Ch. 05 Where There's Smoke - Pt 1
Season 1 · Episode 24
Wednesday, March 25, 2026 • Duration 01:12:46
Dear listener,
The group arrive late in the evening to Korentus, a place of snow, clothing and a secret cultist - all against the backdrop of howls that ring through the night. But speaking of secrets, is Helen hiding some else, or is she just complicated?
I guess you're about to find out.
Helen speaks many tongues, hides her true alliegences and yet, claims she wants to speak truth. Of course like everyone who claims to be bad at lying, she expertly blends truth with deception. Government trained, positioned centrally within a coven of witches, travelling with the biggest pile of Yimel's Blood seen in one place... and yet she hasn't ratted the trio out, perhaps she's rethinking things. Lies are severly punished by Yimel, so much so that Violet and myself still carry the scars - perhaps Helena is lying to herself, and I hope that doesn't see her hurt.
Finishing up their exploration at the warehouses, the group returns to the inn. Imparting their words of wisdom through a closed door, the travellers opt to move on as two of them share their experiences similar to that of the young man's plight. As they leave, Sully ensures that future visitors to Nodap are aware of the dangers, but will it be enough I wonder?
I guess you're about to find out.
Thank you to Rhys for voicing Gazgamel - Man Behind The Door!

Dear listener,
Having an obligation to Gumpendorf, and promising to help the young man at the inn, the four travellers take the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone by Reclaiming an old Pharmacy - which includes breaking into the secure section where the controlled substances would be. Breaking into a place untouched by humanity for nearly a centuary will no doubt holding untold treasures by today's standard, but will everything be still in date?
I guess you're about to find out.
Use by dates, best befores dates... strange really, that some things rot and become toxic to your biology, and that other things just lose thier potency all together, becoming next to useless. Of course other things never rot down - they'll be finding blue patterned china, plastic toys and jewellry for millenia. Useful if you're in an apocalypse for sure, but in your timeline... maybe less so?
