Crossover are a small blendery focused on producing 100% spontaneously fermented beers aged in traditional vessels such as oak barrels.

The aim is to source ingredients as close to the Blendery as possible. The work is seasonal, brewing in the cold months and fruiting in the warm. Each beer they make is of that year, It is of that season and it cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world.

The way they make beer and its eventual flavour characteristics blur the lines between beer and other fermented beverages. As a result they want to emphasise the ‘crossing over’ of beer into these other drinks which are often considered a distant and superior or inferior cousin.

These beers are a labour of love and incredibly time-consuming to produce.

When I first interviewed Andy from Three Hills for the Podcast in October 2020, he had just got the keys to their new Bermondsey Beer-Mile Brewery and Taproom. Little Earth Project are based in a idyllic, peaceful and remote corner of South Suffolk, and they have a campsite and a pub, and a brewery.

When I first recorded with Tom last year, I express surprise that anybody ever actual left, once they had found their way there! I knew that I needed to go and check-it out in person, and I roped in my TWICB-Partner Steve, to act as wingman.

There is a bit of wind-interference on this recording, but on the whole, I think it turned out quite well.

I thoroughly recommend that everyone within striking distance of Suffolk makes the effort to spend the weekend camping at Little Earth Preoject at some point this summer. The abbey was the first permanent monastery to be founded in England since the Reformation and is the sole Trappist house in England.
