29:57 – Controversy of Epi on vs. Epi Off

38:06 – Biologic Intacs for Advanced Cases

21:46 – What can you do to improve regularity?

44:40 – CK Procedure for Reshaping Cornea

Tweetable Quotes "Keratoconus is like a weakening in the cornea, specifically the collagen fibers. I describe it as a hernia on the eye because it bulges out, causing distortions like double vision, glare, and halos. This can severely impact daily activities like driving at night." (04:23) (Dr.Brian)

"For parents with keratoconus, it's crucial to have your children checked starting around age nine. There's a 15% chance they could develop the condition, and early detection with corneal topography can prevent significant vision loss." (12:00) (Dr.Brian)

"For more advanced keratoconus cases, we use what I call biologic Intacs, or KeraRing segments. These are made of corneal collagen and can be much thicker than traditional Intacs, providing more flattening and better vision improvement." (34:12) (Dr.Brian)

“The Visian ICL is a life-changing procedure for treating high levels of nearsightedness. It involves placing an insertable lens behind the iris and in front of the natural lens, significantly improving vision and often eliminating the need for glasses or contact lenses." (41:07) (Dr.Brian)

Key Takeaways

01:15 – Dr. Brian introduces today’s guest, Dr. Sasha Haddad, who joins the show to discuss the difference between osteopathic and allopathic medicine

11:53 – Is it possible for fully grown adults to grow even more?

15:55 – Consuming organ meats and getting better sleep

21:46 – What can you do to improve regularity?

27:32 – Dr. Brian thanks Dr. Sasha for joining the show for Part One of this series, teases Part Two, and lets listeners know where they can connect with her

Tweetable Quotes “The theory is that the structure and function are interrelated. And when one is off, the other is gonna be off. For example, if you have muscle pain, let’s say your spine is not in the right position, it’s gonna strain the surrounding muscle and tissue. So, if you’re able to adjust and correct the problem, you’re gonna fix the surrounding area and reduce the inflammation.” (08:39) (Dr. Sasha Haddad)

“In life, is anything possible? By nature, very rarely, potentially, maybe. But, medically speaking, by the time you hit puberty - in terms of bone width and height growing taller - I highly disagree, unless something pathologically happened differently.” (13:50) (Dr. Sasha Haddad)

“For the most part when you eat raw meat, the nutrients are present. And, of course, building blocks and protein can help.” (17:21) (Dr. Sasha Haddad)

“I agree, don’t spend your money on something that you don’t necessarily need. What’s better is down time.Try to limit yourself from being on your phone or on your computer a few hours prior to going to sleep. I think that’s way better than all of this.” (19:41) (Dr. Sasha Haddad)

“I think people can take fiber, but it doesn’t help if you’re not hydrating well. So, the key element here is you have to be able to hydrate. You have to have enough fluids in you to have things go through.” (24:59) (Dr. Sasha Haddad)

I have really these big big doubts about the validity of this person who did the video that I’m going to discuss. And it has to do with making your face asymmetrical by sleeping on one’s side. You have to be really careful when you hear this guy’s video so I’ll let you judge for yourself.” (02:27) (Dr. Brian) “On the other hand, if you would sleep on your back, that would be one way of avoiding having the nose turn to one side.” (04:43) (Dr. Brian) “This is something, by the way, that takes years and years to develop. It’s not like you sleep on one side and you wake up and say, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m asymmetrical!’” (05:18) (Dr. Brian) “The facial bones in kids can change with chronic mouth breathing. So, when you’re doing intense exercise for example, you’re lifting weights or doing sprints, it’s Creatine that is providing energy to your muscles.” (02:46) (Dr. Brian) “What a lot of people don’t realize is Creatine is also in your brain. So, Creatine is good for brain health.” (03:43) (Dr. Brian) “Creatine also – and this may be of real interest to you – can increase hormones, specifically growth hormone.” (05:39) (Dr. Brian) “So it’s pretty clear, I think we can establish, that Creatine does amazing things for muscles, not only in strength but also in their growth and bulking too.” (09:18) (Dr. Brian) “Let’s talk about side effects. There is no evidence that Creatine harms the liver or harms the kidneys in healthy people who take normal healthy doses.” (15:01) (Dr. Brian) “If you are losing your hair and you’re taking Creatine, it may not be a bad idea to talk to your doctor and ask to get a simple blood test to see what your DHT level is. DHT stands for Dihydrotestosterone.” (17:41) (Dr. Brian) Resources Mentioned NCHS Links Mentioned NCHS Footer Powered by FullCast

But, when you’re talking about an invasive surgery and your health, you really don’t want to compromise. And, I’ll advise patients that it’s ok to save up for whatever you need to have done and come back when you’re ready. And I think that’s prudent advice.” (08:16) (Dr. Brian) “The ER teaches you a lot about life. And, more importa ntly, it teaches you about things to avoid in life.” (09:26) (Dr. Fayez) “I almost think it’s an epidemic here in the United States of people just of all kinds of backgrounds. There’s no demographic that’s not touched by opioid overdosing, largely because of fentanyl tainting.” (13:53) (Dr. Brian) “To drive home the point - to be repetitive on purpose - even if someone says, ‘Oh, this is my prescription pill that my so - and - so has,’ and it’s really for them, if it’s not your own prescription, please do not take it.” (16:09) (Dr. Brian) Resources Mentioned NCHS Links Mentioned Dr. Fayez’s Instagram Dr. Fayez’s TikTok Dr. Fayez’s LinkedIn NCHS Footer Powered by FullCast

