This week, we asked for the funniest or wildest injuries your kids have caused you, plus we are back with our parenting confessional and parent news stories.

Kicking off with a not-so-fun fact for Bec - did you know parents of 3 kids are reported to have the highest levels of stress?

Sam and Bec catch up with their weekly yay and nays - Bec yaying their two-night getaway kid-free (sleeping til 9am, anyone?!), and naying being woken up before 6, being reminded of Steve Irwin's passing by an overly curious 4-year-old. Sam's yaying time on their holiday to develop a new hobby (thank you Fox In The Box Gold Coast escape rooms!) and naying how fast it went.

Then we jump into the answers from this week's question about what is the worst injury you've gotten from your kid. We've got some doozy injuries that will make you think 'ouch', while helping you feel at home if you've ever been headbutted, whacked or injured by your child.

The confessional is open this week with another hilarious funeral mixup, a 3-year-old Jesus (no, it's not blasphemous), and a grocery store ninja.

Parent news this week, and we share about one mother who had the unfortunate experience of going into labour while dressed as the Grinch for Halloween! We also share a story from India about a doctor who is making headway in combating the baby gender bias, celebrating baby girls, and pushing for change. That's a feel-good, slightly shocking story for us to finish with - and we will be back next week with more stories, confessions, news and laughs!

This episode is packed with parent hacks, confessions and news!

Kicking off with a random Sam thought about how our kids are going to look at us weirdly at the word 'rewind' - we quickly catch up with our parent yays and nays from this week. Bec is yaying cute mixed up words like bumblegum and double-yaying with the successful use of reverse psychology on the 4 year old. Sam is yaying the kids finally eating their dinner (after a year of complaining on this podcast that they waste food), and naying the unexpected emotions of watching your child walk off to school for the first time (he won't admit it, but he cried in the car!).

The confessional is in full swing this week, but with a few stories that we think are more like parent hacks! Like counting to 500 for hide and seek, or telling the kids they can play on iPads until you wake up (cue the sleep in!). These are followed by some embarrassing parent stories and kids saying the darndest things.

This week has 2 parent news stories, starting with the debate over child-free resorts and hotels, fuelled by France's recent political debates about their culture of child-free stays. Followed by Skibid being added to the Cambridge dictionary along with a whole bunch of slang we STILL don't understand, even with dictionary definitions.

Postpartum RAGE and breastmilk icecream?

Episode 75

This week, we have a long list of wild newborn-life stories and one of the funniest parent news stories to date. From sleep deprivation to wild postpartum rage - there are a lot of stories here to relate to and more to laugh with.

To kick off, we apologize for another Bluey World episode delay (it'll come one day, won't it, Sam?) before catching up with our yay and nays. Bec is yaying getting more sleep cos the 4yo has chosen daddy as his pillow, and naying the kids' funny playground coverup. Sam is naying his new hand splint and the youngest child's reaction to it, and yaying a funny kid conversation about the police.

Then we come to the answers to: What's your wildest story from the postpartum/newborn phase? The unhinged, sleep-deprived, and hilarious.

There are weird dreams, sleep deprivation, rocking the groceries, LOTS of crying, a fair bit of rage and throwing things, and forgetting the baby's name. Plus a very anonymous divorce lawyer and a Brittney Spears meltdown story. Get ready to laugh, cry and feel seen by these stories!

Outrage & Unhinged Toddler Snake Attacks

Strap in for another episode of the Unhelpful Parenting Podcast.

This week, we change things up, starting with Bluey news, as we welcome our first-ever podcast guests: the gnomes. But add to that the absolute outrage that the ABC didn't even attempt to get merchandising rights to Bluey and more or less started the show and gave away the profits to an overseas company (bless you BBC).

The Bluey news outrage continues, with the ABC choosing to temporarily remove the Hammerbarn episode of Bluey because, as a publicly owned broadcaster, they can't support a commercial campaign.

Once we get the Bluey Heeler shock news out of the way, we jump into a quick catch-up with yays and nays. Bec is yaying Amazon Prime subscriptions for cheap and convenient parenting supplies and nappies - but naying the hour-plus round trip that is the school run (even though school is 15 minutes away). Sam is yaying getting our hands on the Bluey gnomes, but naying the whole 10 minutes it took for one to break.

This week we have some more school fails and tales being sent in off the back of the last one a few weeks ago - and a few 'friend' stories that we aren't buying. With interesting show and tell and the stories kids tell their teachers, at least your kid isn't proclaiming to everyone that you 'pooped out a baby'.

