Welcome to VOICE POWER Season 4 Episode 17. My very special guest today started with a vision to globally connect different businesses and help them succeed together. Today we have an educator and senior executive, very experienced, focused & talented. His record of leadership in companies ranging from entrepreneurial ventures to two of the FORTUNE 50,  The Walt Disney Company and Nestle. Kenton Low is The  Dean of BCIT's School  of Business & Media & a BOARD Director & Advisor & joined BCIT in February, 2022.

Born and raised in Vancouver Educated at UBC with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and UCLA  with a Master of Business Administration Degree.

Chosen by BCIT  because of his extensive background in business & education.  Kenton held roles including Chief Marketing Officer for both Vancity and
Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, President of New Media BC and CEO for Robeez
Footwear. Before returning to Vancouver, Kenton spent 25 years in California
where he served as President for Universal Studios Online and Corporate Chief
Marketing Officer for Universal Studios. Kenton was also Vice President at
Disney’s Internet Group, Disney Interactive, and Walt Disney Imagineering where
he led international development and coordinated the activities of a multi-
disciplinary team that resulted in approval to build Hong Kong Disneyland.

As an educator, Kenton has taught strategic planning, marketing, and customer
experience courses at corporate training programs and North American
universities, including UBC’s Sauder School of Business.

Away from the business community, Kenton has served as a board member for
organizations including United Way, Junior Achievement, the H.R. MacMillan
Space Centre, and the Los Angeles Food Bank.

VOICE POWER reaches audiences in 54 countries ... with Canada and the USA leading the charge,  Through podcasting i have developed a system that works. It is interesting the variety of ways i connect with people & business owners. One in particular is Thomas Sha-jan founder & director of Pre-min-ent...We met last year October at a networking event in Port Coquitlam. He was very interested in my podcast & asked a lot of questions & I was happy to answer him. I love talking about voice-over & podcasting & it was a long process of building trust with each other. Then in February this year he was my special guest for an in studio interview. His passion, education, & expertise about his non-profit made him an ideal guest & we enjoyed an engaging conversation. 

When you hear my podcasts there is soooo much more that goes in to ... We start with a discovery call & the pre interview.

Using their Linkedin profile & Face book info to carefully write their questions. During the interview I listen very carefully for secondary questions.  I think one of the funniest ones was when Amy Bell from CBC described her very early morning routine. She would have her coffee & breakfast & talk to her dog. Then i asked what does your dog say & we had a good laugh. Interviewing is fun & includes a lot of spontaneity.  That is why in the pre interview I never tell the guest what the exact questions are. What I do is go over the areas of questions,  ... to cover everything in the pre-interview so that they are totally comfortable & relaxed in the interview. It is simply a conversation.

 It is so easy because I have had success in removing background noises... In a previous interview in season 2 my guest an Emmy award winning  tv producer ...

I love  finding interesting people to give you quality interviews from a variety of experiences. Today will be our first grief educator interview. Last October I attended Small Business BC’s networking event at The Anvil Centre in New Westminster BC. I was very happy to meet Suzanne Ja-bour.   

Suzanne’s son passed away in September of 2020. Through her grieving  she  has found meaning in her loss by providing grief education. Sharing how grief really works and how we can support people experiencing it. She works with organizations and businesses to build the skills and protocols to better support people who are grieving at work. Suzanne is available as a speaker to share her story and help normalize grief as a healthy response to losses big and small. She has a Bachelor of Arts  and Bachelor of Education from UBC and decades of experience as a trainer. She is a certified Grief Educator from David Kessler Grief Educator Training , Transformational Coach and Workshop Leader with Training from The Institute for Women Centred Coaching, Training & Leadership.

When talking with Suzanne I found her to be very approachable, knowledgable & passionate about grief education. I am looking forward to learning more from her practical experience & training on this subject that is often over looked & yet so needed,  as we all will face grief at one time or another. Reflecting on my voice-over & podcast journey to achieving 2500 downloads. December 15, 2023 that BUZZSPROUT....

From  Carl Richard’s seminars i put into practice &... Then i would contact him & ... knowledge from radio, toastmasters, & podcasting. Not only that he epitomizes the quote of Zig Ziglar “ You can have ...Carl’s positve attitude & encouragement is a big reason why....

In season 1 you will notice more topics & over the 3 seasons you will notice an increase. Season 1 had 37.5% of interviews. By the end of season 3 interviews jumped to 60 percent.  In season 1 episode 15  The JOY & AWESOMENESS of INTERVIEWING

The highest downloaded interview is with Amy Bell of CBC radio...she took us into the emotion & feeling of going on TV at Global for the first time. She told us her early morning routine . Amy said how she  would start her day & would talk to her dog while having breakfast. I loved the humour that we generated as when she told about her dog. I asked jokingly well what did your dog say.  Season 1 episode 20 AMY BELL's CBC & GLOBAL SUCCESS JOURNEY to hear the whole story & her amazing experience in radio & TV.

For my interviews my purpose for you is to provide interesting quality content from a variety of interviews which include:   Radio including Sales, Toastmasters, Coaches- business, speaking & accent,... & many more. In the future i will have a grief educator & already in  episode 1  from the financial services industry.

One of the most compelling interviews was a person who experienced near death in Gaza. My interview Near Death to Abundant Life with Linda Todd Season 2 episodes 16 & 17. What was amazing... her energy & lively sense of humour.
