How to raise a women's health Seed round in 2026?
Season 2 · Episode 5
lundi 2 mars 2026 • Duration 51:25
Estia Ryan is a VC and head of research at Eka Ventures.
The intersection of this role as well as Eka’s investment into Cyclana Bio, Ditto Daily and Hesta Health make her incredibly well placed to cover the common challenges women’s health founders faced when moving from ideation to raising pre-seed
Last year Estia partnered with Yougov to survey over 1000 women, which they used to create an incredible women’s health landscape report which I highly recommend you check out here - The Future Of Women's Health
Estia has kindly spoken on 2 of our panels and I always love her perspectives so I’m really excited to bring you this conversation today without needing to join us for a panel.
As always please feel free to let me know your questions and feedback
We discuss:
How Estia see's the current women's health, tech and fundraising landscape, what's changed in the 4 months since her report was published?
Why do women's health founders struggle to raise venture capital?
Consumer wellness vs regulated medical device - speed of implementation and GTM vs regulation in the age of fundraising being tough
When a problem is truly meaningful to solve but doesn’t have a huge TAM - What should founders do? Have a narrative on future expansion and / or alternative funding sources?
What role does community play in women's health and / or supporting female founders? How do we get more money into ‘grass roots’ community, advocacy, support networks, and events? Also see this report from Estia on community and consumer
Who Owns Women’s Health Data? As women’s health becomes a high-value data frontier, who should own, govern and benefit from that data, and what must remain a public good rather than a private moat?

There’s no research on menstrual blood and that’s a problem: Closing the gender health gap with Karli Büchling
Episode 28
lundi 26 février 2024 • Duration 53:54
Nexus online nutrition coaching link. https://form.typeform.com/to/umRWcJj4
Karli is pioneering europe's first menstrual blood blank. There is virtually no research done on menstrual blood and that’s a problem! It could unlock so many secrets about women's health, potentially lead to earlier diagnosis of endometriosis and certain cancers as well as potentially removing the need for a smear test. This is a fascinating area of research and I'm personally so excited to watch Karli’s work and research unfold over the next few years and beyond.

The Gender Health Gap's Cost to the Economy with Bridget Gorham
Episode 26
lundi 19 février 2024 • Duration 48:21
Nexus online nutrition coaching link. https://form.typeform.com/to/umRWcJj4
Bridget is a Health Economics Policy Advisor, she analyzes the inherent relationship between health and wealth; how healthy populations foster both economic growth and sustainable economies.
Specifically at the moment she is working on creating a numerical ROI for the investment on female health. “ We know for every £1 spent on preventive health care it saves the economy £14 but we don’t know what the ROI is for women’s specific health care”
Personally I’m so excited about Bridget's work because whilst we shouldn’t be reducing women’s health to a smart financial decision, getting this number from her work will definitely be instrumental in women’s health care, workplace support and research improving and that’s what we need!
I hope you loved this episode as much as I did and as always we’d love to hear your feedback, comments and questions!

The Truth About the Hormonal Birth Control Pill with Danni & Philly
Episode 22
mercredi 13 décembre 2023 • Duration 43:31
Danni Bosworth
“I am and always have been passionate about helping people achieve their true potential. I help my clients improve their overall health, body composition, physical and mental performance, and quality of life and I absolutely adore what I do!
My coaching methods are built around the unique abilities and goals of each one of my clients, as I believe the coaching process and programming within that should be enjoyable and specific to the individual. I love what I do and I wouldn't change it for the world.
I also love learning and will never stop working to improve my knowledge. I have my own podcast - 'The Female Fitness Podcast' on Spotify, Soundcloud, and Apple Podcasts, and have set up a free Facebook community called 'The Flourishing Society' to help people tackle and prevent common issues that can rear their heads as they navigate their fitness journeys such as relationship with food struggles, poor body image, and feeling 'lost' after transitioning away from fat loss phases or competing in sport."

Philly Fleming
“I started getting into the gym in my late teens and fell in love with it very quickly. I had no idea what I was doing, but I was determined to learn, and headed off to Loughborough University to study a Sports Science BSc, followed by a Nutrition MSc.
During those 4 years, I began competing in PCA Bikini Bodybuilding - something which ticked a box for me, but also taught me more about what I value as a person, and now a coach (sustainability, enjoyment, balance and results that don’t require you to be below 10% body fat).
I began coaching 5 years ago, with the aim to teach women how to do fitness in the right way. No BS myths, no excessive dieting, no overtraining and certainly no detoxes - simply, science, done right."