It might be a good way to dispel misinformation being spread. I could gain a more comprehensive perspective as part of my research for the book. And, as I will explain in full subsequent chapters, I thought it showed some promise of providing me with fun and a pleasurable dopamine rush.” (05:40) (Dr. Brian) “There were also occasions when I misstepped and accidentally violated the TikTok community guidelines. Here’s an invaluable hint for every TikTok influencer wannabe. Never post a video of eye surgery on TikTok Live. If you do not heed my advice, welcome to TikTok purgatory.” (08:53) (Dr. Brian) “I cannot do justice to describing the elated feeling that enveloped me on my drive home. I had earned my share of accomplishments throughout my career as a medical professional and surgeon, but had never felt anything like this before. The dopamine swarming in my brain made me feel higher than a coffee addict breaking into a Starbucks coffee shop in the envelope of darkness to swipe all the espresso beans and manically knock back one shot after the other.” (10:52) (Dr. Brian) “Once the viral videos resumed, I approached being an Influencer from an entirely different perspective, one that was grounded and healthy. I had to control my dopamine balance and always put my family first. They are far more important to me than my millions of followers.” (15:42) (Dr. Brian) “So there you have it. My confession. I am a recovered TikTok-aholic. Being an influencer has the potential to be addictive and destructive. Mine is a cautionary tale. But at least I can say I safely made it to the other side with my sanity and family intact.” (16:03) (Dr. Brian) Resources Mentioned NCHS Links Mentioned NCHS Footer Powered by FullCast

If you’re enjoying the show, we’d love it if you leave the show a Rating & Review at RateThisPodcast.com/NoCap Key Takeaways 01:10 – Dr. Brian introduces today’s topic with Dr. Fayez: Why an Apple a Day Doesn’t Keep the Doctor Away 01:38 – Dr. Brian makes an exciting announcement about his upcoming book at https://www.influencedsocialmedia.com 02:13 – Dr. Brian shares a story from his days working in the Emergency Room (ER) 05:20 – Foreign objects in the rectum 14:28 – Dr. Brian thanks Dr. Fayez for joining the show, teases next week’s episode and reminds listeners about his upcoming book and encourages them to Subscribe, Rate and Review this podcast on RateThisPodcast.com Tweetable Quotes “I’m off to the side and I take the blade and I make the skin incision. And I go a little deeper and deeper and then suddenly it’s like a volcano erupting of puss. It literally shoots across the room and hits the door with such fierce intensity because that abscess was under so much pressure that when it was relieved it was like being in Yellowstone Park.”(04:03) (Dr. Brian) “Our generation, after the whole Tide pods thing happened, I feel like we do have to label everything. But, you know, I never saw any Tide pod challenge victims come to the ER. So I guess maybe it wasn’t that popular, which is a good thing.”(08:09) (Dr. Fayez) “For those listening, if you have any stomach surgeries, it causes adhesions which increases your suspicion for a small bowel obstruction where constipation, vomiting, abdominal pain, as Brian said, typically would be the presenting symptoms.”(10:05) (Dr. Fayez) “So we get the CAT Scan, and we see this large circular object literally sitting at the rectum. So, my attending comes in and before we go into the room he’s giving me a prep. He says, ‘Let me ask all the questions.’ So, he walks in and he’s asking the patient questions and it finally comes out that he put an apple up his butt. So, my attending looks at me and gives me this smirk and he turns back to the patient and asks, ‘Was it a green apple or a red apple?’”(10:32) (Dr.Fayez) “Because it was so large, we decided we’re not even gonna mess with it. There are ways that you could actually remove foreign objects. But the issue with removing these foreign objects is you don’t want to perforate anything because then it becomes a big issue.”(13:11) (Dr. Fayez) Resources Mentioned Dr. Brian’s amazing new book on social media, INFLUENCED, featuring his incredible insights and experiences along with many of your favorite influencers. When you get stabbed multiple times, you can actually develop a pneumothorax, which essentially is a collapsed lung.” (08:44) (Dr. Fayez) “There’s so many times in the ER where accidental injuries - and even GSWs (gunshot wounds) - where the bullet literally just barely misses the aorta and lands in the spine but in a way that doesn’t cause any injury to actual the spine itself and these patients escape so luckily.” (15:14) (Dr. Fayez) “I had no idea what was going on. I say, ‘Why is your pregnancy test positive?’ She says, ‘Not only am I sixty-one, but I also haven’t had sex in five years. So, there is absolutely no way that there is any fertilization going on.’” (18:10) (Dr. Fayez) “In medical school, I remember learning that some tumors do produce beta-hcg, which is the marker we use to check for pregnancy. The good thing about this was it was more of a tumor; it wasn’t metastatic. I couldn’t find anything in the liver, or any other parts of the lung, or the brain.” (20:36) (Dr. Brian) Resources Mentioned NCHS Links Mentioned Dr. Fayez’s Instagram Dr. Fayez’s TikTok Dr. Fayez’s LinkedIn NCHS Footer Powered by FullCast

So, it’s affecting how fast the cells communicate with each other. That’s what gives this phenomena of feeling a buzz or feeling drunk.” (04:12) (Dr. Brian) “I remember when I was in medical school...I remember interviewing the patient and one of the things I asked was, ‘How much do you drink a day?’ And, this guy was drinking a case of beer each day. Let’s do a little autopsy on hair. You pluck out your hair; that poor hair follicle is dead. So, we’re gonna do a little autopsy now - a little hair follicle autopsy.” (02:45) (Dr. Brian) “The whole concept of porosity has to do with how much moisture your hair can absorb and retain. So if it’s low porosity, it means that your hair physically cannot get moisture in it.” (03:08) (Dr. Brian) “You can’t necessarily change your porosity. It’s usually due to genetics.
