As a Men’s Dating, Relationships & Intimacy coach, coaching men for over a decade, David Chambers guides men to build deep emotional connections, self-confidence, and experience connected sexual intimacy by helping them build self-awareness, emotional intelligence and self-leadership.

We cover an extremely diverse range of topics, from men’s issues with vulnerability and expression, to skillful communication in conflict, to intimacy, and even a bit around mindful masturbation and healthy self-pleasure.
If that last topic makes you squeamish, we’ve saved it for the end, so you can still listen to the full episode and get all the rest of David’s wisdom, and when that part comes, you’re welcome to skip it (but I do highly recommend checking it out, even if it’s out of your comfort zone, as I think it’s an incredibly important topic).
As always, if you enjoy these podcasts the best way to support the show is to leave us a written review on Apple Podcasts, which you can do anonymously.

Watch This Before Starting Your Porn Recovery! 5 Things They Don't Tell You...
54. Watch This Before Starting Your Porn Recovery! 5 Things They Don't Tell You...
You’re listening to the "Unhooked Podcast.” Welcome back to the show.
Welcome to another episode of Unhooked: The Breaking Point Addiction Podcast. I'm your host, Jeremy Lipkowitz. Today, I want to dive into some crucial insights they don't often share before you embark on your porn recovery journey. You see, it's essential to prepare yourself for the challenges that lie ahead, so you don't approach this journey with rose-colored glasses, thinking it'll be a walk in the park.
First, let's talk about the harsh truth: willpower alone won't cut it. Addiction, especially to something as deeply ingrained as porn, requires more than sheer determination and self-control. You're essentially swimming against a strong current if you rely solely on willpower. In this episode, we'll explore how you can supplement your willpower with knowledge and external support to increase your chances of success.
Another vital point is that if you don't address the root causes of your addiction, your recovery will be short-lived. Many people make the mistake of only focusing on the surface-level behavior without delving into the underlying causes of their addiction. We'll discuss the importance of exploring these underlying issues and developing healthier coping mechanisms.
Withdrawal symptoms are a common part of the recovery process, but they're often not discussed. Understand that these symptoms, like anxiety, irritability, and even mood swings, are part of your body adjusting to the change. We'll also explore ways to cope with these symptoms effectively.
Recognizing triggering situations is our fourth point. Certain places, emotional states, or stressors can lead to relapse. We'll discuss the importance of having a plan in place to deal with these triggers when they inevitably arise.
Lastly, we'll emphasize that recovery takes time and patience. It's not a linear progression, and setbacks are part of the journey. The key is to remain committed to your recovery goals, celebrate your successes, and keep moving forward, no matter how small the steps may seem.
Remember, healing is a gradual process, and every day without porn is a step in the right direction. So stay patient, stay determined, and most importantly, don't give up on yourself. This is a lifelong journey of growth and evolution.

52. The #1 Tool for Dealing with Cravings and Urges In the Moment - The Mindfulness Practice of RAIN
In today's episode, I introduce you to a powerful mindfulness practice called RAIN. RAIN is an acronym that stands for Recognize, Accept, Investigate, and Non-identify or Nurture.
Here's a quick rundown of each step:
Recognize: Begin by noticing and labeling the craving or emotion you're experiencing in the moment.
Accept or Allow: Instead of resisting or judging the emotion, embrace it and let it be without trying to push it away.
Investigate: Dive deeper by exploring how the emotion feels in your body, creating a helpful gap between you and the intense feeling.
Non-identify or Nurture: Choose between recognizing that you are not the emotion or offering yourself self-compassion and care.
You can use RAIN whenever you face a strong craving or urge. To make it a habit, jot down the acronym and place it in visible spots as a reminder. Challenge yourself to practice it for a week, especially when dealing with compulsive behaviors.
Don't forget to ask what the emotion truly needs in that moment, whether it's connection or rest.
Feel free to reach out to me with your experiences, questions, or feedback on how RAIN is working for you. Thanks for tuning in, and have a wonderful day and life!

