| Patrick Stewart, Dolly Parton, Dolores Huerta: The Allies We Lost (Bonus) | 30 oct. 2026 | 00:13:19 | |
This week, we’re sharing a bonus episode from Care More Be Better’s unfiltered sibling show, Care Less Be Worse: The Environmental News Rant. This version has been edited for language. In 2026, we lost some of the people who made a better world feel possible, and in a single 24-hour stretch this week, we lost three of them. Corinna honors seven allies who spent their lives protecting the land, the animals, the workers, and the communities living in the shadow of smokestacks. Anthony Head championed animal rescue alongside his late partner, animal welfare campaigner Sarah Fisher. Dolly Parton helped create a sanctuary for bald eagles and showed up for her neighbors when wildfires swept through the Smoky Mountains. Wendell Berry installed solar panels in coal country and protested strip mining well into his late seventies. Gloria Steinem reminded us that our movements are “linked, not ranked.” Patrick Stewart warned that our planet’s decline was accelerating and called for a new Star Trek to remind us what humanity could be. Dolores Huerta co-founded the United Farm Workers, fought for the people who feed us, and gave us “Sí se puede.” And Desmond D’Sa, the Goldman Prize-winning activist, spent more than 30 years fighting refinery pollution in South Durban, even after his home was firebombed. This episode begins in grief and ends with a call to carry their work forward. As Dolores Huerta put it: don’t wait to be invited, step in. Election Day is Tuesday. In this episode, Corinna gets personal about one of the least-covered costs of climate change: the bill that comes after the fire and the flood. She shares what it’s been like to live in the Santa Cruz Mountains since the CZU Lightning Complex in 2020, to watch friends lose their homes and their insurance, to have her home office flood three times during the atmospheric rivers of 2022 to 2023, and to see her fire insurance premium more than quadruple since 2009. She also looks at this week’s king tide flooding in Marin, a potentially record-breaking El Niño, the latest California FAIR Plan rate hike, rising construction costs, the shrinking federal disaster safety net, and why so many homeowners still aren’t connecting their rising insurance bills to a warming planet. It’s raw, it’s personal, and it ends with a fiery call to action ahead of Election Day. Find your voting information at vote.gov. Key sources from this episode

| Democracy Works When We Do: Hope, Reform, and How to Get Involved with Jenna Spinelle | 28 oct. 2026 | 00:50:08 | |
Feeling discouraged about politics does not have to mean tuning out. Jenna Spinelle has spent years telling the stories of ordinary people who saw a problem, found like-minded neighbors, and started working on it, whether or not they won. In this conversation, Jenna traces her path from local newspapers and Penn State admissions to building a network of democracy podcasts, explains why city councils and school boards are the most accessible place to start, and shares what she is learning while writing a book about the democracy reform movement. You will leave with a short list of organizations, books, and one-hour actions that make participation feel doable. | Bonus: Introducing Care Less Be Worse | 24 oct. 2026 | 00:03:43
Care More Be Better has always been about hope: amplifying the scientists, activists, and changemakers building a more sustainable, regenerative future. That isn’t changing. New interviews will keep arriving here every week. But caring deeply about the world also means getting angry about what’s happening to it. So I’ve launched a new companion show, Care Less Be Worse: The Environmental News Rant, a raw, unedited space where I take the gloves off about the news that’s wrecking our natural world and our communities. Environmental rollbacks, public lands on the auction block, a billionaire class racing to care less while the rest of us live with the consequences. If you’ve ever finished a news story wanting to scream, this show is for you. In this bonus episode, you’ll hear the trailer that sets the tone for what’s coming. Fair warning: it’s explicit, and it’s meant to be. Care Less Be Worse is where I process the rage so that here, at Care More Be Better, we can keep focusing on solutions. Rant there. Recover here. | Less Bad Is Not Enough: David Gottfried On Regen360 | 20 oct. 2026 | 01:07:14
David Gottfried spent three decades proving that buildings can change how the world operates, and he has come to believe that is not nearly enough. The co-founder of the US Green Building Council and founder of the World Green Building Council watched his movement grow into a trillion-dollar economy, and he still sees the ship headed for the melting iceberg. In this conversation, he lays out the idea at the center of his book Regen360, an operating system for a regenerative Earth built on one question: does this choice increase life or degrade it? Along the way, David traces a thread from his father’s family-dinner lessons about net worth and self-worth to a third kind of wealth he calls soul worth, the part of us that survives the eulogy. He tells the story of falling off his bike on Mount Diablo and being pushed across the finish line by strangers, and what it taught him about the humility inside perseverance. He and Corinna also explore putting the E in humane, giving every part of yourself a seat at the table, and small choices anyone can make this week, from repairing instead of replacing to spending time outdoors with the people you love. | Can Tenure Be More Humane? Ethics Of Care With Dr. Shawntal Brown | 12 oct. 2026 | 01:03:59
