The Good, The Bad, and The Scroll-Stopping Ugly of Short-Form Video
Épisode 142
lundi 13 octobre 2025 • Durée 22:17
In this episode of The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, hosts Julie Lokun, JD, and Dom Domasky break down the truth about short-form video marketing for entrepreneurs. From TikTok and Instagram Reels to YouTube Shorts and Facebook Stories, they explore how these short videos are shaping today’s digital landscape—and how business owners can use them to grow visibility, engagement, and revenue.
Julie confesses her love for scrolling short-form content and finding recipes online, while admitting that podcasting delivers a stronger ROI for her business. Dominick argues that video remains the most powerful digital touchpoint—a modern version of the sales call—that connects creators to audiences in seconds. Together, they deliver a sharp, entertaining, and educational debate on what works, what doesn’t, and how to use short-form content effectively.
The conversation goes beyond strategy into the realities of entrepreneurship, content creation, and media habits. Julie shares her late-night obsession with true crime series like Monsters by Ryan Murphy, while Dom talks caffeine, captions, and why consistency always wins. Both agree that attention spans are short, and success lies in creating fast, focused, and authentic video content that connects.
Key Topics Covered:
- The power and pitfalls of short-form video for entrepreneurs
- Why consistency is the secret to growth across all platforms
- How to turn short videos into real business opportunities
- The importance of captions, lighting, and format for engagement
- Why creators need to focus on what works and double down on it
- The balance between video, podcasting, and personal branding
About the Hosts:
Julie Lokun, JD, is a communications strategist, podcast host, and founder of The Mediacasters and Cre8tive Con, helping entrepreneurs amplify their voices. Dominick Domasky is a publisher, speaker, and the founder of Motivation Champs, known for empowering authors and creators to share their stories with the world.

College vs. Entrepreneurship: Should Entrepreneurs Skip School to Succeed?
Épisode 139
lundi 6 octobre 2025 • Durée 20:46
Should entrepreneurs go to college or skip it to chase their dreams? In this powerful episode of The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, hosts Julie Lokun, JD and Dominick Domasky debate one of the hottest questions in the entrepreneurial world: Is college worth it for entrepreneurs?
Drawing inspiration from Julie’s viral blog post “Should I Go to College? Debt, Entrepreneurship & The Voices Who Challenged the Norm”, this episode breaks down the real ROI of higher education in today’s economy. With over $1.7 trillion in U.S. student loan debt crushing graduates, is the traditional path outdated for creative thinkers, business builders, and start-up founders?
Julie and Dominick weigh both sides of the argument — from Gary Vaynerchuk’s belief that college is a waste of money, to the undeniable truth that some careers (law, medicine, engineering) still require a degree. This honest conversation challenges listeners to rethink success, risk, and the education system.
🔥 Topics Covered in This Episode:- Why student loan debt may be the biggest barrier to entrepreneurship.
- Gary Vaynerchuk’s controversial stance on college and credentials.
- The rise of alternative education: bootcamps, apprenticeships, and self-learning.
- When college is essential vs. when it’s just a costly tradition.
- How entrepreneurs can build a career through branding, content creation, and freelancing.
- The role of risk tolerance, identity, and self-awareness in shaping your path.
- Debt limits freedom: Student loans can crush entrepreneurial risk-taking.
- Credentials don’t equal success: Your degree won’t guarantee your dream job.
- Not a one-size-fits-all answer: College is vital for some careers, but optional for entrepreneurs.
- Self-education is powerful: In 2025, knowledge is everywhere — from podcasts to YouTube to mentorships.
- Entrepreneurship thrives on execution: It’s not about what you studied, but what you do.
- Julie’s blog: Should I Go to College? Debt, Entrepreneurship & The Voices Who Challenged the Norm
- Gary Vaynerchuk on why college is a bad investment
- Alternative education pathways (coding bootcamps, mentorship programs, online courses)

Getting Over Your Fear Of Public Speaking with Evan Carmichael
Épisode 44
lundi 1 août 2022 • Durée 23:07
Do you have a fear of speaking? Join us today to dig deep with Evan Carmichael on the topic of getting over our fears. Stop living a good life and start living a GREAT life. There are a lot of things that you can do to be good. But what does it take to be great? That's one of the things that we'll delve into in this second part of an obsessed-filled episode featuring Evan Carmichael.
Many people aspire to goodness, but few aspire to greatness. Why is this? Is it because they don't believe they have what it takes? Or is it because they don't know what it takes? It is often said that failure is the key to success. This may be true, but it is also important to remember that greatness can come from failure.
It's not enough to be good at something to be great. You must be passionate about it and willing to put in the hard work to get there. In this episode, we'll explore with Evan what it takes to go from being good at something to being great at it, in addition to digging deeper introspectively with the insights about belief and grief from last week's episode!
Evan believes that entrepreneurs can be successful on their own terms. While dealing with some failures and problems, Evan was still able to find success at a young age and now runs a highly successful YouTube channel, is an author of four books, and is recognized by Forbes as a renowned speaker on leadership and social media. Evan is working to solve the world's biggest problem of people not believing in themselves enough through good karma projects and initiatives that have the potential to impact a billion people.
What You Will Learn From This Episode:
00:53 - Too much cannot be a good enough reason
03:59 - Limiting your talents when it could be greater
05:54 - Going after the greatness
10:58 - Stressing over things while grieving
11:50 - Failing to accomplish your goals and dancing towards success
16:39 - Knowing exactly what you don’t want

Own Your Voice and Grow Your Podcast with Liza Miller, Host of Motorcycles & Misfits
Épisode 40
lundi 27 juin 2022 • Durée 37:57
Get to know the genius behind the successful podcast, Motorcycles & Misfits. Liza Miller started this podcast back in 2013 in the co-op motorcycle garage she runs in Santa Cruz, California, the Re-Cycle Garage. What started as a passionate conversation with a few misfits after turning a wrench on a Sunday afternoon has become a popular podcast that will clear its 500th episode and over 3 million listens this year.
Motorcycles & Misfits is an inclusive haven for passionate motorcyclists of every stripe, age, and walk of life. You'll hear about Liza, Miss Emma, Bagel, Stumpy John, and other Re-cycle Garage Misfits. You'll learn how she grew her podcast through attending events, recording on location, selling merch, and getting excellent guests on her show. From stunt riders like Gary Davis who jumped his motorcycle more successfully than Evel Knievel himself, to Hollywood celebrities like Norman Reedus of Walking Dead and Boondock Saints. Norman Reedus even included their band of misfits on the first episode of his motorcycle focused TV show, Ride with Norman Reedus.

It was an episode that was almost lost due to technical difficulties, offering Liza and her crew a few lessons about using new, untested technology for an important recording. You'll fall in love with the show, and really want to add their podcast to your queue. Check it out here:
