In today's episode, my guest is Kate Harrison — founder of ChroME and the woman behind 'Kate the Colour' — and we spend the whole hour on something I didn't expect a business podcast to cover this deeply: colour as energy, and what happens when you lose yours entirely.
Kate's route here wasn't a straight line. Twenty-five years of self-employment, a high street styling studio that won a Grazia award, a pregnancy that ended in preeclampsia and postnatal depression, and — more recently — her husband's breakdown, which left her rebuilding alone and, in her words, sat in 'a pit of greyness.' It was there that a chromatherapy course she'd taken during lockdown suddenly clicked into something bigger: colour not as decoration, but as frequency, and how you can choose which one you wear each day.
Its a fascinating conversation that explores the idea of 'soul shades' - how each of us carries a dominant colour energy - and that mismatching it to our role or environment is often exactly why something feels off. By the end I found myself thinking about my own wardrobe completely differently - and about how much choice we actually have over the mood we bring to a day. I hope it resonates with you in a similar way.
In today's episode, I sit down with Laura Uglow - mother, author, breathwork facilitator and soul guide healer - to talk about the winding road that led her into more than two decades supporting women through health, wellness and, eventually, deep inner work.
Laura traces how her practice evolved from the physical (nutrition, personal training, Pilates) into something far more holistic, after noticing that the women she worked with were carrying far more than tired muscles - they were exhausted from holding everything together for everyone else. That realisation, paired with her own experience of grief, burnout and anxiety, set her on the path to breathwork, Angelic Reiki, meditation and somatic practice, and ultimately to writing.
In fact we spend a good chunk of the conversation on her new book, Soul Freedom, and the 'Liberated Woman Method' that underpins it. Laura even reads two pieces from the book live on the episode, and there's something genuinely moving about hearing them in her own voice.
Perhaps what I most took away is Laura's resolve that softness is not weakness - that choosing yourself, slowing down, and trusting your own timing is its own kind of quiet power. If you've ever felt guilty for putting yourself first, this one's worth your time.
Ep 79: Rediscovering yourself in motherhood, with Rebecca Hogan
Épisode 79
mardi 3 mars 2026 • Durée 59:48
In today's episode, I chat with the wonderful Rebecca Hogan, whole-self life coach and newly published author.
From corporate marketing to London ad agencies, through a deeply personal fertility journey, retraining as a reflexologist and ultimately discovering coaching during the space that COVID unexpectedly gifted her — Rebecca's story is as fascinating as it is inspiring, and a powerful reminder that every chapter of our lives, even the difficult ones, can become the foundation for something meaningful.
We explore the concept of 'matrescence' — the identity shift that comes with becoming a mother — and why society's expectation that we simply 'bounce back' can be such a quick route to burnout and mum guilt. In fact Rebecca makes a compelling case for why motherhood is actually a creative, expansive time; an opportunity to ask ourselves who we are now, and how we want our lives to feel.
There's real wisdom in Rebecca's distinction between surviving and thriving — between living on autopilot and genuinely checking in with what matters most. We also celebrate the publication of Rebecca's debut book, Me to We: How to Rediscover Yourself and Truly Thrive in Motherhood — a three-part guide covering the truths of modern motherhood, rediscovering who you are as an evolving person, and stepping into your future self.
So if you're in the thick of early motherhood, feeling overwhelmed by all the plates you're spinning, or simply craving a little more joy and intention in your days, you'll leave this conversation feeling genuinely uplifted, and with plenty to reflect on.
Ep 78: Finding joy in the everyday, with Cat Googe
Épisode 78
mardi 17 février 2026 • Durée 58:16
In today's episode, I chat with the wonderful Cat Googe, a conscious joy coach, laughter yoga facilitator, and self-proclaimed "Joy Queen" who is on a mission to help people reclaim joy as a daily practice rather than a distant destination.
In our conversation, Cat shares how she transitioned from a teaching career that left her feeling energetically mismatched and burnt out, to discovering laughter yoga at a well-being day - a moment that would completely change the direction of her life.
We delve deeply into Cat's joy philosophy, and how it doesn't have to be reserved for big occasions like weddings – and exists just as much in the tiniest day to day moments too. She conveys how building our "joy muscle" through neuroplasticity can help us weather life's challenges, and why joy and sadness can absolutely coexist.
It was also fascinating to hear Cat's insight into intentional laughter and how our bodies don't know the difference between "real" and "pretend" laughter — we still release endorphins and lower cortisol either way. She also shares her bold journey into the festival circuit, which has now become a core part of her business strategy, bringing laughter yoga to thousands of people across the UK.
So if you're feeling stuck in a career that no longer serves you, or simply curious about how to pro-actively cultivate happiness, Cat's heart-led guidance offers a refreshing reminder that we can choose joy right here, right now.
Ep 77: Building movement into everyday life, with Wendy Welpton
Épisode 77
mardi 3 février 2026 • Durée 01:06:08
In today's episode, I chat with Wendy Welpton, the founder of Reclaim Movement, author of 'Move Well for Life,' and host of the 'Make Movement Matter' podcast.
Wendy shares her powerful evolution from a desk-bound career in fashion and wine marketing to becoming a movement specialist - a transformation sparked by a running injury at 40 that left her with chronic pain for four years. She reflects honestly about how this challenging experience led her to discover natural movement and the revolutionary idea that it's not just the hour we spend exercising that matters, but how we move throughout our entire day.
Wendy explains how our modern world has stripped away the natural movement patterns our bodies are designed for, and offers practical strategies to reclaim them without adding extra time to our already busy days.
Wendy's concept of 'stacking' really stood out for me - adding movement to tasks we're already doing, and how simple, playful adjustments transform everyday activities into opportunities to build strength, mobility and resilience for the future.
So whether you're dealing with pain, feeling stuck in sedentary patterns, or simply want to set yourself up for a healthier future, Wendy's down-to-earth advice and empowering perspective provide a roadmap to making movement matter in ways that fit seamlessly into real life.