We have two confessions in the confessional this week, with kids mistaking people for ugly mannequins, and a Priscilla Queen of the Desert mix up.

In non-Bluey parent news, we have two headlines we are sharing, with THC-laced pizza being eaten by a baby and a toddler that bites a cobra to death in India.

Kids Say The Funniest Things & Bluey Hammerbarn News

Kids really say the funniest things! This episode revolves mostly around the answers we were sent to the question: What's the most embarrassing thing your kid has said in public?

But to start, we first apologise for our delayed Bluey episode - we promise it's on the way! And to make up for it, there's new Bluey news at the end of the episode.

With our quick catch-up yays and nays - Bec is naying still doing sleepless nights, and yaying parent wins, creating core memories. Sam is yaying some sweet baby cuddle time, but naying getting old (anyone else see the grey hairs?).

The embarrassing stories kick off with mispronounced words, blatant unfiltered truth bombs, half-truths and hilarious timing.

We wrap up with the Bluey news - and we've got gnomes on the shelf at Bunnings! (Bunnings = Australia's hardware store that Hammerbarn is modelled off) Of course, they are likely already sold out as we record this, and they are already appearing online for four times the price!

Insane Teacher Interviews and Parent News

Starting with a bad joke, Bec's worried she's now given Sam the opportunity to start telling dad jokes again.

Catching up with yays & nays, Bec's yaying her funny middle child comment and naying the sickness sharing. Sam's yaying Bluey world and naying the kids' short attention span after a painful train ride on the weekend that started well and went downhill from there.

This week we have a lot of stories sent in by teachers of funny parent-teacher interviews and some interesting gifts they've received.

The confessional is open with 3 parent stories, including a funny, embarrassing moment in a public bathroom, a misunderstanding at home and a breastfeeding mom feeling the love from her older child.

Pregnant Tears & Parenting Backfires

Starting with yays and nays - Bec is yaying the cute support card from her daughter before a big work meeting, and naying how overshadowed her amazing birthday cake for the 4yo was by the real life dinosaur that was Sam in a t-rex suit that showed up (not that she'd change it!). Sam is yaying the kids cute gratitude and belief in dad-strength, while naying his ability to open a banana wrong (according to the 1yo).

We share stories sent in from pregnant mums about what they've cried over, from their husband picking the wrong imaginary fish, to the shops being out of food and a TV never finding love - pregnancy is a wild ride!

Then we have the answers to the question we asked on Facebook this week - what's the parenting thing that backfired on you? White lies or great ideas that just didn't work out as planned. From some little and not so little lies to unknown allergies, to kids calling bluffs - these stories are just a few ways parenting can backfire on you!

We wrap this episode with two parent news stories. One a single mother booted off a zoom courtroom for making PB&J, the other another Bluey update.

This week's episode is packed full of confessions and funny stories sent in by parents!

So we get straight to it, kicking off with a quick parent catch-up. Sam is yaying parent friends and being social with kids, while naying a toilet training fail. Bec is yaying almost being a tooth fairy and naying the never-ending piles of kids' clothes.

The confessional this week is again full of parent confessions that really could be parent hacks, including telling the kids the toys at Kmart are a museum, video game power outages and changing the language settings on Netflix for bedtime!

School fails and tales had heaps of funny stories sent it (thank you parents!). We had funny teacher stories, a shocking parent-teacher interview, mooning incidents, teacher underwear and riding horses to school!

We wrap up with parent news stories - the weird event edition.

First, we covered the annual T-Rex World Championship Race. Then the lost and found Disneyland market events, where people can buy lost items, and there's more than you'd think! And our third story is the Spanish El Colacho festival, which one town celebrates with baby jumping!

This week's parent news includes a Bluey update - including Bluey scented farts and graduating classes with world record levels of twins!

Childhood Ruined & Deadly Gender Reveals

Sam then takes us on his deep dive of facts he's found about the shows and movies of our childhood. Like did you know Big Bird almost died on the challenger space mission? Or that the Cowardly Lion costume from The Wizard of Oz was made of real lion hair?

Then we start with the gender reveal - and the resounding response from our socials was people do NOT appreciate them. And after discovering the amount of damage they've done, we get it.

First, we cover some cringy ones. Funny gender reveals that make you say 'oh no'.

Then we hit the major fails where people have died, started fires and caused explosions. Yes, it really happens.

We finish with some rules for gender reveals - cos cake really is the only safe option it seems!
