The One Where We Talk About Church-Sanctioned Domestic Abuse (Re-release)

mardi 16 avril 2024Duration 48:49

What do you when your church says abuse and mistreatment is okay? And that it’s not only ok, but it’s God’s design. And what if you’ve identified abuse in your relationship but now notice you’ve had the same experience in your church and maybe even what you’ve been taught about God?

Is any faith community safe for women?

Today’s episode explores church-sanctioned domestic abuse and intimate partner violence. We deconstruct that old saying, “Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater and find the shades of gray. Popping into Pop Culture covers Naked Attraction and the news about Puff Daddy Combs, and we have lots to say about how to keep your own “fruit” fresh.

The One Where We Talk About Relationships During Perimenopause

mardi 13 février 2024Duration 01:13:11

We are finally seeing more information and education on perimenopause but don’t really hear a lot of conversations about the practical implications on relationships. That’s about to change as the Wise Jezebels dive into how perimenopause impacted their relationships, romance, and connections in the past and present.

We also discussing all the pop culture headlines like the Grammys, Taylor Swift, Prince Charles and more! And then it’s time to talk about sex…specifically the differences and relationship between embodied affection and orgasms.

It’s an episode you won’t want to miss!

The One Where Talk About Purity Culture

mardi 6 février 2024Duration 01:19:52

The Wise Jezebels are talking all things purity culture! From the hilarious things they did–like Laura’s husband journal–to the long term impacts of purity culture. They both acknowledge how much more difficult it’s been to resolve the way purity culture lives in their body than physical acts of sexualized violence and some of what they have engaged in for healing. This episode is light and deep, vulnerable, and hilarious–there’s something for everyone!

We also talk about Taylor Swift and the media outlets who are politicizing her relationship and appearances at his games, do an accountabilibuddy check in, and end with a ‘Menopause Minute’!

The One Where Talk About Embodied Fundamentalism

mardi 23 janvier 2024Duration 47:05

The Wise Jezebels are ready to take on a topic they have a lot of thoughts about! Ever wonder why it is that some people develop large platforms overnight–followed by offering coaches, services, and most of all, a path to healing…and why are people so enamored with them? On this episode we discuss the concept of embodied fundamentalism–that is, how fundamentalism lives in our bodies even after religion–and how it shows up in our present day lives and relationships.

We also talk about Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the Iowa Caucus and answer a listener question in preparation for our next Q&A episode. Make sure to get your questions in for our January episode of Non-Consensual, Consensual Advice. Drop them in our DM’s, on the question boxes on our IG stories or on the contact form on our website!

The One Where We Know Ourselves

mardi 9 janvier 2024Duration 59:43

“To thine own self be true” is from Hamlet. But in our Christian backgrounds, we were taught it was romantic and ideal for a male partner to know us better than we know ourselves. Ditto pastors and any external authority. In today’s episode, we deconstruct the dark side of that dependence and its complementarian roots. Also up, the Golden Bachelor Royal Wedding and a super-disturbing cult leader video with AntiChrist and End Times vibes all over it. We wrap it up with our very own 23/24 In and Out list!

The One Where We Become Accountabilibuddies

mardi 2 janvier 2024Duration 01:08:26

Also on tap is a Golden Bachelor royal wedding update and a relationship segment on arrested development you won’t want to miss.
