8. That Summer Feeling: Midsommar

lundi 1 juin 2020Duration 01:12:52

The first horror entry in the Movie Newbie canon was one that didn’t receive a fond appreciation by our host and dear friend Jabriel, not because it was not necessarily a bad movie but because it served its true purpose, sending several chills down his spine. Midsommar centres around a couple travelling to rural Sweden with some of their friends in order to experience the fabled pagan tradition to which the title suggests. The unsettling journey Ari Aster takes us through turns this easy-to-swallow premise into a hard-to-digest story that will have your eyebrows slightly, if not fully, lifted by the time the credits roll.

In this one, we chat about the warm set design, literal and figurative heat, Hip-hop, the amazing Rosie Perez, and that final climactic scene. Hope you guys like this one! It's definitely a personal favourite of ours! SPOILERS AHEAD!
