| On how to feel less fearful of death | 30 Aug 2024 | 00:14:05 | |
In this, the last of a special ten part series of The Therapy Edit, Anna talks through the second of The Uncomfortable Truths; I am going to die. The Uncomfortable Truth: Change Your Life By Taming 10 of Your Mind's Greatest Fears is Anna's 5th book was published on the 8th August. Order your copy here Here's a teaser from Anna about what to expect in this long-awaited, transformative book. ‘Some people don’t like me” “Bad things will happen to people I love” “I’m going to fail” … these words underpinned my anxieties and nightmares. I bet they feature in yours too. Our fears are anchored in the unavoidable truths of life; all things reach an end, bad things happen, and we lack the control we crave. As an experienced psychotherapist, who’s had years of therapy, I realised that ploughing endless energy into trying to control the uncontrollable is keeping us all tired, wired, and worried. Ignoring fears doesn’t make them less true, it makes them more powerful. I decided to try a different tact and it changed my world. Instead of doing everything I could to ease and avoid life’s uncomfortable truths, I sought a deeper acceptance of them. Through using this approach, my clients and I discovered that fear began to loosen its grip. We were living more intentionally and peacefully. So, face your fears one a chapter at a time, and discover who you are without worry, doubt and people-pleasing holding you back.

| One Thing with Bronagh Meere on creating a school run capsule wardrobe | 01 Sep 2023 | 00:21:54 | |
In today’s guest episode of The Therapy Edit, Anna welcomes Bronagh Meere from @whiledollysleeps who shares her ideas for creating the perfect capsule wardrobe for school mum life. Bronagh Meere kicked off her fashion career during Heat magazine’s heyday, when she landed a job on what was arguably the most influential style desk of its time. She made the leap to freelancing in 2008 and remains one of the industry's most in-demand stylists to this day. Whether she’s working her magic on celebrity shoots, big-brand advertising campaigns, music videos, TV shows or as a personal stylist to VIPs, her friendly approach, unrivalled work ethic and ceaseless style knowledge have kept her at the forefront of the industry. When her daughter Dolly was born seven years ago, Bronagh created an Instagram account called @whiledollysleeps, in honour of the fact that it was the only chance she had to get any work done! When her son Hugo followed two years later, she had even less time but an ever-increasing passion for posting vibrant, must-have, easy-to-duplicate outfits, as well as top style tips (and the occasional insight into her Edwardian house renovation, which she lovingly refers to as ‘the building site’). As a result, @whiledollysleeps has organically grown into a warm, fun, colourful account where followers can interact with each other about everything from raincoats to cowboy boots and keep up to date with Bronagh’s (occasionally out-there) day-to-day style.

| One Thing With Ruby Warrington on the stubbornly taboo topic of women without kids | 12 May 2023 | 00:23:26 | |
This week, Anna is joined by editor, author, book doula and creator of the term 'sober curious', Ruby Warrington. In this episode of The Therapy Edit, they discuss Ruby's One Thing: how society must turn the tables on their approach towards women without kids. Foregoing motherhood has traditionally marked a woman as "other." With no official place setting for her in our society, she has hovered on the sidelines: the quirky girl, the neurotic career obsessive, the "eccentric" aunt. Instead of continuing to paint women without kids as sad, self-obsessed, or somehow dysfunctional, what if we saw them as boldly forging a new vision for a fully autonomous womankind? Or as journalist and thought leader Ruby asks, what if being a woman without kids were in fact its own kind of legacy? We hope you find Rubys words insightful. You can find Ruby on Instagram here Order Ruby's book 'Women Without Kids' here. In this Friday guest episode of The Therapy Edit, Anna chats to Dad Blogger and father of 3 Giles Alexander about his one thing; that you're doing an incredible job and your child is so lucky to have you. Giles Alexander is one of the UK's leading dad bloggers, who has been writing about fatherhood and the highs and lows of his own parenting journey for nearly a decade. After finding out he was going to be a dad for the first time, Giles quickly discovered that almost everything online about pregnancy and parenthood was targeted at mums and their experience, with hardly anything to help new dads figure out this monumental transition in their lives. To help fix this, Giles created his blog – www.youthedaddy.co.uk – which quickly became a favourite with new mums and dads around the world, drawn in by his humour, honesty and reassuring, practical advice.Best known for his “Man’s Guide to Baby Growth During Pregnancy”, interviews with well-known personalities and parenting experts, and his funny and heart-warming parent poetry, Giles’ posts have helped more than a million parents to navigate the rollercoaster ride of parenthood, while providing support, advice and encouragement to new dads the world over. Excitingly, Giles has recently published his first book - YOU THE DADDY: the hands-on dad's guide to fatherhood - providing dads-to-be with a huge amount of practical advice on how to be supportive partners throughout pregnancy and birth, as well as confident, hands-on dads throughout the early years of fatherhood.A proud working dad with a busy career and home life, Giles lives in the UK with his wife Rosie and their three small children. Dr Emma shares some brilliantly practical advice on how we can parent ourselves so that we're better able to deal with those moments in parenting where we feel vulnerable, overwhelmed, like a failure, so that we can bring calm to the situation and respond in a better way to the challenges of raising children.