Shawntal Z. Brown once wore the burnt orange blazer and bought into every part of the institution she worked for. After being laid off in 2024 amid a shifting legislative landscape in Texas, she began writing about what that experience taught her, and the result is a Substack with one of the most honest titles in higher education: Loving an Institution That No Longer Loves You Back. In this conversation, Shawntal and Corinna explore how belonging, power, and care play out inside universities, and why the tenure system, built to evaluate and rank people, struggles to center their humanity. They look at what a care-centered version of tenure might reward, including the community service that one professor was actually criticized for doing too much of. Shawntal shares what academic freedom looks like day to day in Texas, why DEI work is quietly moving underground rather than disappearing, and how to tell a symbolic gesture from structural change. Her answer is a task force that ends in a period when it should end in a comma. The episode closes with a question for anyone who loves an institution that has not always loved them back: what is the cost, and what would it take to make these places more humane for the people inside them? | Is Eco-Capitalism an Oxymoron? A Report From the Field with Dr. Corinna Bellizzi | 07 oct. 2026 | 00:37:31
Is eco-capitalism an oxymoron? In this solo episode, show host, Dr. Corinna Bellizzi, opens with big news: Care More Be Better has joined The Democracy Group podcast network. From there, she turns to a question that has followed her through her entire career. She steelmans the skeptic, who sees growth mandates and externalized costs as structural flaws no ethical CEO can outrun, and the believer, who sees commerce as a lever too fast and too powerful to abandon. Then she offers a report from the field: building Nordic Naturals into a $100 million market leader, the compromises that came with it, the ocean science that led her to walk away, and the algae-based work at Örlö Nutrition that shows what regeneration can look like when it is built into a company's structure. She closes with three votes every listener casts daily, as a consumer, a worker, and an investor. | Shame Is Not A Health Plan: Coach Bill Hogarty On Our Kids and Families | 30 sept. 2026 | 00:56:35
NOTE: This episode is intended for informational and entertainment purposes. Neither the host or guest are medical professionals, so this episode should not be construed as health advice. It not intended to treat, diagnose, or cure any health condition. N If you have specific concerns, please consult with your healthcare professional. Coach Bill Hogarty spent most of his life in peak condition, won twelve bodybuilding titles including Mr. California, and assumed he understood health. Then a shoulder injury sidelined him, he gained weight, and he learned what it feels like to be on the other side of the gym floor. That experience gave him something his training never had: empathy. Today he channels it into the Kids Diabetes Foundation, built on a conviction that childhood insulin resistance is preventable and that telling a struggling parent they are failing their kid will never work. In this candid conversation, Bill and Corinna trade notes as two people who have spent decades in health and fitness, and they do not always agree. They dig into why BMI is a poor marker while A1C and body composition tell a truer story, why muscle functions as an endocrine organ that protects us as we age, and why abstinence-based rules tend to backfire while moderation sticks. Corinna pushes back on the language of shame and on the toll that diet culture took on her own generation, and Bill meets her there. Along the way you will pick up practical, low-drama tactics: let your kid pick one thing from the produce aisle and build a meal around it, walk 30 minutes a day with someone you love, and learn one number that most doctors never order. | Can AI Be Used Responsibly? The Ethics of Care in a Machine Age with Corinna Bellizzi, PhD, MBA | 18 sept. 2026 | 00:22:26
