935: Josh Goodman | Leading the Self-Pour Revolution with 12,000 Taps Worldwide26 Aug 202401:09:46

Josh grew up in Chester, Virginia, about 20 minutes south of Richmond off I-95. Sports and competition made a big impact in his early years. After being All-State in two sports, he accepted a football scholarship to play Linebacker at Shippensburg University. He still holds the career solo tackles record from starting all 4 years. Josh’s first job in hospitality was as a server and barback at Bottoms Up Pizza in Richmond, Va. Prior to PourMyBeer, he worked in Business Development with Modis, a publically traded IT Staffing Firm. He was hired to develop the Baltimore Metro market for the company. Landing several blue-chip accounts took that market from non-existent to a top producer in a matter of 24 months. One day in 2009, he decided he wanted to take a 95% pay cut, quit his job where he played golf 3 days a week, and invest his entire life savings in building a self-pour company. Yadda, yadda, yadda, here we are today after 3 significant chapters in business and life. To get the full story go to TapTheBigIdea.com

His wife, Janette (Pieczynski) Goodman, is in the Shippensburg University Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, holds the school record for career steals (not including Josh’s heart), and is a Marketing Director for Astellas Pharmaceuticals. They have 2 children, Tyler and Brianna, and live in Harleysville, Pa (30 minutes north of Philadelphia) with their Goldendoodle, Belle, and their bearded dragon Coco. Outside of PourMyBeer, Josh enjoys biking, snowboarding, basketball, pickleball, cornhole, grilling, hazy IPAs, and singing 90’s hip hop in his car by himself.

926: Nicole Wingard and Mike Chambers | The Best Marketing Strategy Ever24 Jun 202401:56:29

What's up, #SmashArmy?!

Join me for a two-hour deep-dive into one of the most viral marketing campaigns of the year and one of the most successful rebrands I've ever seen.

Today, I'm making friends with Nicole Wingard and Mike Chambers.

Nicole is best known as "Nicole the intern" who went viral for creating 60 days of video content for the brand Mixoloshe to "prove to her boss that smashing a can is more effective than his entire marketing strategy."

Safe to say she was successful.

Mixoloshe grew from 0 to 500K followers in less than 60 days, and sales exploded, culminating in a full rebrand of the non-alcoholic beverage company, now (appropriately) called SMASHD. She also got promoted to "Chief Smash Officer."

Mike is the CMO turned CEO of SMASHD who worked with Nicole to craft this incredible campaign.

924: Jared Bailey | 'Dropouts' Origin Story, What Broke Zach, & the Aftermath of Indiana's Exit10 Jun 202401:01:52

Today, I'm thrilled to be joined by Jared Bailey ( @jarebearmusic ), the producer, and co-host of the Dropouts ( @DropoutsPodcast ) podcast.

If you're a Dropouts fan, you'll love this episode.

(And, if you haven't already I highly recommend checking out the Zach Justice episode as well, since Zach is another co-host of Dropouts: https://youtu.be/_gXbyIonpvw)

The Dropouts brand has exploded since I started following them about a year and a half ago.

They started the podcast in a spare room of a modest apartment in LA, and it has grown immensely. Now, they have over a million subscribers on YouTube, with each video racking up millions of views. Their fan base is incredibly passionate.

If you're tuning in from the Dropouts podcast, welcome to the "Travis Makes Friends" podcast. You've probably already seen the Zach Justice interview. With Jared on today's episode, I need to get Tarayummy ( @Tarayummy ) on the show to complete the trio.

I'm genuinely excited about Dropouts' success. They're a fantastic example of how content creators can thrive even if they start "late." They began in 2020, but their consistent, high-quality content and strong rapport have propelled them to great heights. As a fellow content creator, seeing good people achieve such success is inspiring.

In this episode, Jared and I discuss his life, his journey, and how he reached his current position. We delve into the various milestones along the way, which I find particularly fascinating because the path to success is never linear. There are always ups and downs, and Jared's story is no exception.

NIKOLE MITCHELL | From Pastor to OnlyFans Millionaire13 Feb 202300:47:55

Nikole Mitchell is a kickass life coach who helps people create the life of their dreams and thrive in all areas of life. She helps dreamers, leaders, and celebrities by expanding their beliefs, clearing any blocks, and getting them into the flow where they can find everything they are looking for. Mitchell has a big calling on her life and wants to help others access their own dream lives.

Previously, Mitchell was the poster child for people-pleasing, perfection, and a scarcity mindset, but she shed those layers that no longer served her. She came out publicly as queer, left the Christian faith, and owned the fullness of who she was, even if it meant disappointing important people in her life. This newfound freedom allowed her to go from relying on food stamps to making multiple six figures doing what she loves, which is life coaching and modeling.

Through her work as a speaker, writer, and life coach, Mitchell aims to change individual lives and bring people together from all walks of life, equipping them with the tools to go back to their communities and make the world a more beautiful place. She believes that struggling and suffering are not required and that ease and flow are a birthright, and she is passionate about helping others access this abundance and opportunities.

PAUL PIERCE | No Fear of Failure16 Jan 202300:28:36

Ask Paul Pierce, and he will tell you: When you have suffered, when you have failed, when you have known what it is to be humbled — when you endure all of that and emerge on top, triumph is all the sweeter. The journey of the 6’7″ Hall of Fame forward, from the playgrounds of L.A. to superstardom and back again, is astounding both for its success and how it was achieved.

From his childhood through college and the NBA, Paul toiled on the court, working tirelessly on his game, never with fanfare, always with confidence. Throughout a 19-year NBA career, No. 34 was a consummate player, stalwart defender and offensive dynamo. At his peak, he famously faced up and defeated LeBron James and Kobe Bryant in the same championship playoff run.

An all-star, NBA champion and Finals MVP, he has lived up to the meaning of his nickname — the Truth — by staying true to himself.
