Your Midlife Body Will Change, But Your Joy Doesn't Have To
Season 8 · Episode 140
Monday, June 30, 2025 • Duration 26:49
The moment hit me at 63, suddenly noticing my body changing in ways I never expected. That shocking realization led to this powerful conversation with mindset coach Cheryl Fisher about navigating midlife body changes with grace and intention rather than resignation.
What we say to ourselves about our changing bodies matters profoundly. When we constantly verbalize negative thoughts about midlife weight gain, we're unwittingly programming our minds to accept defeat. Fisher reveals how many women fall into patterns of body complaints as a way to connect with others through shared struggles, creating a downward spiral of self-fulfilling prophecies. She offers transformative mindset tools anyone can use immediately, like her ingenious "but affirmations" technique that acknowledges struggles while redirecting focus toward possibility.
Fisher also shares surprising ways to transform your money mindset through simple practices that create positive financial experiences and open you to abundance.
As your body inevitably changes, your relationship with it doesn't have to deteriorate. By identifying what truly brings joy and enthusiasm, you can find new directions that honor your authentic self rather than limiting your vision based on age. Ready to transform your midlife experience? Listen now and discover how to shift from focusing on what you've lost to embracing what's possible.

Freedom from Pain at Any Age:Karen Statner's Journey Through Somatic Healing
Season 8 · Episode 139
Sunday, June 29, 2025 • Duration 31:18
Karen Stattner vividly recalls the day she fractured her back in a riding accident—a moment that would launch her on an unexpected journey into the world of somatic healing. Despite diligently following her physical therapist's advice to strengthen her core through Pilates, she remained in pain with restricted movement for years. The most frustrating part? Her X-rays showed everything had healed structurally.
In this powerful episode, Karen shares how discovering clinical somatics finally gave her lasting relief. She introduces the eye-opening concept of sensory motor amnesia—those unconscious tension patterns your brain forgets how to release. The game-changer? A gentle, brain-based technique called pandiculation that helps you retrain your nervous system and let go of chronic holding, for good.
What makes this approach truly revolutionary is how it puts healing power back in your hands. Instead of dependence on practitioners for temporary relief, Karen teaches people to recognize and release their tension patterns for lasting change. The results extend far beyond pain relief, as she demonstrates how our muscles hold not just physical tension but emotional patterns as well. By releasing chronic muscular holding, we simultaneously address the stress, anxiety, and emotional states connected to it.
Karen reveals how somatic healing isn’t just about pain relief. It’s about reconnecting with your body, releasing emotional stress, and reclaiming freedom of movement at any age. Whether you're managing chronic pain, healing from injury, or simply looking to move more freely as you age, this episode offers practical tools and hope.
You'll even learn a simple somatic practice to try immediately, and discover why your body has the power to change, no matter your age or condition. Visit Karen at somatichabit.co.uk to learn more about this life-changing approach.

Mastering Menopause: How Blood Flow Restriction Training Transforms Hormones and Body Composition
Season 8 · Episode 141
Wednesday, May 21, 2025 • Duration 30:19
Have you noticed a sudden shift in your body after menopause, despite maintaining your usual exercise routine? That unexplained weight around your middle, loss of muscle tone, and decreased energy isn't your imagination—it's your hormones working against you.
Award-winning fitness coach Ashley Selman reveals the missing piece of the midlife fitness puzzle that most women never hear about: as estrogen drops during menopause, human growth hormone (HGH) plummets alongside it. This hormonal double-whammy explains why traditional workouts stop delivering results after 45, and why some exercise approaches might actually be making things worse.
The good news? There's a scientifically-proven training method that can reverse these changes by naturally stimulating HGH production—without requiring heavy weights, intense impact, or hours at the gym. Blood Flow Restriction training has been used safely for decades in medical settings and is now becoming accessible to everyday women looking to reclaim their strength, energy and body composition during midlife.
Through this enlightening conversation, you'll discover why muscle truly is your friend after 45, how to activate the specific muscle fibers that diminish with age, and why just 20 minutes three times weekly can transform how you feel and function.
Ready to stop fighting your changing hormones and start working with them? Listen now to discover how this approach could transform not just how you look, but how you'll feel and function for decades to come. Your future self will thank you.