Almost every conversation about AI is about power — what it can do, what jobs it will replace, and who it will enrich. Almost no one is asking what it would mean to bring care to this technology. In this solo episode of Care More Be Better, host Corinna Bellizzi, PhD, draws on Carol Gilligan's ethics of care, her own doctoral research into regenerative enterprise, and her personal experience using Claude and ChatGPT in dissertation research to make the case that AI can be an amplifier of care — but only with intention, transparency, and accountability. She covers the copyright settlement Anthropic reached with authors in July 2026, the attention question, the RFK Jr. MAHA report hallucinations, and the four questions everyone should ask before adopting any AI tool. | Getting Unstuck: Facilitation, And The Work Of Values Alignment With Genevieve Smith | 15 sept. 2026 | 00:57:03
Many social change organizations struggle to bridge the gap between the values displayed on their office walls and the actual practices in their daily operations. Achieving true values alignment requires navigating deep humanity, conflict, and the inevitable shame that arises during transitional periods. In this episode, host Corinna Bellizzi sits down with Genevieve Smith, an organizational effectiveness consultant and founder of GV Advisory. Genevieve shares her unique approach as a "professional bummer" who facilitates difficult but necessary conversations around power sharing, organizational grief, and leadership transitions. She explains how drawing inspiration from preschool classrooms and using tools like the community garden metaphor can help teams get unstuck, build trust, and move from panic to practical solutions. The federal government plans to kill 450,000 barred owls over 30 years to protect the northern spotted owl — while simultaneously narrowing the definition of harm under the Endangered Species Act to allow old-growth forest logging that will destroy the spotted owl's habitat. Wayne Pacelle, president of Animal Wellness Action and the Center for Humane Economy, joins Corinna Bellizzi to expose the timber industry logic behind both moves. Together, they explain what's happening to wild horses and wolves on America's public lands, and share what 35 years of animal protection work has taught Wayne about how a slippery slope can lead to environmental devastation. | How Corporations Socialize Costs To Become Profiteers With Christopher Marquis | 26 août 2026 | 01:06:32
For decades, large corporations have privatized their massive profits while quietly shifting environmental, social, and health costs onto the public. Unpacking these systemic costs is central to the discussion in The Profiteers, which diagnoses how business practices impact society at large. In this episode, host Corinna Bellizzi speaks with Christopher Marquis, Professor of Chinese Management at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School and author of Better Business, to analyze the hidden mechanics of corporate externalities. From plastics lobbying and regulatory co-optation to visionary models of regenerative agriculture and foundation ownership, they explore why exposing systemic corporate abuse is the first crucial step toward real reform. Discover how innovative enterprise models, policy levers, and conscious consumer choices can help build a truly sustainable and regenerative economy. About Guest: Professor Marquis’ research and teaching focus on how some of the biggest crises of our day – including climate change, inequality, and discrimination – are intimately connected to how our current economic and societal systems prioritize accumulating and concentrating wealth for the few over the concerns and needs of everyone and everything else. Marquis is the author of The Profiteers: How Business Privatizes Profits and Socialize Costs. His earlier books include the award-winning Better Business: How the B Corp Movement is Remaking Capitalism and Mao and Markets: The Communist Roots of Chinese Enterprise, which was a Financial Times Best Book of 2022. He has also authored more than 20 peer-reviewed academic articles and more than 50 Harvard business cases on topics related to social innovation, sustainable business and doing business in China. More than 1.3 million children in the United States are unsheltered — and for many of them, a pair of new athletic shoes is not a given but a barrier, to school attendance, to sports participation, to the simple feeling of belonging. Amy Fass, Executive Director of Shoes That Fit, joins Care More Be Better as the domestic companion to the earlier Because International conversation, bringing the lens of childhood shoe insecurity home. She and host Corinna Bellizzi explore what new shoes actually do for a child's self-esteem, the stories of children transformed by something as simple as a name-brand sneaker, the antiquated federal poverty line that leaves millions uncounted, and how to make a concrete difference when the scale feels overwhelming. The brothers join Care More Be Better to share what 21 days at sea taught them about complexity, why ideas die in spreadsheets, how AI agents work like bees in a hive, and how to use AI as a tool that empowers rather than replaces the human behind the vision. The Queen Mothers of Ghana asked Leah Penniman whether it was true that American farmers plant seeds without prayer, song, or gratitude — then said: 'That's why you're all sick. You treat the earth as a commodity, not as a living relative.' That one sentence is the heart of this