| James Calcagni - Beating Lymes Disease After 12 Years with Ancient Chinese Healing and Waterproof Prosthetic Legs | 07 Nov 2022 | 01:51:41 | |
We all like to say we have a “calling” in our lives - but for James Calcagni, it’s the real deal. James is an entrepreneur, CEO, inventor, engineer and most importantly, a survivor. James contracted Lyme’s disease as a young child and suffered horrible complications from it for years that limited his life in many ways. This experience led him to Qigong, which we get to in the show, but it also gave him a unique perspective into a life of difficulty. Now, James uses this perspective and his expertise as an engineer to design prosthetic limbs that address every small problem an amputee may have to face. In this episode we cover James’ backstory, his scrappy journey to starting his own company and how his work lines up with what he considers his duty in life. We also discuss his flagship “shower-proof” prosthetic, where the technology is headed and much more! Episode Outline: (1:30) - Episode beginning, some context on how I met James (3:09) - LinkedIn game, how to optimize your activity and use LinkedIn properly (7:08) - James dives into what he’s working on right now, his background and how he ended up working on such a unique project (24:30) - James’ transition in college and one of his most severe Lyme’s disease experiences (29:10) - How James got a new lease on life, meeting Master Ho (34:11) - Does Western medicine prevent people from accessing other forms of treatment? | Alex Cortes - "My Leg was Amputated at 16." The Full Story on Purpose, Emotion and Ayahuasca | 03 Oct 2022 | 02:21:26
It’s not often that you meet a traveling amputee-podcaster, and to be fair, those labels aren’t “Alex,” they’re simply a way to describe a complex person who has experienced the ups and downs of pain and realization to the highest extent. And yes, at the 20-minute mark Alex breaks down the graphic story of losing his leg at 16. After a mutual friend connected me and Alex, I took an interest in his podcast; I saw a light in him that I saw in myself. He has the podcaster's trait: unwavering curiosity and flexes that muscle by traveling across the country interviewing people on his show, Spirit of a Nation. Please enjoy this extended conversation on living with an amputation, an Ayahuasca journey, art, politics, and the like. If you’re new, thank you for stopping by. Please use the timestamps below to navigate the episode. | Bridget Sicsko - The Yoga Nidra Crash Course, Auditing Your Mental Diet, and Launching a Publishing Company from Scratch | 26 Sep 2022 | 01:36:10
People are the answer. Recently I’ve leaned into investing my time with experts instead of learning everything on my own, on and off the podcast. I don’t think it’s healthy to be bound by your titles, and our guest today is certainly not. On top of being a yoga instructor and book publisher, Bridget Scisco is fascinated with living life on her own terms. After battling Lymes disease at 13, her perspective about the medical industry shifted. She wondered, is there something I’m not getting here? The answer was yes, but this wasn’t a one-off realization. Over the next decade, Bridget would begin to carve her own path; a common thread with many of our guests, and even more evident today with Bridget’s pursuit of yoga, and later a publishing company.. Today, we go into the details of publishing, auditing your circle, mental diet, and much more. Use the timestamps below to navigate this wide-ranging episode. Visit Her Site for Visibility on Purpose, Exalted Publishing, Her Podcast and More (1:30) - At a young age this disease forced Bridget to look at the medical industry in a different way, and was also the catalyst for carving her own path. (11:00) - The key to getting actual results from your efforts and cheat codes that actually work. (15:35) - Uncovering the difference between the mental and spiritual benefits of meditation. (22:05) - Auditing those around you, recognizing the fact that you’ve grown apart, and continuing to find the value in those relationships. (28:40) - Your mental diet is equally important as your physical diet. (41:15) - Two people who don’t have kids on allowing your kid to quit sports. | [NEW SERIES] BopSolo - 4 Years of Side Hustle Cheat Codes, How to Guarantee Failure, Gen Z, Guitar Simulators and More of Your Questions! | 19 Sep 2022 | 00:37:37
BopSolo is a new solo podcast series diving into listener-submitted questions and breaking down topics I have direct experience in. It’s also the format BopCast started with and one I’d be happy to officially bring back. Today I uncover how to start a side hustle and by that, I mean the 4 step process anybody can follow to launch their own. Keep in mind that what I speak on today is from personal experience. I’m not guaranteeing results, trying to upsell you to a course, or convincing you to do this, rather I’m zooming out from the last few years, and giving you the after-the-fact playbook. Follow these steps with caution; the path is often unpaved and unknown. The only thing I ask of you as a listener is to be included in BopCasts growth by sharing it with a friend and leaving feedback on the video, in a message or DM. They say if you don’t do the business, the business will do you. But how do you actually ‘do’ the business side? We uncover more than a few tactics today. It’s always exciting to step from one passion to another episode by episode. Today I got to sit down with an expert and scratch my business itch. Gabby Braddock is the owner of No Plan B Consulting, the Next Generation Network, and cofounder of The Vault Music Studio, in Boonton, NJ. She emits an aura of positivity and realism that is undeniable, and I was taken away by her articulation and self-awareness. I was so curious about this, that I had to ask her where it came from. | Bobby Doc - Dissing Our Diss Tracks, Opening for Juice WRLD, Country Rap and B.Y.O. Sound Board | 22 Aug 2022 | 01:55:55