Fear-based Thoughts or Authentic Inner Guidance? How to Hear What Your Inner Wisdom Is Telling You
Episode 140
Wednesday, May 21, 2025 • Duration 27:08
What if the wisdom you're seeking has been within you all along? That quiet, steady voice nudging you toward your true path isn't just wishful thinking—it's your intuition speaking. But how do we distinguish between fear-based thoughts and authentic inner guidance?
Intuitive consultant Jenn Cohen joins us to explore the transformative power of intuition, particularly during midlife transitions. Drawing from her years collaborating with major studios like DreamWorks and NBC Universal, Jen reveals how intuition operates as our "first sense" rather than merely a sixth sense—a natural faculty we all possess but often neglect.
The conversation delves into practical ways to recognize when you're ignoring your intuitive signals. Those feelings of irritation, exhaustion, and constant second-guessing? They're clues you're resisting your inner wisdom. Jen expertly distinguishes between the constriction of fear and the expansive clarity of intuition: "Intuition is not here for smallness, it's here for greatness."
For those in midlife particularly, this episode offers a refreshing perspective on how intuition becomes even more valuable as we accumulate wisdom and life experience. As Jen reminds us, this natural guidance system can help us navigate career transitions, relationships, and daily decisions with greater ease, authenticity, and purpose—if only we learn to listen.
Bio
For as long as Jenn Cohen can remember, she’s been drawn to the intuitive and psychic realm. That curiosity deepened at age 20 when her father passed away suddenly. On the night of his funeral, she asked aloud, “Are you here?”—and watched as a bedside lamp turned on and off repeatedly. In that moment, she knew without question he was with her.
Since then, subtle signs and messages from the other side have continued to guide her. While she didn’t always listen, she noticed that when she shared these experiences, people were deeply moved—curious, silent, and comforted.
After 27 years in the Entertainment Industry, she realized her most powerful and transformational moments came from deeper, intuitive connections. Though leaving the corporate world wasn’t easy, and fear showed up loudly, she began to question the old narratives she had believed for so long.
From Wheelchair to Wellness: The Truth About Weight Loss They Don't Tell You
Season 8 · Episode 139
Wednesday, May 14, 2025 • Duration 26:01
What if everything you've been told about weight loss is wrong? The story of Sheila Kelty will transform how you think about health and weight management forever. From an electric wheelchair, facing imminent death with lupus, diabetes, and 130 extra pounds—to vibrant health without exercising. This isn't just another weight loss story; it's a complete paradigm shift.
The traditional weight loss narrative revolves around willpower, calorie counting, and intense workouts. Yet these approaches often fail us, especially as we age. Sheila reveals why "calories in, calories out" is a fundamentally flawed concept and how high-intensity workouts can actually trigger hormonal responses that cause weight gain. The $76 billion diet industry thrives on our failure—your struggle isn't a willpower issue; it's built into their business model.
Sheila's approach focuses on optimizing overall health rather than just attacking symptoms. By addressing the root causes of weight gain—from hormonal imbalances to gut health—the body naturally releases excess weight without deprivation or punishment. This is about creating sustainable lifestyle changes that become effortless over time, not white-knuckling through another temporary diet.
Ready to transform your relationship with food, exercise, and your body? The Vibe Reboot Summer Challenge starting May 27th offers a six-week program scientifically designed to help you release 10-15 pounds while addressing the underlying factors that have kept you stuck. Previous participants collectively lost over 100 pounds and 17 feet off their bodies. Don't miss this opportunity to join a supportive community and discover what's truly possible for your health.

When the Brain Lies: The Paradox of Overthinking and Anxiety
Season 8 · Episode 138
Tuesday, May 13, 2025 • Duration 33:41
Ever noticed how your brain tries to convince you that overthinking is just part of the process? In this illuminating conversation with psychotherapist Lindsey Carnick, we unravel the fascinating paradox at the heart of anxiety and overthinking.
Lindsey introduces a powerful metaphor that might forever change how you view anxious feelings: anxiety is merely an alarm system, not the threat itself. Just like a smoke detector that goes off when you're cooking or taking a hot shower, our internal alarm systems frequently signal problems that don't actually exist. The key isn't to fear the alarm but to recognize it as information that might—or might not—require action.
We explore why thinking has become our go-to strategy for everything (it's been tremendously successful in most areas of life!), and why this same strategy fails us miserably when applied to our emotional world. The feelings and thoughts can coexist without reinforcing each other, a skill that takes practice but offers tremendous freedom.
The most valuable takeaway might be Lindsay's simple but profound question for breaking free from overthinking spirals: "Is it happening right now?" Our minds create vivid "mind movies" about potential futures that trigger real physiological responses to imagined scenarios. Learning to anchor ourselves in the present moment offers a gentle off-ramp from these mental loops.
For anyone struggling with anxiety, overthinking, or the tendency to stuff emotions, this conversation offers practical tools, compassionate insights, and a new framework for understanding your mind's patterns. You'll walk away with specific strategies to create space between reactions and responses, honor your feelings without being ruled by them, and recognize when your thinking isn't serving you.

When Dementia Chooses You: Carla Preyer’s Story of Caregiving, Survival, and Support
Season 8 · Episode 137
Friday, May 2, 2025 • Duration 24:58
When the unexpected diagnosis of Lewy body dementia struck Carla Preyers's husband, she found herself thrust into a role she never anticipated. "The journey chose me," she explains, recounting the four-year battle for a proper diagnosis and the profound challenges that followed. This conversation reveals the often-invisible struggles caregivers face when supporting loved ones with dementia.
The emotional heart of this episode lies in Carla's honest discussion of caregiver self-preservation. Her commitment to morning prayers, positive environments, and regular exercise wasn't just about wellness—it was survival. "I had to manage my energy," she shares, explaining how negativity directed at someone with dementia "comes back to you triple." Her story has now found wider resonance through the documentary "Facing the Wind," executive produced by Yo-Yo Ma, Yolanda Wong, and David Hyde Pierce, which chronicles the journey of dementia caregivers across America.
Are you caring for someone with cognitive decline or concerned about a loved one showing symptoms? Reach out to Carla through the links on our show page to learn how you might bring the "Facing the Wind" documentary to your community and join the growing advocacy movement for better dementia care and caregiver support.
Carla's Story
My husband, Patrick Preyer, was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in 2018. For eight years, I walked alongside him as his caregiver until his peaceful transition in January 2023. Through heartbreak and healing, I learned how vital faith, community, and support are—especially for caregivers who often feel invisible.
That journey is now told in the documentary Facing the Wind, which candidly captures our experience with dementia, caregiving, and the importance of self-care. This film was born out of connection—sparked by the Lewy Body Spouses Support Group on Facebook—and nurtured into a message of hope and resilience.
I'm proud to share that Facing the Wind premiered at DOC NYC, one of the nation’s leading documentary festivals, and was recently featured on People.com. The film is executive produced by Renée Fleming, Yo-Yo Ma, and David Hyde Pierce.
As a caregiver self-care coach, I now dedicate my life to supporting those who give so much of themselves. While organizations like Voices Inclusive Research focus on providing a voice in clinical research to the community, my passion is to amplify the voices of the women caring behind the scenes—quiet heroes who need to be seen, supported, and sustained.