49. Arlina Allen - 12-Step Recovery and the God Question: Demystifying the 12 Steps
Welcome to another episode of the Unhooked podcast! I'm your host, Jeremy, and today, we have a truly special guest with us. Arlina Allen is a Certified Recovery Coach, the Founder of Sober Life School, and the host of the award-winning recovery podcast "The One Day At A Time Podcast," which she's been running since June 2016.
In this episode, Arlina and I dive deep into her remarkable journey in addiction recovery. She shares her insights on identifying the root causes of addiction and alleviating unnecessary suffering. Arlina opens up about her own traumatic experiences from childhood and how they led her down the path of addiction as a coping mechanism.
One of the core themes we explore is the idea that addiction is often a symptom of deeper issues. Arlina emphasizes the importance of addressing these underlying issues and discusses the role of 12-step programs in her own recovery journey. These programs provided her with a structured process for self-examination and self-compassion, which proved to be invaluable in her healing process.
Throughout our conversation, we also touch on various aspects of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and the broader topic of addiction recovery. Arlina sheds light on why some individuals have strong reactions to terms like "alcoholic" and how it can be seen as both a badge of honor and a source of shame.
We delve into the history of AA meetings and how the practice of introducing oneself as an alcoholic became a common tradition. The concept of powerlessness in AA and its relationship to addiction recovery is another point of discussion, with Arlina offering her unique perspective.
Arlina shares her insights on the role of a higher power in the recovery process and highlights the importance of community and social support. Sharing one's struggles with others can be a powerful tool in preventing relapse.
In our conversation, Arlina highlights several key takeaways, including:
Misconceptions about AA and how reframing certain words and concepts can lead to a deeper understanding.
The transformative process in recovery and how discomfort and resistance can ultimately lead to personal growth.
An openness to different paths to recovery, beyond AA, including psychedelic-assisted therapies.
The incredible power of service in the recovery journey, both for personal growth and helping others.
A teaser for a future episode where Arlina plans to delve into the topic of resolving resentment in relationships, a subject that many individuals dealing with addiction and recovery can relate to.
48. Breaking Free: How Living with Integrity Can Transform Your Life & Your Recovery
Welcome to another episode of the Unhooked podcast, the place to learn how to break free from compulsive behaviors and bad habits, so that you can create the life you want.
Porn addiction often leads to a dual life, one where we're constantly hiding, concealing, and living with the ever-present fear of being found out. But there's more to it than just the fear of exposure. It's the belief that we're inherently flawed, undeserving of happiness and love, which can lead us to self-sabotage.
We'll dive into the various ways this distress manifests, from the fear of getting caught to the heavy burden of guilt and shame for the harm we've caused ourselves and others. But fear not, for in contrast to this torment lies the bliss of blamelessness.
In Buddhist practice, ethics lay the foundation for a mindful life. The Buddha himself taught the importance of ethical living before delving into meditation, recognizing that ethics are the gateway to a happier, more peaceful existence. By living in accordance with our values and embracing ethical principles, we pave the way for the bliss of blamelessness.
The five precepts of Buddhism, including refraining from harm, theft, dishonesty, sexual misconduct, and intoxicants that lead to heedlessness, offer a solid framework for ethical living. It's not about sins or judgment but rather about training ourselves to experience greater happiness and clarity.
Join me as we explore the path to living with the bliss of blamelessness, a journey that involves understanding and aligning with our ethical principles. As you'll discover, this path leads to a life free from fear, anxiety, and the burden of secrecy.
So, if you're ready to embark on this journey toward integrity and recovery, hit that subscribe button so you never miss an episode. He combines over 30,000 hours as a communication skills coach with extensive knowledge of mindset and embodiment work, to design & facilitate corporate wellness programs and retreats internationally.
His mission in men's work is to redefine healthy masculinity; to help men bring more depth and value to their world, to support each other more, lead with emotional intelligence and communicate in healthier ways. Rich successfully overcame an autoimmune disease, is a recovering 'nice guy', and was one of the first instructors trained by Wim Hof.
I LOVED this conversation with Rich, as we dive into subjects that don’t get a lot of airtime.
We dive into a wide array of compelling subjects, including the nuances of modern masculinity and the challenges men face when seeking support in today's world. The conversation also explores the "nice guy" syndrome and delves into the qualities that men can nurture within themselves to foster a more balanced and healthier masculine presence.
The episode offers listeners insights into
* the positive impact and tangible benefits of men's circles. * toxic masculinity and balancing the masculine and feminine * the impact of pornography of mental health and intimacy * personal growth journeys and cultivating self worth

Taking Extreme Ownership of Your Addiction and Your Life
27. Taking Ownership of Your Addiction and Your Life
Welcome to another episode of the Unhooked podcast, the place to learn how to break free from compulsive behaviors and bad habits, so that you can create the life you want.
In this episode, I explore the significance of taking ownership of our lives. We learn that it's vital to take responsibility for our actions and choices, rather than expecting others to change things for us or playing the victim. I highlight that we cannot rely on anyone else to rescue us if we're not willing to help ourselves. The episode offers several practical tips for taking ownership, including grasping the concept of karma and the law of cause and effect, being diligent in getting rid of bad habits, distinguishing between fault and responsibility, and contemplating the type of person we aspire to be. To truly embrace ownership and responsibility, we must take action and become the hero of our own life story.
I hope this episode helps you make massive progress on your goals and dreams in 2023 and beyond. If you found this episode helpful, please let me know by leaving a review! I would love to hear from you.

26. Why Some People Naturally Drift Away, And Others Don't: Inhibitors and Accelerators of Porn Addiction
Welcome to another episode of the Unhooked podcast, the place to learn how to break free from compulsive behaviors and bad habits, so that you can create the life you want.
In this episode, I will be exploring why some people are able to easily drift away from porn addiction while others struggle with it. We will be discussing the eight factors that contribute to a person's attachment or detachment to porn. These factors include four accelerating factors that increase a person's interest in porn, such as associating porn with pleasure, easy access, using porn to medicate distress, and having difficulty being intimate in relationships. On the other hand, there are four inhibiting factors that cool or diminish a person's passion for porn, such as personally disliking porn, limited contact with porn, feeling sexually secure and satisfied, and wanting emotional intimacy. By understanding which of these factors are present in our lives, we can more naturally drift away from porn addiction.
