Challenging Societal Norms around Careers as a Mom20 Jan 202400:54:54

In today’s episode, Elizabeth, Brooke, Kenisha, and Charmaine are diving into societal norms when it comes to careers or being a stay-at-home parent. They’re getting unfiltered about all the judging people do to one another about careers, the pressures of society to be seen as stable and making a ton of money in order to be successful, and how this is definitely not the case for everyone. How can we shift the way society views success so that we do not have to feel guilty for following a different path, and also, how do we stop the shaming and judging surrounding our own choices? How can we rewire our minds to think positively about these changes instead of focusing on the negative? And most importantly: when we follow what really, truly fills our heart and soul, we won’t have to worry about what anyone else thinks of our choices.

Today on The Unfiltered Mom:

  • Stopping the judgment of the choices of fellow women and moms when it comes to their career
  • Creating your own version of success to avoid burnout
  • Why we need to untie success and the amount of money we’re making

Pregnancy & Infant Loss: 2 Women’s Stories of Love and Loss28 Oct 202101:06:52

Trigger Warning: Pregnancy and Infant Loss

As we hold moms who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss in our hearts, there is another group of women who struggle in silence without support. Many women have had to make the impossible decision to terminate a pregnancy for medical reasons.

Unfortunately, these women aren’t shown the same support after their loss because their decision is oftentimes seen as controversial or wrong. In this episode, we sit down with women who have experienced pregnancy loss as they share their stories about what it was like to make these decisions and how it has shaped them into who they are today.

In this episode, we talk about the reasons why we choose to have more babies and how as moms we can own our journeys instead of letting other people rain on our parades.

Now that we have kids of our own and share our knowledge of the past, there are so many things we might have done differently.

In this episode, we talk about how our current views on life can help us raise strong, independent, and wonderful human beings in relationship to the things we have learned from our past selves. Taking Back Your Time: Doing More with Less18 Aug 202100:37:25

Moms today have a million things they are “supposed” to do. We take care of the kids from morning to night, clean every surface multiple times a day, and cook healthy meals for our families. But beyond that, society now expects us to be better for ourselves: self care, meditation, exercise, journaling.

There simply aren’t enough hours in a day to do everything. In this episode, our panel of moms discusses how we can do less in order to do more, and ways to avoid feeling the societal pressure to constantly be on the go.

Patience is running thin these days and cancel culture is running rampant. People are quick to judge others and rarely wait for an opportunity for redemption or apology before sending them to be cancelled. In this episode we talk about how cancel culture has evolved into what it is today, why we find parts of it to be problematic, and how we can do better together.