episode. Leah Penniman — Black Kreyol farmer, co-founder of Soul Fire Farm, and author of Farming While Black and the new anthology Black Earth Wisdom — joins Care More Be Better to explore George Washington Carver as the forgotten godfather of regenerative agriculture, the shared root of human supremacy and White supremacy, the term food apartheid and why it matters more than food desert, the returning of 258 acres to the Mohican Nation, Dijor Carter's grandmother's spirit rising through his feet in the mud at Soul Fire Farm, and the sit spot practice anyone can start today. At twenty, Inna Segal was told by her chiropractor that there was nothing he could do to help her — and went home to discover that her chronic back pain, psoriasis, and digestive issues were rooted in ancestral trauma her body had been holding for decades. The author of The Secret Language of Your Body, sold over a million copies in 27 languages, joins Care More Be Better for one of the show's most personal conversations. Host Corinna Bellizzi shares her own experience warding off a migraine through breath and intention on graduation morning, her childhood ability to detect cancer by smell, and the moment she knew her sister's cat's name before anyone told her. Together they explore energy medicine, the body as an archive of experience, the science of emotional storage in physical form, and why the listening that heals the body may be the same listening that heals the planet. | Juneteenth Feature: Angela Glover Blackwell's Reimagining Democracy For A Good Life - Episode 1: Los Angeles | 19 juin 2026 | 00:30:04
In honor of Juneteenth, we're sharing something special: the opening chapter of Reimagining Democracy for a Good Life, the podcast hosted by legendary equity advocate Angela Glover Blackwell, founder in residence of PolicyLink. In "Democracy Dreaming," Angela takes us to Los Angeles, a city she didn't expect to become a hopeful case study in multiracial democracy, and shows us why it might be exactly that. Featuring voices from LA Mayor Karen Bass, economist Manuel Pastor, Community Coalition CEO Alberto Retana, young housing organizer Tiffany Benitez, advocate Denise Fairchild, and the poetry of Chinaka Hodge, this episode reframes democracy not as something we have, but as something we practice. Angela's second season is coming soon, and we're thrilled to share that we'll be sitting down with Angela herself in early July, with that conversation releasing later next month. Got a question you'd love us to ask her? Send it to hello@caremorebebetter.com. Chapter Markers (relative timestamps, mapped from the original episode)

In 2007, Kenton Lee watched a girl in Kenya walk to church in shoes so small she had cut open the front to let her toes stick out — and wrote an idea in his journal that would take six years and every shoe company's rejection before it became real. The Shoe That Grows, an adjustable sandal that expands five sizes and lasts for years, is now worn by more than 500,000 children across 100 countries. Kenton and his longtime friend and CEO Andrew Kroes join Care More Be Better to share what it takes to build something genuinely useful — the feedback loops, the business model tensions, the manufactured-in-Kenya milestone, and the question that closes the episode: what is your because? 01:41 - How Because International Came To Be

| Nothing is Neutral: How To Talk Across Political and Cultural Divides | Genevieve Smith | 12 juin 2026 | 00:33:24 | |
In this special re-release of Episode #2, Corinna Bellizzi revisits an early conversation with social change strategist Genevieve Smith that feels remarkably relevant today. Show Notes: What if the choices we make every day, from the words we use to the conversations we avoid, are shaping the world more than we realize? Originally recorded during a period of heightened social and political tension, this discussion explores how our values show up in our actions, why "nothing is neutral," and how we can engage in difficult conversations without sacrificing either accountability or compassion. Genevieve shares practical insights for navigating disagreements around race, gender, faith, politics, and social change while remaining connected to our shared humanity. Together, Corinna and Genevieve examine the challenges of values alignment, both in our personal lives and within organizations, and discuss how humor, curiosity, and self-awareness can help us build bridges across difference. As public discourse grows increasingly polarized, this conversation offers a timely reminder that meaningful change often begins with our willingness to listen, learn, and stay engaged. In This Episode:
Key Takeaways: Every action—and every inaction—communicates values. Whether we're making decisions as individuals, leaders, consumers, or organizations, our choices have consequences that extend beyond ourselves. Genevieve argues that meaningful progress requires both courage and humility: the courage to engage difficult topics and the humility to recognize that we all have more to learn. By approaching disagreements with curiosity instead of a desire to win, we create opportunities for understanding, accountability, and growth. This episode is an invitation to examine how our values show up in our daily lives and to consider how we might contribute to a more equitable, compassionate, and sustainable future. GUEST BIO: Genevieve Smith is an independent consultant specializing in organizational behavior, social change, values alignment, and systems transformation. She works with international NGOs, corporate leaders, mission-driven organizations, and communities to connect people, ideas, and strategies in service of more equitable systems and outcomes. Genevieve began her career as a data analyst within a disability services organization, where she discovered that meaningful impact could not be measured without aligning data practices to mission and values. Since then, she has helped organizations design business practices, cultures, and decision-making frameworks that reflect their purpose—not the other way around. Known affectionately as a "professional bummer," Genevieve helps individuals and organizations navigate uncomfortable but necessary conversations that lead to deeper understanding, stronger values alignment, and more effective social change. | Stop the War Within: Inner Healing, Outer Impact | Gerard Powell @Rythmia | 10 juin 2026 | 00:54:16
Can you truly change the world if you haven't first changed yourself? Gerard Powell was a CEO who took two companies public — and was quietly, persistently miserable. His journey from deep personal dissatisfaction and addiction to the discovery of plant medicine led to the founding of Rythmia Life Advancement Center in Costa Rica, the world's first medically licensed ayahuasca retreat. Nearly 24,000 guests later, with a 98.12% self-reported transformational success rate, Gerry joins Care More Be Better to make the case that the most powerful outward impact begins with the courageous work of inner transformation. He and host Corinna Bellizzi explore the soul fracture that no amount of success can heal, the arms dealers and billionaires who left Rythmia wanting to give their lives to helping others, and the message the medicine gave Gerry when he went to her crying about the state of the world: stop the war within yourself and the other wars will go away. The housing market right now is extremely competitive, and homelessness continues to be rampant across the country. His award-winning debut novel examines how paranoia and hatred corrode communities from within, while his upcoming book focuses on homelessness and the speed at which stability can disappear. Alongside his writing, Andrew runs a Bay Area design-build construction company, bringing over a decade of architectural and residential experience to his understanding of shelter as a basic human reality. His voice bridges narrative and lived truth, grounding abstract social questions in the physical structures people depend on to survive. | Seed to Soil to Soul: Land Justice, Art and Healing | Minkah Taharkah | 27 mai 2026 | 00:55:11
What if healing our communities begins with healing our relationship to the land? Welcome, regenerators, to a powerful conversation on sustainability, justice, and regenerative living with Minkah Taharkah. As an environmental scientist, community advocate, and leader with B Healthy B Holistic Consultation, the California Farmer Justice Collaborative, and The Butterfly Movement, Minkah is helping reimagine our relationship with land, food, and each other. Today, she explains how the Earth serves as the common thread in her work—from sustainable fashion to land justice advocacy—and how the CFJC pushes for equity for BIPOC farmers and socially disadvantaged ranchers through policy and legislation. We also unpack the difference between conventional farming and ecosystem land tending, highlighting reciprocal practices and traditional ecological knowledge like intercropping to protect soil health and combat “nutritional warfare.” Finally, Minkah shares how The Butterfly Movement uses art, food, and the African principle of Sankofa (“go back and fetch it”) to foster intergenerational healing and deeper community connection. This conversation is a powerful reminder that when we root ourselves in the land and each other, we grow something no system can take away. About Guest: Minkah Taharkah is a co-facilitator with B Healthy B Holistic Consultation firm. She is a multidisciplinary artist, environmental scientist & justice advocate, land steward, and designer. She is passionate about supporting the development of integral community connections through healing arts practice and engagement. In addition, she is a professional photographer, yoga instructor (200RYT), and multimedia & performing arts practitioner. | Curious Over Furious: Finding Common Ground In Hard Conversations | Corey Nathan | 20 mai 2026 | 01:00:20
The world is more divided now than ever. Hard conversations are even harder to get into these days, and it is quite easy to get hostile to people who are not on your side. Corinna Bellizzi explores what it takes to heal these huge divides in society with Corey Nathan, host and producer of Talkin' Politics & Religion Without Killin' Each Other. Together, they discuss how to get centered with our values, ethics, and unique humanness to bridge the chasms in our political and religious spaces. Corey explains what it means to harden yourself in this age when fear-mongering and lying have become so commonplace, how to remain open and curious, and how to fix the brokenness of the world one degree at a time. | Regenerative Renegades: Algae Omega-3s, Purpose-Driven Brands, and Living Well by Doing Good — Corinna Bellizzi on Forever Young Radio | 15 mai 2026 | 00:36:56
Something different this week: host Corinna Bellizzi appears as a guest on The Forever Young Radio Show, hosted by her longtime colleague Kelly Cappasola. In this wide-ranging conversation, Corinna shares the science behind her pivot from fish oil to algae omega-3s, why farmed fish are now higher in omega-6 than omega-3, how to get your omega-3 levels tested for $50, and the five natural products brands at the center of her PhD dissertation research at Prescott College. She introduces what she calls the "regenerative renegades" — purpose-driven companies that do it right not because it's fashionable, but because it's the only way they know how to operate — and shares where Circle B and her book project are heading next. | Reimagining Impact: The Power Of Coalition Building And Regenerative Thinking With Stephen Minix | 13 mai 2026 | 01:00:26
Most nonprofits live inside a glossy annual report — one that looks perfect, tells a tidy story, and tells the funder exactly what they want to hear. The problem, according to Stephen Minix, is that this kind of reporting is not learning. It is validation. And validation, he argues, is quietly doing harm. Stephen is Vice President of Community at UpMetrics, a former PE teacher, athletic director, and basketball coach at Locke High School in Watts, and one of the clearest thinkers I have encountered on why the nonprofit-funder relationship keeps failing — and what a genuinely regenerative alternative looks like. In this conversation, he names the extractive dynamics that most people in the impact space accept as normal, introduces the concept of results-based accountability, and shares what it actually takes to move philanthropy from transactional to relational. We go deep on why data collected from communities should serve those communities rather than flow upward to validate a funder's investment decisions, why the real barrier between funders and nonprofits is trust rather than information, and why community voices need to be in the room — not on the stage at a gala as a sad story that makes people reach for their wallets. Stephen also explains what a family office is for anyone who has wondered but never asked, shares how UpMetrics works in cohort settings to help nonprofits build their own data infrastructure, and offers his most memorable anecdote: asking a room full of funders what data they collected before signing their kids up for after-school programs. The answer — silence — says everything about the gap between how philanthropy evaluates communities and how it trusts its own instincts. | Beyond Greenwashing: How to Communicate Sustainability with Credibility with Helen Neal | 06 mai 2026 | 00:49:34
Most companies aren't trying to greenwash. They're trying to put their best foot forward — and that's exactly where they go wrong. Helen Neal, founder of HN Communications and creator of the IMPACT framework, has spent over a decade helping major organizations including Bosch, Heineken, and Aston Martin close the gap between what they say and what they actually do on sustainability. In this episode, she joins Corinna Bellizzi to unpack why corporate sustainability communication keeps failing — and what radical honesty, strategic storytelling, and the right AI tools can do to change that. They explore the difference between greenwashing and green hushing (the dangerous silence that's now spreading as companies grow too afraid to say anything at all), why human stories and measurable impact always outperform data tables, and what it actually takes to build stakeholder trust that can't be bought with an advertising campaign. Helen shares her IMPACT framework — Integrity, Meaning, Proof, Action, Consistency, Transparency — and introduces Zena, the AI governance platform she's building to help sustainability teams navigate regulatory risk before they publish. They also dig into B-Corp certification, the Polish beer brand using bison conservation to build authentic purpose, and why Tony's Chocolonely's decision to publicly disclose child labor in its supply chain — rather than hide it — became one of the most powerful trust-building moves in recent brand history. If you work in sustainability, communications, or purpose-driven business, this episode will change how you think about what you say — and what you've been afraid to. | If We Lose the Right to Protest, We Lose Everything — with Annie Leonard and André Carothers | 28 avr. 2026 | 01:05:35
