Well TedHeads–here we are at the end of the “Ted Lasso” yellow brick road, and our final episode! This week Dimple and Jeff delve into Episode 12: "So Long, Farewell” and much like the TV show, come full circle and find some closure. In this episode we look at where our cast of characters end up and the various leadership and positive psychology themes from all three seasons that show up once more. We reflect on change, perfectionism, and always remembering that we’ll forever be, “works in prog-mess.”
We have bittersweet feelings about this being our final episode, but we’re both filled with immense gratitude, not only for the opportunity to make this show, but for the connections we’ve made with many of you along the way. Thank YOU for joining us on this journey. Our greatest hope is that more of us will embody the “Lasso Way” and live life with curiosity, vulnerability, forgiveness, and grace. We’ll end by echoing the sentiments of AFC Richmond and simply say–so long, farewell, thank you for everything, and please keep in touch!

I (Don’t Want to Go to) Chelsea
Season 3 · Episode 2
lundi 8 mai 2023 • Duration 01:03:40
What do second chances plus curiosity equal? Pure magic! And pure magic is exactly what we get as we dive into episode 2 - I (Don’t Want to Go to) Chelsea where Dimple and Jeff continue our exploration of this season’s overarching theme of facing our fears. In addition, we talk about origin stories, the impact of regrets, and our favorite theme of all - just being human.
Episode 2 is rich with examples of brave leadership and accountability as we watch several of our main characters step up and engage in tough conversations rather than putting them off. This episode also highlights how our mindset can make us or break us as we contrast the limiting, albeit protective power of the inner critic with two little words that can provide us with an opportunity to change our trajectory in life and make new choices.
“I think the term ‘not yet’ is so powerful because with anything if you add the word “yet” at the end of it - there are so many things in our life that I may not be good at this - yet - but I have the capacity to practice or do whatever to shift that. It’s this way of shifting our mindset a little bit.” (Dimple 45:20)
In This Episode
[03:20] Keeley’s dynamic with the CFO.
[10:00] Ted bringing Trent into the team.
[11:00] Zava’s real-life counterpart Swedish star Zlatan.
[13:10) The two overarching themes that in the episode.
[17:35] Jamie’s growth arc in the show.
[19:10] On the expression of empathy.
[28:11] Keeley’s confidence and standing in her leadership with curiosity.
[33:08] Trent and Roy’s history and origin stories.
[35:50] Recalling Chelsea's locker room scene and Trent walking in.
[40:35] Dimple elaborates on the idea of the inner critic.
[45:20] The power of “not yet” and how it relates to having a growth mindset.
[50:01] Rebecca’s origin story and being groomed by a narcissist..
[56:45] Letting go of results.
[58:10] On Zava deciding to play for Richmond.
[59:49] Final takeaways.

Midnight Train to Royston
Season 2 · Episode 11
lundi 27 février 2023 • Duration 01:07:51
This week we dive into Season 2 Episode 11 - Midnight Train to Royston. Jam packed with so many unfinished storylines, this episode gave Jeff and Dimple a lot to talk about!
The arrival of a Ghanaian billionaire looking to dismantle colonialism one football player at a time. Nate’s misreading of so many situations. Roy and Keeley trying to grow into their own even as they do the work to stay together. Ted and Dr. Sharon’s final moments together. Trent Crimm’s decision to buck ethics in favor of protecting someone he’s grown to respect. It’s ego, passion, love, and betrayal, all packed into a heavy hitting episode that left Jeff and Dimple with a lot of unresolved questions.
Check out the episode to hear Jeff and Dimple as they reflect on the episode’s development. Dimple talks about the five ways our nervous system reacts when it is activated and compares those reactions with the events and dialogues unfolding throughout the episode and much more!
“When I think about ego, ego is one of those things, like in my work I talk about the five ways that we react when our nervous system is activated. Fight or flight. Fight, flight, freeze which we are all familiar with. Fix and then something called Fake. And fake is the one where we double down, and we pretend. We do everything we can to show people that we have power. That we are perfectionists or we’re perfect in what we are doing and we don’t need help. All these things. So to me, this is very much like this ego is really like Nate’s fight or flight response to me.” Dimple – (55:28)

