A few years ago we did an episode on Everything You Need To Know About Breast Augmentation. Well, it's time for an update! There's even more to know to fully empower yourself before having breast implants. Dr. Martin and Amy dive into updated stats, breast implant safety, BIA-ALCL, BIA-SCC, breast implant illness, who is a good candidate and what to expect at your pre-op appointment.

Questions for your surgeon:

• Full medical history, current medications, allergies, supplements, history of
  smoking, drug use, previous surgeries, etc.
• Are you certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery?
• Do you perform surgery at an accredited facility?
• What specific training do you have in breast implant techniques?
• Am I a good candidate for this procedure?
• What are the risks and possible complications?
• How are complications handled?
• How many additional implant-related surgeries can I expect over my lifetime?
• Will my ability to breastfeed be affected?
• How will my breasts look if I decide to have my implants removed in the future?
• Will weight loss/gain alter my results?
• How can I expect my breasts to look/age over time, after pregnancy?
• What are the options if I am dissatisfied with my outcome?
• What kind of help will I need during my recovery and for how long will I need
  assistance after surgery?
• Do you have pictures of results that are reasonable for me to expect?