History has shown that authoritarian regimes can be toppled and social injustices can be eliminated if the public participates even in just one peaceful but powerful protest. But despite their noble goals, activism is often vilified and protesters are criminalized. Corinna Bellizzi is joined by Annie Leonard and André Carothers, two powerful souls who have spent their careers at the frontlines of activism. Together, they discuss why the public should never give up their right to protest, which is an essential “weapon” to voice out woes to those in power when all legal avenues of democracy have been exhausted. They also talk about the widespread impact of digital activism, the danger of overusing in-group language, and why protests can be effective even without resorting to violence. Blog for this episode: https://caremorebebetter.com/if-we-lose-the-right-to-protest-we-lose-everything-with-annie-leonard-andre-carothers/ About Guests: Annie Leonard is a lifelong activist whose work has taken her to protests, courtrooms, and congressional hearings around the world. As Executive Director of Greenpeace US from 2014 to 2023, she led one of the most recognized environmental organizations on the planet. She is the creator of The Story of Stuff — one of the most widely viewed environmental films in history — and co-launched the Jane Fonda Climate PAC. She has testified before Congress, appeared across major media, and been recognized by Time magazine as a Hero of the Environment. She received an honorary degree from Vermont Law School and has spent decades campaigning against pollution, waste, and unchecked corporate power. André Carothers is an activist, writer, and organizer with more than four decades of experience in campaigns spanning climate change, human rights, environmental protection, and nuclear disarmament. He worked for Greenpeace US for 13 years, including serving on its board of directors. He co-founded the Rockwood Leadership Institute, a training organization for activists, and consults as an organizational development coach for leaders across the social change sector. | BOOK REVIEW | Protest: Respect It, Defend It, Use It | by Annie Leonard and Andre Carothers | 24 avr. 2026 | 00:15:49
In this audio podcast review, you'll hear directly from our host, Corinna Bellizzi. She shares her perspective candidly - that Patagonia Books has a gift for platforming the voices our moment most needs. In her view, Protest: Respect It, Defend It, Use It may be their most urgent title yet. The authors, Annie Leonard and André Carothers, walk us from the Boston Tea Party to Standing Rock to the protests unfolding today — weaving in first-person essays from Jane Fonda, Nemonte Nenquimo, and others who put everything on the line — to make a case that is both historically grounded and immediately practical. If you've ever felt the gap between what you know is wrong and what you're actually doing about it, this book is for you. And if you can, listen to the audiobook — narrated by the authors themselves, it's something else entirely. Corinna's interview with Annie Leonard and André Carothers airs on the book's release day, 4/28/2026. Stay Tuned! | Food As A Force For Peace: Regeneration, Heritage & The PACHA Story With Adam Hiner | 22 avr. 2026 | 00:51:12
As wars continue to rage in different parts of the world, particularly between Israel and Palestine, achieving peace seems to be an impossibility. But despite the chaotic situations across the globe, there is always some way to push for a peaceful agenda – even if the main weapon is only regenerative food. Adam Hiner, co-founder of PACHA, returns to share how their business scaling efforts have transformed into using food as a force to promote peace. He joins Corinna Bellizzi to talk about his Palestinian heritage, particularly how it has influenced PACHA’s mission to continue elevating agriculture practices and forge a partnership with Sindyanna of Galilee. Adam also discusses how they continue to push the boundaries of what clean regenerative food can look like while committing to organic sourcing, compostable packaging, and farmer partnerships. COMPLETE BLOG & TRANSCRIPT: https://caremorebebetter.com/food-as-a-force-for-peace-regeneration-heritage-the-pacha-story-with-adam-hiner/ About Guest: Adam Hiner is a food entrepreneur and regenerative food systems advocate with deep roots in values-based business. As the co-founder of PACHA, a company creating sprouted, sourdough buckwheat bread and tortillas, Adam is on a mission to nourish both people and planet. His journey in food began over two decades ago with ventures like Eco-Caters (San Diego’s first organic catering company), Local Habit (an organic farm-to-table restaurant), and Boochcraft (the nation’s first high-alcohol kombucha brand). Today, Adam applies that same passion and innovation to PACHA, a company he co-founded with his wife Maddie to bring clean, organic, allergen-free food to a growing audience. Adam is also proudly Palestinian. His grandparents immigrated from Ramallah, and this heritage has guided PACHA’s recent collaboration with Sindyanna of Galilee, a female-led nonprofit that brings together Arab and Jewish women through sustainable agriculture. Together, they’ve created a limited-edition Fig & Olive “Peace Loaf” using Sindyanna’s organic olive oil, with proceeds from the release supporting Sinndyanna’s “Bees for Peace” initiative. This biodynamic beekeeping program gets Israeli and Palestinian women working side by side to foster cross-cultural connection and ecological healing. Adam brings a rare combination of entrepreneurial savvy, cultural depth, and climate leadership to every conversation—and his story is a powerful one for audiences exploring food as a pathway to peace, justice, and regeneration. | From Polarization To Progress: Climate Solutions With EarthX CEO Peter Simek | 08 avr. 2026 | 00:53:30
