Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted #RetroGrave

Episode 235

mardi 1 novembre 2022Duration 01:32:55

We saved the best for last in this final week of RetroGrave! Neither of us have ever played a VR horror game, so we figured we'd bring you along with us as we tried out Five Nights at Freddy's first VR game: Help Wanted!

While it's technically the 8th major installment in the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, this entry is actually the HIGHEST rated FNaF game to be released so far.

We reviewed the original Five Nights at Freddy's a couple years ago and found it underwhelming, but does the addition of immersive VR change our thoughts?

Before putting on our Meta Quest 2 and screaming at Freddy Fazbear, we catch up on our Overwatch 2 progress, and give updates on our other gaming adventures!

The Mortuary Assistant #RetroGrave

Episode 233

mardi 18 octobre 2022Duration 01:28:46

This week we continue Retrograve with a game that certainly isn't retro, but is most definitely going to get your skin crawling. It's The Mortuary Assistant!

It was developed by the one man team consisting of Brian Clarke and Brian Clarke only over at DarkStone Digital, and let us be the first to tell you: it worked on us.

But does the sheer terror that this game instills in us mean that it's necessarily a GOOD GAME? We aim to find that out.

Before getting into our thoughts on The Mortuary Assistant, we talk about some of our favourite scary games of all time, and all the ways we're getting into the spookiest month of the year!

Slender: The Eight Pages - #RetroGrave

Episode 232

mardi 11 octobre 2022Duration 01:16:29

We kick off #Retrograve with one of the more iconic horror videogames of the last decade or so: Slender: The Eight Pages

Since we started looking at spooky games, a Slenderman game has been one of the most requested titles, and this one does not disappoint.

...or does it?

Just because Slender Man and his legacy creeped us out back then doesn't NECESSARILY mean it'll have the same effect on us 10 years later.

We replay the game and find out just how spooky this game still is.

But before we set off to the forest to collect some hastily scribbled journal papers, we give some updates on Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Elden Ring, Vampire Survivors, and more!

Remember--for the month of October, in celebration of Retrograve, all of our gameplay segments will be posted publicly on YouTube instead of just our patreon channel!

Mortal Kombat 2 (MK 30th Anniversary)

Episode 231

mardi 4 octobre 2022Duration 01:34:49

30 years ago the world of video games was changed forever when Ed Boon and Jon Tobias' ground shaking fighting game Mortal Kombat first made its way to arcades.

This week we celebrate the Mortal Kombat franchise's 30th anniversary with a look back at Mortal Kombat 2 on the Super Nintendo!

Those of you expecting our first episode of Retrograve are going to have to wait one more week because this was too big an event to look past.

Instead we talk about the development of one of the most anticipated sequels of all time, and update our progress on Vampire Survivors, Slay the Spire, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Plus, what would OUR fatalities be?

Sly Cooper And the Thievius Raccoonus (PS2) 20th Anniversary Review

Episode 230

mardi 27 septembre 2022Duration 01:30:00

Hang on to your wallets! This week we're celebrating the 20th anniversary of Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus on the Playstation 2!

Join us as we sneak back to one of the most iconic stealth platformers of the era, and a mascot game which never seemed to get the attention it deserved.

But just because it worked 20 years ago doesn't mean it's still worth playing today. We aim to find out!

Before tiptoeing around that topic, we talk about the history of Sucker Punch games, create our wish list for video game remakes, and talk about how Raccoons hold our city hostage.

PLUS: we give some advice on a listener's question!

mardi 20 septembre 2022Duration 01:38:55

If you think living through 2020-2022 was an odd experience, wait until you go back to 1997 to play Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee!

Believe it or not, this year marks the 25th anniversary of this iconic game and the flagship title from Lorne Lanning's legendary development studio Oddworld Inhabitants. We decided to dust off this classic to find out whether Abe and his friends are still as wildly enjoyable as the day we first met them.

Before delving into the game, we talk about some of the news surrounding Overwatch 2, as well as our most anticipated releases for the remainder of 2022!
