WWE SummerSlam 198823 Jun 202401:46:22

This week on The Random Wrestling Review we journey all the way back to 1988 for the very first SummerSlam event, a night the Mega Powers and Mega Bucks faced each other in tag team action with special referee Jesse 'The Body' Ventura presiding over affairs in what would prove the conclusion of the feud between Hogan and Andre, as well as the beginning of the cracks beginning to appear in the Mega Powers. Also on the show, Intercontinental Champion, Honky Tonk Man's scheduled opponent Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake was out of action after an attack at the hands of Ron Bass, but WWE had lined up a special surprise substitute to challenge for the IC Title...

AEW All Out 202211 Sep 202202:53:14

Last Sunday AEW presented their annual pay-per-view All Out headlined by the World Title collision between Jon Moxley and CM Punk- little did they know however that the REAL news coming out of the show would be what took place immediately after it- specifically, CM Punk's foul-mouthed rant about his peers in the company and his former friend, Colt Cabana, and the physical backstage altercation with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks that would follow. On this week's show we break the whole thing down- the media scrum, the backstage fight and yes, even the 11 match pay-per-view, in a bumper episode of the podcast.

WWE In Your House 17: Ground Zero04 Sep 202202:12:19

Following inadvertently costing The Undertaker the WWE Title at SummerSlam, Shawn Michaels was defiant and attacked The Dead Man as opposed to making an earnest apology. This would lead to the pair facing each other in the main event of this show in what would be their first ever televised singles encounter. Underneath, Bret Hart's anti-American rhetoric had raised the ire of former WCW midcard wrestler, The Patriot who, after having beaten Hart shortly before Hart won the title, was now challenging the Hitman here. Other matches included Goldust against Brian Pillman in an 'indecent proposal' match, the WWE's first ever triple threat match and much more.

It's 30 years since arguably the biggest show in the history of British wrestling as WWE filled Wembley Stadium with over 80,000 people to watch the 1992 edition of SummerSlam! The show was most memorable for the two singles title matches that took place- firstly, for the WWE Title, Randy Savage defending against Ultimate Warrior and also, Bret Hart putting the Intercontinental Title on the line against 'British Bulldog' Davey Boy Smith in what has long been considered one of the best WWE matches of the era.

WWE Fully Loaded 199907 Aug 202202:22:59

This week on The Random Wrestling Review we return to the Attitude Era for a show that sold itself on the premise that it would be the 'end of an era' due to the stipulation of the main event between Undertaker and Steve Austin. According to that stipulation, if Austin successfully defended his WWE Title, Vince McMahon would be gone from WWE forever, while if Undertaker won, Austin would never receive another title shot. Underneath, The Rock and Triple H squared off to be named number 1 contender to the title, X-Pac and Road Dogg took on Chyna and Billy Gunn where the winners would get the naming rights to the D-Generation X brand, and Kane fought The Big Show.

WWE Great American Bash 200624 Jul 202201:40:50

What this meant in practice was, that the much hyped Punjabi Prison Match would now see Undertaker take on Big Show and Batista battling Mr Kennedy. Just two weeks before WCW's Great American Bash pay-per-view in 1991, Ric Flair who was at the time WCW Champion, walked out on the company, throwing the show into chaos. Not only were WCW forced to strip The Nature Boy of the title, but also change the scheduled main event, drafting Barry Windham in to replace Flair in a cage match against Lex Luger, in a match that would fill the title vacancy. In addition to that contest, Rick Steiner & Missy Hyatt were set to do battle with Arn Anderson & Paul E Dangerously in a unique mixed-tag match, and Sting would face Nikita Koloff in a Russian Chain Match.

WWE Vengeance 200503 Jul 202202:06:19

Vengeance 2005 played host to the final match in the series between World Heavyweight Champion Batista, and Triple H, this time in a Hell in a Cell. This came at a time when John Cena had just been drafted over to the Raw brand, and was defending his WWE Title in a triple threat match against both Chris Jericho and Christian, and the very real personal lives of Lita and Edge were just coming to the fore, as Edge wrapped up his feud with Kane. Add on top of that, a dream rematch between Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle, and it all makes for a fascinating look back to the period.

WWE Survivor Series 201014 Nov 202101:54:59

This week the Random Wrestling Review covers Survivor Series 2010 where John Cena was facing a dilemna as he was set to be the Special Guest Referee of the WWE Title match between Randy Orton and leader of the Nexus, Wade Barrett. In addition, the show would also see a World Heavyweight Title collision between Kane and Edge and a traditional Survivor Series contest between Team Del Rio and Team Mysterio.