We have a lot of rappers on the show, but after talking with 50+, I’ve found that most artists are even more dynamic than their art. Today I sat down with Bobby Doc, who is pursuing a career in music in an attempts to change the game for those that come after him; and that’s only one of his goals. Hiphop is competitive. At times it’s detrimental to the artist, and at others, it’s the reason they succeed. Regardless, I know we can all benefit from more support coming from those that are a bit further down the line. Bobby and I dive into how we can take notes from comedy and comedians in general, and as always on BopCast, we work our way around. Use the timestamps below to navigate, or take the plunge with us for the whole conversation. (1:46) - Opening for Juice WRLD, the Concert Crave Business Model and Being a “Rapper” (8:35) - Why Bobby started writing music and why he never sits down to write. (14:33) - Artists are always efficient in the final hours. Why TikTok consultants charge so much. (17:41) - Is hiphop being competitive a bad thing? Why hiphop should learn from comedy. Is T.I. good at comedy? (22:21) - Donald Glover is the modern-day Dean Martin. And Mark Normand in my DM’s. There is no King of New Jersey in terms of music. (26:46) - Jersey has some of the most talented hiphop artists in the world, but venues don’t want rappers. (31:25) - Getting bumped after selling tickets, why all artists want to get signed, and how Bobby got signed. (37:08) - Sully’s manager wanted him to be Lil Dicky. Bobby and Sully’s writing process. (45:15) - It all started with a diss track. (49:10) - Sully’s first song - You a Goon Diss Track (51:46) - Bobby’s first remix - How to Love (55:00) - Fans are the only thing that matters. (01:04:50) - Country rapper David Morris, F350 Freestyle reaction and David’s come up. (01:06:40) - Bobby’s rap name evolution. (01:11:47) - The origin of the shit show and James Webb telescope pictures. (01:14:03) - Are there really Nazi aliens? The movie Signs. (01:22:15) - Bobby’s fights stories and Sully’s punch in the neck. (01:30:56) - Britney Griner’s case in Russian. (01:36:34) - Are gun people similar to weed people? And the Mathew Cox crime story. (01:45:20) - Are girls crazy for watching murder mysteries? And why they’re smarter overall. (01:49:00) - For those who were mentioned here. (01:49:30) - The future of Bobby Doc.

This is a once-in-4-years podcast. Buckle up. There are artists who primarily focus on the craft, then there are artists who stand for and enact social change on top of what they do in the booth. Tunez does not only speak it in the music, but he’s fighting for something bigger than himself each chance he gets, and today only made that clearer. Tunezzup! is a rapper, songwriter, and producer from Newark, New Jersey. His undeniable bars leave you running back each track attempting to analyze the underlying message. His cadence is dialed-in, refined, and consistent on each record. (01:03:10) - Drake's negative impact on culture and the system that made it possible. (01:10:15) - It’s about the business, not the art. Are we bots yet? (01:12:08) - We are filled with microplastics, specifically phthalates and how led paint caused universal. (01:13:32) - Phthalates make your taint smaller and decrease your sperm count. (01:17:16) - Tunez would do this to your girlfriend if you’re a self-proclaimed alpha. (we died) (01:20:31) - The gender war is a result of a lack of standards. James Harden taking a pay cut is noble. Rappers only purchase liabilities. (01:26:14) - Finding a job that you love is difficult and how Tunez left Chick Fil A (01:33:22) - Seneca Falls and marginalized groups. Aarvee is an artist, songwriter, and producer originally from New Jersey. His precise, hand-crafted hard-hitting bars have transitioned into effortless hooks with undertones of a deeper meaning on each track. His newest song, “morefiend” brings a smooth, guitar-laden backtrack that fits perfectly with his wide backing vocals on the hook. Artists are dynamic. Most podcasters won't take the chance on them because they're 'unpredictable', but that's an excuse to mask the fact that they can't match their energy. Because digital marketing and video content demands more than being simply “managed”. Young Benny is a rapper, songwriter, lyricist, and performer. He's dedicated his life to the craft, and it's tough to remove his hard-hitting and effortless hooks from your head after only one listen. On stage, he carries a swagger that comes with years, but for Benny, it seems ingrained: natural. In this episode, we dive into Benny's aspirations as an artist, his decision to remain dedicated and seek even larger goals, and his falling out with team members that left him questioning who was (and still is) by his side. As artists know, music is cut-throat. It's easy to get caught up in the present to forego future success. His 20+ years in music have allowed him to leave his 9-5 job as a supervisor to pursue music full time, and lean into his creative expression; a level most artists will never get to. In today's interview, Decaf details the ins and outs of making a name for himself in the 90's hip-hop scene from getting jumped at a show that was supped to be for him, to now fusing pyrotechnics into his self-directed music videos. Black serves as an inspiration for artists and dreamers alike and often credits his wife and kids for maintaining his motivation to pursue his passion for music. | Solis - The Big Problem with HipHop Today, J Cole vs Kendrick, and Why You Should Care About Your Culture | 18 Apr 2022 | 02:17:22
Solis is a visionary, rapper, and songwriter, but that's honestly an understatement. When you listen to him - and I mean really listen to him - you can't not feel something. From the dynamic flows and Andre3000esque delivery, Solis treats every beat like a new day; showing up with an opportunity to spread a message. I met Solis for the first time on the podcast and we instantly hit it off. We dove deep into the current state of hiphip comparing the artists of the decades before us with what we're hearing now, and unpacking why it changed. On top of that we uncover why very few of us are in touch with the cultures we came from - something Solis speaks about constantly in his music when it comes to his Puerto Rican and Cuban roots.
