Ambassadors for Mustangs and Catalysts for Healing with Patti Gruber | Episode 13
Season 1 · Episode 13
jeudi 25 avril 2024 • Duration 01:04:43
In this episode, I have the honor of speaking with Patti Gruber, the founder of Operation Wild Horse, and the proud owner of Padre, a Mustang dressage champion and Breyer horse model. When I first reached out to Operation Wild Horse, I had no idea I would be connecting with someone whose work has touched so many lives—especially through the incredible bond she shares with Mustangs and the transformative healing power these horses bring to others.
Patti’s journey with Mustangs began in 2006 when she brought home her first Mustang. A year later, she adopted Padre, who went on to become a true trailblazer for the Mustang breed, proving that wild horses are capable of extraordinary feats, including excelling in dressage competitions. Padre’s accomplishments have since been immortalized as a Breyer model, and he’s been featured in two books and multiple magazines.
However, what makes Patti’s story truly special is her deep commitment to using Mustangs to heal and empower others. In 2017, she founded Operation Wild Horse, a nonprofit dedicated to pairing Mustangs with veterans to provide therapeutic healing and a sense of purpose. The program not only honors her grandfathers, both of whom served in the military, but also highlights the profound impact horses can have on human well-being.
Patti has spent nearly two decades working with Mustangs, and in this episode, she shares how they’ve transformed her life, her horsemanship, and her mission. Whether through competition, therapy, or simply the joy of sharing Mustangs with the world, Patti’s story exemplifies the healing power of these majestic animals.
If you love Mustangs, veteran support, or the inspiring stories of how animals can heal, this episode is one you don’t want to miss. Patti’s dedication to Mustangs and the legacy of Padre will leave you believing in the incredible bond between horses and humans.

A Conversation Changed My Beliefs About Wild Horses with Mustang Advocate Ann Souders | Episode 10
Season 1 · Episode 10
jeudi 4 avril 2024 • Duration 01:00:04
What if what you believed about wild horses was based on incomplete information?
Ann Saunders, founder of Forever Branded, spent years as a wild horse activist fighting against BLM roundups—until one conversation with renowned horseman Ken McNabb completely changed her perspective. Ann has been involved with Mustangs since 2007, has adopted multiple wild horses, and now dedicates her life to education, community building, and helping people understand the complex reality of America's wild horses. Her journey from "the dark side" (as she calls it) to becoming a passionate advocate for responsible wild horse management is a powerful reminder that education, not emotion, creates lasting change.
In this episode, you'll discover:• Why Ann calls wild horse overpopulation a crisis most people don't understand• What it's really like in long-term holding facilities (hint: it's not what activists claim)• How clicker training and "rewarding the try" changed her relationship with her Mustang—and her kids• Why the Mustang community is one of the most supportive families you'll ever find
If you're ready to move from emotional reactivity to awareness and regulation, the next step is building practices that support lasting transformation.
