Episode #174: We're All Gonna Die with Marc-André Filion of Messorem Bracitorium | Adjunct Series
Season 9 · Episode 174
mercredi 29 mai 2024 • Duration 03:23:39
While Quebec was slow to enter and embrace the haze game, they've delivered on a level that has made the province some of the best producers of the style in the country. Montreal's Messorem Bracitorium opened in the summer of 2019 and the fanfare was immediate - clearly the hazeboiz and hazegirlz were ready for something local that paralleled their US faves. Co-Founder and Graphic Designer Marc-André joined Cee and Nate to chat about what's been happening since Messo's last podcast appearance in early 2020, how their lager program has become a massive part of the business, why their attention to detail has made them who they are, the pushback they received from local breweries, how important their merch has been to the brand, how they've upgraded their space and created one of the best patios in the city, and how they've been building their name internationally via collabs and festivals. They got into Il Fut Un Temps: Indulgent Mexican Lager, Il Était Une Fois : Sécheresse Helles Lager, Destin Certain IPA, and Temporalis #0017 Double IPA. Such a fire chat - cheers!

Season 9 · Episode 102
jeudi 23 juin 2022 • Duration 02:18:00
You may have seen breweries focused on low ABV beers, but have you ever seen a brewery that only knocks out killer, high-octane brews? Based in Worcester, MA, Greater Good Imperial Brewing is America's first and only brewery entirely obsessed with crafting and perfecting imperial craft beers. Cee hung out with CEO Colleen Quinn to hear all about their mission, how their unique approach to their beer has resonated with their customer base, how they structure their taproom for a safe and fun experience and their future plans. We crushed their flagship Pulp Daddy IPA, Bigg Summer pineapple IPA, their big dog Greylock QDH IPA, Funk Daddy imperial sour, and 55 Funk with passion fruit and guava. This was a great one, cheers!

Week 3 of Link Up brings one of the GOAT breweries in Ontario to the table - Bellwoods Brewery! If you're a long-time listener, you'll know how passionate Cee is about Bellwoods, so this was an exciting episode for us. Tiff and Cee hung out with Co-Founder Luke, Head of Marketing Paige, and Marketing's Danysha to hear about their amazing CCIC (Community, Culture, & Inclusion Committee) initiatives, how they've been able to successfully focus on diversity in their staff, and their advice to other breweries looking to do the same. We drank their amazing Link Up Double IPA, which boasts Citra, Loral, Mosaic and Simcoe hops. This was a super insightful conversation - cheers!
About the Link Up season:
We're back with a brand new season of BAOS Podcast, and this one is something very special and very close to us. We'll be focusing this entire season on Link Up, a non-profit started by the good folks behind Microbrasserie 5e Baron in Aylmer, QC and Tiffany and Cee here at BAOS and High Season Co. Our aim with this program is to help BIPOC from underrepresented communities learn about and enter the craft beer industry in essentially any area they wish - from a brewing apprentice to taking the Cicerone course for front-of-house opportunities, from hop farming to the yeast lab, from beer media to design and photography, we're here to help diversify an industry that is in dire need of it.

The second drop of Link Up's Series 3 comes from Kingston, ON's Fine Balance Brewing, and while they're still less than two years old, they've already been making some serious noise in Ontario's craft beer scene. Tiff and Cee hung with Founder Andrew Silver and cracked their gem of a Link Up brew, a juicy 5.5% Pale Ale with Citra, Citra Cryo and Vic Secret hops. They chatted about their quarterly dedication to giving back and how Link Up was a crucial part of that, the community groups they work with to diversify their team, and how they can get the attention of the wider community. Episode #100: Selling Inspiration with Zack Weinberg + Justin Ross of Toronto Brewing | Adjunct Series
Season 9 · Episode 100
jeudi 2 juin 2022 • Duration 02:33:53
We made it to a century, y'all! The Adjunct Series is going strong, and we're stoked to celebrate our 100th episode of this series by hanging out with the team behind Toronto Brewing. Cee and Scott shopped at Toronto Brewing when it was operating out of founder Zack Weinberg's home in their homebrew days back in 2011, so this was a great full-circle moment. During the pandemic, Zack opened a second location on Geary St in Toronto that's also home to their independent bottle shop. Joined by Justin Ross (who runs the bottle shop), they chatted about the importance of independent beer stores in Ontario, how they cater to homebrewers via sorting their product by the ingredients used, and whether Irish Reds and Belgian beers are still popular. They cracked open a Great Lakes x Godspeed Hydration Helles Lager, Town x Fine Balance's Symbiosis Oat Cream IPA, Brouwerij der Sint-Benedictusabdij de Achelse Kluis's Achel 8° Bruin, and Short Finger's Hack Barleywine. Cheers, and thanks for rocking with us!
