Nels is an Associate Professor of Sport Administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and serves as the Co-Director for the Center of Research and Intercollegiate Athletics. His research interests include revenue generation for college athletic departments with a particular emphasis on sport ticket sales at both the collegiate and professional sport levels.
They discussed fan monetization strategies, opportunities for new revenue streams, treating data as currency, the importance of understanding the distinct difference between price and value, the need to engage better with displaced fans and much more.