No Weddings and a Funeral
Season 2 · Episode 10
lundi 20 février 2023 • Duration 01:07:30
This week, we dive into episode 10 - No Weddings and a Funeral and explore the concept of death and grief; the ritual of celebrating those who have passed on; how we as humans react to loss of life; how an occasion of sadness can also bring moments of joy and more pertinently, how the characters in the episode portrayed these emotions both as givers and receivers.
Listen as Jeff and Dimple draw from their own experiences as they reflect on the episode. Jeff talks about losing his father and meeting some family members for the very first time. Moreover, Dimple talks about her complex relationship with her dad and how she realized that in order to forgive and find compassion, she had to remember the good things and let go of hanging on to the bad.
“In this country, I feel like we have no real ritual around death. You think about a lot of cultures. I know in my culture, the Hindu culture. You look at Mexico with the day of the dead and like so many other places I know that really celebrate the lives that people led and honor the ancestors. And even especially here like Native American communities, Indigenous communities, you see a lot of rituals around death. It’s just awkward here for most people. People don’t want to talk about it. They don’t know how to talk about it, especially in the workplace. – Dimple (02:30)

Beard After Hours
Season 2 · Episode 9
lundi 13 février 2023 • Duration 01:10:13
Have you ever noticed that we often make assumptions about people based on the briefest of interactions with them. We jump to conclusions about who they are and why they behave a certain way without having the full story.
The reality is that most people are walking around wearing a mask and just trying to survive, and we have no idea what’s actually happening in their life.
Think of tWitch, Robin Williams, Anthony Bourdain, and Chester Bennington to name a few. All of these people were known for something specific - and when they passed, we learned there was much about them kept in the shadows because they felt pressured to be what the world perceived them to be. This week’s episode is jam-packed with symbolism, reminding us that things aren’t always what they seem.
Here, we’re breaking down several powerful themes, including the impact of the inner critic and how it shows up in our lives, feeling lost and the masks we wear to protect ourselves, and how toxic relationships can make their way into our lives.
We also discuss the value of being able to “unmask” oneself, the complexities of human interaction that lead people to suffer in silence, the idea of having access to people, and the desire to belong.
“You can’t be another way because I only know you this way, and I expect only this from you. I expect Ted Lasso - happiness, joy, and none of this weird stuff- and it’s just like, you gotta let people be more than just one aspect of themselves, you know? And I think we need to embrace that more because that’s just a healthier…you know, coming from a positive psychology way of allowing all the feelings to show up.” – Jeff (09:48)

Man City
Season 2 · Episode 8
lundi 6 février 2023 • Duration 01:04:52
Vulnerability can be scary; it's hard to be vulnerable, even if you know you have a “safe space” in which to be vulnerable. This episode of Ted Lasso emphasizes this idea in a relatable way. This week’s episode, “Man City,” is jam-packed with storylines and interesting dynamics with our favorite characters.
In this episode, we’re breaking down several powerful themes, such as relationships between fathers and sons, understanding our influence on others, and the importance of vulnerability for creating connections.
We also go on to discuss the intersections of leadership and relationships on and off the soccer pitch, the power of healthy male relationships, the detrimental effects of toxic masculinity, and how loneliness manifests in unexpected places and in unexpected ways.
“You never know what is happening for other people. You can have people who come across as, like, really strong and happy and whatever…it goes to that space of not making assumptions.” – Dimple (27:54)

Headspace
Season 2 · Episode 7
lundi 30 janvier 2023 • Duration 01:02:17
This week, we jump into Season 2, Episode 7 of Ted Lasso, “Headspace.” In this episode, we look at where several of our characters are in their own headspace and how they got there.
Some of the main areas of discussion include breaking down and exploring themes of trauma in various forms, setting boundaries in life and relationships, what self-care really looks like, and the role of assertiveness in leadership.
We also explore the need for external validation, how striving for perfection is in vain, how our inherent negativity bias impacts our confidence, how toxic behavior can be contagious, and how leaders can help people co-regulate their nervous systems and get out of a reactive state.
“I think there are a lot of leaders out there that are strong leaders that don’t… you know, like how Rebecca was saying in, I think, two episodes ago about how you don’t have to yell. You just have to be assertive. And so I think there’s a lot of leaders who areassertive and they’re good at what they do, and they’re strong without having to be mean.” – Dimple (4:31)
