AS A COMMITTEE, WE WORK ALONGSIDE ALLIES AND VOLUNTEERS WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY ON EVENTS AND FUNCTIONS TO PROMOTE AND ENGAGE IN EDUCATIONAL, CULTURAL AND CIVIC ACTIVITIES IN ORDER TO ENRICH THE LIVES OF LGBTQIA+ PEOPLE IN NEWHAM AND BEYOND.

To celebrate Pride month we kick off on June 1st 2024 by talking to Alice (She/Her) and John (He/Him) all about Hexham Pride, which will be taking place in Hexham (Northumberland UK) on Sunday June 16th.

Hexham Pride is a grass roots Pride festival celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community in and around Hexham. There will be live music, a parade, dancing and so much more.

In this weeks episode we meet Colm for the first time and hopefully not the last because he was an utter delight to have on the show.

Colm is a believer that everyone can do the Camino and he due to time restrictions at home, he decides to do one section for 5 - 10 days depending on how much time he can be away and then picks it up at a later date.

It's a beautiful and different way of walking the way.

A family man with a very understanding family, Colm talks abut his take on what the Camino means to him.

In this weeks episode I meet someone completely new. Wendy and I have never met in real life but we have a Camino angel in common. The wonderful Dan Jarvis (see previous episodes and check out his youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@Caminohacks he's great. Dan put me in touch with Wendy and she told me all about her experience on The Camino Portugese, it sounds a bit different to life on the Camino Frances. We compare blister stories, food, famiy (camino family) and friendships. The Camino brings strangers together and we all become friends, it's a beautiful thing.

I met Tessa Gooch at the (Free) wine fountain which featured in the film The Way, I didn't say anything at first because I just loved the energy coming from her, but I didn't know that she would be one of the pilgrims who would keep popping up into my journey time and time again. The Camino provides what you need, I think I must have needed Tessa, she was there at some very pivotal moments on my journey and we shared some amazing times. Listen to our wonderful reminiscing of events that took part on what might be the most important journey of my life so far. Tessa was brought up in the UK but has been living Australia for a few years now. Such a beautiful human and so many great stories.

Patrick Blooming is a singer-songwriter based in Melbourne Australia.

We met on the Camino and we shared some fun times together. He was great musical talent and a jolly nice chap at the same time. We caught up after a couple of months away from the way and we talk about his next musical project which is based on his very own personal journey on the Camino de Santiago.

We turn the tables on Stew and we ask Dan (Stew's first Camino Angel) all about his journey on the Camino De Santiago while taking the route of Camino De Frances.

Over the next season we will be interviewing members of my Camino family, but today I talk about a few of them here.

The ups, the downs, the highs and lows. Dan interviews very well, I might be out of a job, or perhaps found a future collaborator.

This is the first episode of season 3 of the Stew Simpson Show. Season 3 will be entirely dedicated to my trip on the Camino De Santiago.

Dan Jarvis is an actor,a friend and inspiration - we met on the set of a film early 2022 and he reignited a spark in me to walk the Camino De Santiago, a 500 mile pilgrimage across Spain, I will be taking the route known as the Camino De Frances.

He has recently come back from his walk and as I'm going in less than 4 weeks I'm getting nervous. Perhaps he is able to calm my nerves? To find out if he does calm me down you'll have to listen.

I met Wenke at Turtle sweat lodge https://turtlelodgehealing.co.uk/ and I was instantly intrigued by her and what she does.

Wenke is a Health and Life coach who practices, Budwig Diet, Reiki, EFT Matrix Reimprinting and Shamanism.

Her life started in rural East Germany and her spiritual journey led her to here and now. This is my chat with Wenke, she is a beautiful spirit, with amazing strength and tenacity.

This is my first ever field recording of a podcast. In this episode I travelled to Leiscester to Turtle Lodge Healing with my friend Franz Hutcheson. We went with open hearts and minds not knowing what to expect for our first ever sweat lodge experience. A sweat lodge is a low profile hut, typically dome-shaped or oblong, and made with natural materials. The structure is the lodge, and the ceremony performed within the structure may be called by some cultures a purification ceremony or simply a sweat. Traditionally the structure is simple, constructed of saplings covered with blankets and sometimes animal skins.The ceremony was run by Jason Sewell of Turtle Lodge Healing.

I met an incredible group of beautiful people and we all gained something very significant by doing the ceremony. Please listen and enjoy the accounts of the events as the unfolded through the day.
