Neck Pain Relief Neuropathic Arm Weakness with Larry || WBWL Ep 83

This is a great episode I made last year that people got a lot of values from. I wanted to put this one back on just in case you have missed this.
This was an amazing interview with one of my most ambitious clients, Larry, who suffered with neck pain that became so bad that he lost strengthen in his dominant arm.
The neck has delicate relations to the nerves that go down the arm and control sensation and motor control. So when nerves are pinched acutely or chronically over time, it can lead to temporary but sometimes permanent weakness of your arm.
This was Larry’s fear, considering how often he used that arm for weight training, exercise, and being at the computer for his job.
After weeks of working with him, we were able to eliminate majority of his neck pain, restore function in his arm, and get him back to a state of normalcy.
I’ve been thankful to meet people like Larry who was ambitious enough but brave enough to seek out rehab and coaching outside of traditional means to get him to his health goals.

The risk of NOT weight training || WBWL Ep. 81

There’s a lot of things that are risky in life.
But there’s not a lot of things more risky than NOT weight training.
It’s imperative that everyone with arms and legs should indoctrinate weight training into their life at least 3-5 days per week.
As someone who’s helped thousands of people do things such as return to running, lose 10-30 lbs, reverse diabetes, overcome cancer-related weakness or neuropathy, get back to playing with their kids…
All these people who we’ve helped achieved these goals through weight training.
Weight training is not the only form of exercise out there, and there are other factors involved to enhance your health…
But there are not many as potent and beneficial.
I get a little raw and dark in this episode, and we may go down some paths that you don’t wanna head down.
But I hope it compels you to incorporate some form of weight training in your life today.

In this episode, Carly Brown, a current member of the Pain Free Academy community, shares her emotional journey through chronic pain. Carly is a busy mom and digital marketer from the UK; her journey is similar to many of our other clients.
For years, she struggled with chronic knee pain and felt disabled at the age of 21. She was diagnosed with early knee arthritis, and for close to 10 years, she consistently was let down by her country's healthcare system. As a mom of 2, she was unable to kneel, play, or squat down to play with her kids, and she was fearful of doing any exercises that would worsen her pain.
After finding Dr. Jay, through a hashtag, she joined the Pain Free Academy, and was able to lower her pain levels from an 8 to a 2 in her first day as a member. She continued to progress and is now lifting weights, running, and being the version of 'mum', she always wanted to be.

Chronic pain affects 1 in 4 people in the world! It affects 80x more people than Covid-19. And it is something I've dedicated my life to solving. I also dealt with years of chronic neck and back issues, and it was so painful, that I contemplated not having kids. Or I thought to myself "if I were to have kids, I wouldn't be a good father cause I wouldn't be able to do things with them without pain".

100% of the time, the long-term solution is never the easy one. And too many people in the world struggling with pain are looking for the 'easy' button.

If you're short on time and never feel like you have a chance to breathe or to get in exercise, I'll teach you a few strategies I use to maximize my time.
Since we need to spend time to get rid of our pain, exercise more, we need to have a better footing or control of our time.
I say this to my clients is that time spent in pain is time spent away from things you truly want to do.
So rather than delay things and wait for pain to worsen --i.e only uses more time in your life...
It's better to learn these strategies and create more time to incorporate pain relief strategies.

Neck pain relief & neuropathic arm weakness || Larry Ep 47

This was an amazing interview with one of my most ambitious clients, Larry, who suffered with neck pain that became so bad that he lost strengthen in his dominant arm.
The neck has delicate relations to the nerves that go down the arm and control sensation and motor control. So when nerves are pinched acutely or chronically over time, it can lead to temporary but sometimes permanent weakness of your arm.
This was Larry’s fear, considering how often he used that arm for weight training, exercise, and being at the computer for his job.
After weeks of working with him, we were able to eliminate majority of his neck pain, restore function in his arm, and get him back to a state of normalcy.
I’ve been thankful to meet people like Larry who was ambitious enough but brave enough to seek out rehab and coaching outside of traditional means to get him to his health goals.

Wanna know the secret sauce to being consistent with exercise?
Many will have different driving factors.
Some just wanna look good, but in my opinion, it’s a shallow factor and therefore you can become inconsistent.
Some are motivated when they’re in pain. When pain is bad, you do something about it!
But when there’s little to no pain, many will become inconsistent or stop exercising because the pain’s not there anymore.
So how can you stay brutally consistent so that you can live longer, be healthier, and not fall ill or disabled with getting older?
For me, it’s family.
I share my driving factors as to what makes me so consistent that I guarantee I’ll always be healthy and fit as I get older.
It’s a bit of an emotional episode talking about family and all.
But I hope it inspires at least one person that listens.

One of my favorite things to do is to interview my clients months after they’ve worked with us and to see how they’re still showing up for themselves.
