bill and Corinna trade notes as two people who have spent decades in health and fitness, and they do not always agree. They dig into why BMI is a poor marker while A1C and body composition tell a truer story, why muscle functions as an endocrine organ that protects us as we age, and why abstinence-based rules tend to backfire while moderation sticks. Corinna pushes back on the language of shame and on the toll that diet culture took on her own generation, and Bill meets her there. Along the way you will pick up practical, low-drama tactics: let your kid pick one thing from the produce aisle and build a meal around it, walk 30 minutes a day with someone you love, and learn one number that most doctors never order.
Climate And Code: Bridging The Digital Divide In Disaster Recovery With Monica Sanders
Episode 303
Wednesday, September 23, 2026 • Duration 59:08
When natural disasters strike, marginalized communities are often left behind without access to essential recovery resources or digital infrastructure. In her groundbreaking book Climate and Code: Building a Digital and Connected Climate-Resilient Future, Georgetown University Law Center professor and National Geographic Explorer Monica Sanders explores how law, community wisdom, and technology can bridge this gap to build disaster equity. Monica Sanders, founder of The Undivide Project, joins us for an insightful conversation on redefining resilience from the ground up. Drawing from her personal experience surviving Hurricane Katrina to examining digital redlining and community-led initiatives in Panama and Baltimore, Monica highlights why digital access is a critical lifeline during extreme weather events. Can AI Be Used Responsibly? The Ethics of Care in a Machine Age with Corinna Bellizzi, PhD, MBA
Episode 302
Friday, September 18, 2026 • Duration 22:26
Almost every conversation about AI is about power — what it can do, what jobs it will replace, and who it will enrich. Almost no one is asking what it would mean to bring care to this technology. In this solo episode of Care More Be Better, host Corinna Bellizzi, PhD, draws on Carol Gilligan's ethics of care, her own doctoral research into regenerative enterprise, and her personal experience using Claude and ChatGPT in dissertation research to make the case that AI can be an amplifier of care — but only with intention, transparency, and accountability. She covers the copyright settlement Anthropic reached with authors in July 2026, the attention question, the RFK Jr. MAHA report hallucinations, and the four questions everyone should ask before adopting any AI tool.