mardi 20 janvier 2026 • Durée 57:34
In today's episode, I chat with the founder of The Business Nest, Robyn Currie, who shares her remarkable entrepreneurial journey from leaving school at the age of 16, to building multiple successful businesses before turning 30.
In our conversation, Robyn talks of the early start to her career, including launching a business as a side hustle at just 19, and how it eventually led to running a thriving family-friendly café for nearly 10 years.
We also explore how Robyn has gone about building The Business Nest into a vibrant networking community over the last three years, creating the supportive environment she herself was seeking post-pandemic. She also shares the realities of being self-employed whilst navigating motherhood, including why she deliberately brings her children to workshops to show other women that they too can do the same.

Caroline conveys the pivotal moment when she realised that no one was going to hand her permission to create a different life, and that instead, she would have to take control and make that change herself, by making a business out of her passion. She describes the reality of managing both worlds as 'walking a very tight rope with a very fragile balance,' offering an honest perspective that moves beyond any superwoman narrative.

Ep 74: Value led entrepreneurship, with Sam Chetwood
Épisode 74
mardi 23 décembre 2025 • Durée 54:09
In today's episode, I chat with the founder of children's shoe fitting business CeCe & Me, Sam Chetwood, who shares how a frustrating shopping experience sparked a remarkable business idea: to create a more supportive, relaxed environment that prioritizes children's foot health, whilst actually making the process of selecting shoes an enjoyable one for all involved!
We start off as Sam opens up about her 15 years in corporate and financial PR, and the struggle for balance she came to face after returning from maternity leave - feeling pulled in two directions and unable to give her best either at work or at home. We learn that as a result, it was during her second maternity leave that Sam made the bold decision to leave corporate life, even without a clear plan for what came next.
As she reflects on building CeCe & Me from the ground up, we delve into the importance Sam places on her guiding business principles, and how building something of her own became a powerful way to show her daughters that they too could achieve anything they set their minds to.
So whether you're contemplating leaving corporate life, searching for your entrepreneurial path, or simply looking for encouragement on your business journey, Sam's honest reflections and deep authenticity offer inspiration for anyone ready to make a leap.
In today's episode, I chat with Juliette Rivett, a CFO turned small business accountant, who shares her remarkable journey from leaping into work at the tender age of 17, to the upper echelons of the corporate finance world.
In our conversation, Juliette shares a number of significant life experiences, from returning to education to gain her degree in later life, and following in her father's footsteps into financial services, to her deeply personal journey in discovering that her daughter has ADHD and autism, and the profound impact this had on her working life. Resonating throughout is a strong sense of Juliette's natural warmth, as she conveys her commitment to putting the human side first; something she attributes to her Christian faith.
Juliette also provides a number of valuable accounting tips and insights, walking us through the new 'Making Tax Digital' rules and their implications for UK sole traders, alongside actionable accounting tips that every small business owner needs to hear. She also explains her philosophy around client clarity, whether that means avoiding industry jargon entirely or taking the time to thoroughly explain the numbers in order to ensure that clients truly understand what's being presented to them rather than feeling overwhelmed or excluded.
So whether you're considering self-employment, navigating the challenges of balancing business with family needs, or simply want to get a better handle on your finances, Juliette's honest reflections and expert advice offer both inspiration and actionable wisdom for the journey ahead.
Ep 72: Empowering parents in the digital age, with Jess Chalmers
Épisode 72
mardi 25 novembre 2025 • Durée 39:15
In today's episode, I chat with Jess Chalmers, a digital safety expert who is on a mission to help guide parents through the complex world of online safety with confidence rather than fear.
Having started out in magazine advertising sales, before running Instagram accounts for local businesses, Jess explains how watching the Netflix documentary 'The Social Dilemma' sparked a profound realisation: that despite her social media expertise, she didn't feel equipped to keep her own children safe online. This moment of clarity was the catalyst for retraining and transforming her business entirely, as she became a specialist in digital safety, working with parents, schools, corporations, and young people themselves.
In this conversation, we explore the overwhelming anxiety many parents feel about their children's online lives, and Jess explains how education is the key to empowerment. She emphasises the importance of doing what's right for your own family rather than worrying about what others are doing, and shares why having open, ongoing conversations with children about their digital world is crucial for building trust and resilience.
It was clear to me how Jess's empathetic approach makes internet safety feel so much more accessible and actionable, and she shares lots of practical tips that listeners can implement immediately, to help with their family's online safety too.
So whether you're feeling overwhelmed by the digital landscape or simply want to feel more confident in guiding your children online, Jess's practical wisdom and supportive approach will leave you feeling both equipped and truly empowered.
