Why do women's health and nutrition differ from men's? Dr. John Lewis joins me to discuss

mercredi 21 janvier 2026Durée 21:55

We would love to hear from you. Click here and let us know what you thought of this episode.

Nutrition and fitness expert Dr. John Lewis says there are many questionable marketing practices when it comes to women's health. The dairy industry is a prime example of that. The research shows that countries with the highest consumption of dairy have the highest rates of osteoporosis; the US being one of them! While cow’s milk is high in calcium, it is also high in protein and low in magnesium, making the calcium from dairy food poorly absorbed. Visit drlewisnutrition.com

John E. Lewis, Ph.D. is the Founder and President of Dr Lewis Nutrition® and past full-time Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and now Voluntary Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He is also a Diplomate, Faculty Member, and Advisor of the Medical Wellness Association. He has been the principal investigator of over 30 different studies in his research career. During that time, he either directly raised or indirectly supported raising over $23 million in grants, gifts, and contracts for research studies and clinical trials and educational programs for medical students.

Could food allergies disappear in children? Meenal LeLe talks about the research, her discoveries and products

mardi 13 janvier 2026Durée 19:52

We would love to hear from you. Click here and let us know what you thought of this episode.

I really enjoyed talking with Meenal.  She is on a mission to remove food allergies in children. Her product Lil Mixins is a great start. She talks about how it can help young parents get through the first year with their newborns.

Meenal addressed many questions on the topic such as:

*Have we stalled in terms of nutrition science or what is needed in the industry to keep making breakthrough discoveries?
*Why is it important to think about nutrition from an early age and
how can it prevent problems later in life?
*Why aren’t more parents aware of the data and the best practices
for allergen introduction?
*What strides have been made in informing and empowering parents to make smart decisions for their children?

Meenal Lele is an entrepreneur with multiple patents, several published clinical studies, and over a dozen profitable medical products. Lele is the founder and CEO of Hanimune Therapeutics which owns Lil Mixins, the only insurance covered brand for food allergy prevention, and Top9Proteins, a B2B suite of
patented proteins for allergists treating food allergies. She is also
the author of The Baby and the Biome, a book written to educate
parents on the true causes of and solutions to allergic disease. As
a food allergy parent, Meenal's mission is to end the food allergy
epidemic in America.

Flavanoids & Hydration - Are you getting enough?

mercredi 26 mars 2025Durée 16:22

We would love to hear from you. Click here and let us know what you thought of this episode.

I learned a lot about flavanoids and hydration talking with Nick Gillitt, CEO of The Osmolality Lab, a research, testing and certification organization for hydration and functional beverage products. Nick discusses how personalized hydration solutions are shaping the future of nutrition and advancing health outcomes.

We also talked about how a lack of flavonoids in the human diet can have negative short-medium and long-term health implications.
 Flavonoids are only available in fruits and vegetables and some grains, they are not present in other foods.
 Any diet with a low fruit and vegetable intake will have a flavonoid gap.

Raising the Alarm: Contaminants in Girl Scout Cookies Signal Bigger Food Safety Issues

lundi 10 mars 2025Durée 27:18

We would love to hear from you. Click here and let us know what you thought of this episode.

I had a great conversation with Dr. Michelle Perro about the New MDS (Moms, Doctors, Scientists) who have initiated an extensive Food Testing Program to test for a variety of toxins in America's foods.  Their most recent testing has uncovered alarming levels of toxins in Girl Scout cookies.

Unfortunately, the testing results for the cookies indicate alarming levels of known neurotoxins and carcinogens and The New MDS are pressing regulators and companies for nontoxic and nutrient-dense foods.

Concerned by the epidemic of chronic disease in our children today, and inspired to take action by their own formative years as Girl Scouts, consumer advocates pediatrician Dr. Michelle Perro, MIT Sr. Research Scientist Dr. Stephanie Seneff, and Moms Across America founding Exec. Dir. Zen Honeycutt have taken the initiative to commission testing for contaminants in our commercial food- in our children's food, particularly. Together, their organizations, GMOScience and Moms Across America, have tested everything from school lunches, fast food, baby food, infant formula, and gluten-free products. Results have been alarming across the board.

Today, their coalition, The New MDS (Moms, Doctors, Scientists) has released the results of testing of Girl Scout cookies for toxic metals and glyphosate/AMPA (an herbicide and its byproduct).

The levels of toxicants found in America's favorite cookies are disturbingly high. More importantly, they are a clear measure of the toxic substances that are contaminating the majority of our food supply through unsafe farming practices or during processing and a call to action for the Girl Scouts to be part of the solution.

Michelle Perro, MD, DHom, CEO and founder, of the non-profit GMOScience.org.
A graduate of Yale, Mount Sinai Medical School, Bellevue Hospital and NYU, Dr Perro has over 40 years in pediatrics and integrative medicine. For the past 25 years, she has championed integrative approaches to health, focusing on the impact of GM foods and pesticides on children’s well-being. She has lectured globally, and co-authored the acclaimed book What’s Making Our Children Sick?

About The New MDS: Mothers, Doctors, and Scientists
The New MDS ( Moms, Doctors, and Scientists) podcast is an arm of GMOScience’s educational outreach. Co-hosts Zen Honeycutt, Dr. Michelle Perro, and Stephanie Seneff, PhD, explore the uptick in chronic health conditions among America’s childrenand investigate common toxic exposures on the monthly  .