Coming up with climate solutions, no matter how beneficial or positive they may be for the greater good, has become so polarized. What does it take to bring people from both sides together and develop efforts that could satisfy everyone? Corinna Bellizzi chats with someone who is doing exactly that: Peter Simek, CEO of EarthX. | Relational Leadership and Regenerative Futures with Nina Simons, co-founder of Bioneers | 06 mars 2026 | 00:47:24
As human beings, we are built for relationship. Yet many of the leadership models we inherit are hierarchical, extractive, and rooted in struggle. In this conversation, Nina and I explore:
Nina also reflects on redefining sacrifice, embracing conflict as a doorway to deeper relationship, and leading from wholeness rather than burnout. Why This Matters NowWe are living through overlapping crises — climate instability, political gridlock, reproductive rights rollbacks, and widening inequity. Nina reminds us that these are not separate issues, but interconnected systems. We will not achieve climate justice without racial and gender equity. Relational leadership invites us to lead not from dominance, but from interdependence. About Nina SimonsNina Simons is Co-founder and Chief Relationship Officer at Bioneers and leads its Everywoman’s Leadership program. Throughout her career across nonprofit, social entrepreneurship, corporate, and philanthropic sectors, Nina has worked with nearly a thousand diverse women leaders to cultivate mutual learning, trust, and transformative leadership. She is the author of Nature, Culture, and the Sacred: A Woman Listens for Leadership and co-editor of Moonrise: The Power of Women Leading from the Heart. Her work integrates ecological wisdom, spiritual insight, and systems thinking to inspire regenerative futures. Connect with Nina:

| Sex Trafficking Hidden in Plain Sight: Stories, Systems, and How to Take Action | 11 févr. 2026 | 00:38:38 | |
Trigger Warning: This episode includes discussions of sex trafficking, sexual exploitation, and abuse. Sex trafficking does not only happen “somewhere else.” It thrives in silence, misunderstanding, and systems that fail to protect vulnerable youth. In this re-released episode of Care More Be Better, Corinna Bellizzi speaks with Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Melody C. Miller about her documentary California’s Forgotten Children and the real-world impact it has had in schools, communities, and institutions across the United States. Melody began this work as a teenager, believing trafficking was a distant issue, only to discover that students from her own high school were being exploited. That realization led her to volunteer with survivor-led organizations, undergo trauma-informed training, and ultimately spend five years creating a film that centers survivor voices and equips communities with tools for prevention and response. This conversation is also deeply personal. Corinna shares her own experience of running away at thirteen and the vulnerability that follows when young people are left without safety, support, or options. Together, she and Melody unpack what sex trafficking actually looks like, how grooming and coercion operate, and why language, awareness, and informed action matter. Rather than focusing on perpetrators or sensational stories, this episode centers:
Listeners will come away with a clearer understanding of how trafficking hides in plain sight—and how ordinary people can help interrupt it without putting themselves or others at risk. What We Cover in This Episode

| Eliminating Cancel Culture in Climate with Jenny Morgan | 04 févr. 2026 | 00:48:09 | |
Every single person in the human race wants to build a better world and a brighter future for the next generation. But why is the climate discourse constantly diminished by cancel culture? Corinna Bellizzi explores this distressing social issue with climate strategist and advocate for sustainable change, Jenny Morgan. Delving into her book, Cancel Culture in Climate, Jenny discusses what it takes to get rid of the perfectionism and purist mindset that puts the entire climate movement to a halt. She explains how to participate in hopeful climate conversations that simplify the overwhelming climate problem, the importance of transparency and clarity in corporate social responsibility, and how to make the younger generation more climate and environmentally sensitive.
