Ep.197 - James Bond 007 (Nintendo Game Boy)
Episode 218
jeudi 3 octobre 2024 • Duration 24:39
The game's Bond... James Bond! Chris and Ashley get their licence to podcast this week in James Bond 007 on the Game Boy, an action RPG that tries to distil the thrills, spills and kills of N64 titan GoldenEye onto a small pixelated black and white screen. Find out how successful developer Saffire were in achieving this by listening!

Ep.196 - Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (Sony PlayStation 2)
Episode 217
jeudi 19 septembre 2024 • Duration 51:48
It's time for us to tinker with time as we play Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, a 2003 action-adventure-platformer hybrid. It's a game both Chris and Ashley have very good memories of playing and have high hopes that it stands the test of time. Along the way, you'll find out how this game links to the Assassin's Creed series and Beyond Good and Evil, hear Ashley's awful eBay story and learn about Aristotelian unities. What a ride!
Note: this was recorded way back in time (August 2023) when this year's brilliant POP game, The Lost Crown, hadn't even been announced, hence no mention of it. Nor had the currently-upcoming Rogue Prince of Persia. There's probably a clever analogy about time here but we'll let you fill in the blanks with that.

Episode 117
jeudi 5 mai 2022 • Duration 56:11
This week, Chris and Ashley are transported to a far away land where Monsters rule! That's right, Chris and Ashley have mostly been trading in their tablets for a host of strange creatures in Monster Rancher Advance 2, a game that sees players coralling and cajoling their ranch buddies into becoming the best of the best.

Episode 116
jeudi 28 avril 2022 • Duration 54:35
To celebrate this week's release of The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe (4/27, the same number as is on Stanley's cubicle in the game, fact fans), we are revisiting the original version from 2013. The game is unlike anything else we've played - listen in to find out what makes it so remarkable!

Ep.105 - The Sims (PC)
Episode 115
jeudi 21 avril 2022 • Duration 01:13:59
After Chris' Rosebud drop last week, Ashley had a hankering for some of the original The Sims - so here it is! We delve deep into the myriad expansion packs available, discuss how the game strives to reflect some distorted version of real life and reflect on why the game's overreliance on Comic Sans may induce some font snobbery.

Ep.104 - Max Payne (PC)
Episode 114
jeudi 14 avril 2022 • Duration 57:39
We take it back to 2001 this week to celebrate the news that Rockstar and Remedy are remastering Max Payne, this game where you solve a bad murder by shooting up loads of baddies. It's most famous for its use of bullet time and cracking script, but does it still play well? Listen in to find out!

Ep.103 - Immortals: Fenyx Rising (PC)
Episode 113
jeudi 7 avril 2022 • Duration 44:38
One appropriately from the This Game Where vaults this week with Immortals: Fenyx Rising, a game that sees you take on the might of Greek myth to help out the pantheon of Olympos against a less than savoury big bad who has crawled out of the bowels of the earth. It's a real treat for anyone who likes to explore, but especially if any of the classic mythologies has ever captured your imagination. Find out exactly what this game has going for it by listening in!

Ep.102 - Driver (Sony PlayStation)
Episode 112
jeudi 31 mars 2022 • Duration 47:22
Have you ever wanted to be the guy that gets everyone 'away' in a 'getaway'? It's definitely the main part, so you almost certainly have! This week, Chris tries to explain to Ashley why 'getting away' in Driver was a formative aspect of his childhood, and it involves another heartrending tale of lost friendship, so bring your tissues.

Ep.101 - Xenon 2: Megablast (Sega Master System)
Episode 111
jeudi 24 mars 2022 • Duration 35:23
Have you ever wanted to blast your way through a flurry of protozoic lifeforms with little to no narrative reason for doing so? That's exactly what Chris and Ashley have been doing this week with the help of the Bitmap Brothers and their game, Xenon 2 for the Sega Master System. A fast-paced, chaotic take on the shoot'em up, the game apparently has the player leaping across epochs to thwart the destructive plans of the Xenites who, at least in the Master System version of the game, aren't really mentioned outside of the manual. But none of this is to say that the game can't be good, but is it? Listen in and find out!
