This week on The Random Wrestling Review we journey all the way back to 1988 for the very first SummerSlam event, a night the Mega Powers and Mega Bucks faced each other in tag team action with special referee Jesse 'The Body' Ventura presiding over affairs in what would prove the conclusion of the feud between Hogan and Andre, as well as the beginning of the cracks beginning to appear in the Mega Powers. Also on the show, Intercontinental Champion, Honky Tonk Man's scheduled opponent Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake was out of action after an attack at the hands of Ron Bass, but WWE had lined up a special surprise substitute to challenge for the IC Title...

Last Sunday AEW presented their annual pay-per-view All Out headlined by the World Title collision between Jon Moxley and CM Punk- little did they know however that the REAL news coming out of the show would be what took place immediately after it- specifically, CM Punk's foul-mouthed rant about his peers in the company and his former friend, Colt Cabana, and the physical backstage altercation with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks that would follow. On this week's show we break the whole thing down- the media scrum, the backstage fight and yes, even the 11 match pay-per-view, in a bumper episode of the podcast.

Following inadvertently costing The Undertaker the WWE Title at SummerSlam, Shawn Michaels was defiant and attacked The Dead Man as opposed to making an earnest apology. This would lead to the pair facing each other in the main event of this show in what would be their first ever televised singles encounter. Underneath, Bret Hart's anti-American rhetoric had raised the ire of former WCW midcard wrestler, The Patriot who, after having beaten Hart shortly before Hart won the title, was now challenging the Hitman here. Other matches included Goldust against Brian Pillman in an 'indecent proposal' match, the WWE's first ever triple threat match and much more.

It's 30 years since arguably the biggest show in the history of British wrestling as WWE filled Wembley Stadium with over 80,000 people to watch the 1992 edition of SummerSlam! The show was most memorable for the two singles title matches that took place- firstly, for the WWE Title, Randy Savage defending against Ultimate Warrior and also, Bret Hart putting the Intercontinental Title on the line against 'British Bulldog' Davey Boy Smith in what has long been considered one of the best WWE matches of the era.

The Random Wrestling Review checks in with ECW again, this time by reviewing an event largely considered one of their very best pay-per-views, Heat Wave 1998. The night would feature 6 matches including a 6-man main event which saw The Dudleys (Bubba, D-Von and Dick) go up against The Sandman, Tommy Dreamer and Spike Dudley. Also, Rob Van Dam and Sabu defend their tag titles against Jinsei Shinzaki & Hayabusa, Taz putting the FTW title on the line opposite Bam Bam Bigelow and Mike Awesome versus Masato Tanaka.

It's time for the Match Made In Heaven- Randy Savage and Elizabeth's long awaited wedding ceremony, and the Match Made In Hell- Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior against the trio of Sgt. Slaughter, Gen. Adnan and Col. Mustafa, in a double main event. Underneath, Bret Hart and Mr Perfect square off for Perfect's Intercontinental Title, The Mountie and Big Bossman battle where the loser will have to spend a night in jail and Ted Dibiase puts his Million Dollar Title on the line against former employee, Virgil.

This week on The Random Wrestling Review we return to the Attitude Era for a show that sold itself on the premise that it would be the 'end of an era' due to the stipulation of the main event between Undertaker and Steve Austin. According to that stipulation, if Austin successfully defended his WWE Title, Vince McMahon would be gone from WWE forever, while if Undertaker won, Austin would never receive another title shot. Underneath, The Rock and Triple H squared off to be named number 1 contender to the title, X-Pac and Road Dogg took on Chyna and Billy Gunn where the winners would get the naming rights to the D-Generation X brand, and Kane fought The Big Show.

With WWE putting this year's edition of SummerSlam on in late July, our own SummerSlam season begins early, with a look back at the 2013 edition of the show which featured a double main event of John Cena versus Daniel Bryan for the WWE Title and the No-Disqualification match between CM Punk and Brock Lesnar. The night though was perhaps best remembered for what happened immediately after the WWE Title match, with Randy Orton's Money in the Bank cash-in, and Triple H's heel turn- our hosts discuss all of the above, and everything else on the show.
