Take away the fear - living with allergies with Catherine Hobson, Mindful Meets #80

Season 3 · Episode 80

lundi 19 août 2024Duration 01:02:06

Today I talk to Catherine Hobson about allergies, something which impact over 5 million people in the UK.  Catherine chats to me about her personal experience if living with life-threatening allergies and her current work to improve the food industry's focus on all considerations around making the world a safer place for those with food allergies.

Catherine has lived with life-threatening allergies since birth and now has found a way to support the 1% of adults in the UK with allergies. Catherine has founded ActAllergy with her partner Carl Smith. The first exciting product was Catherine's book 'Take Away the Fear. A guide to living with life-threatening allergies' which became an Amazon Best Seller in March this year. Her book, public speaking and health coaching allows her to share her experiences, top tips and empathy with others navigating the world with food allergies. Catherine and Carl together work with the food industry to improve the diner experience and reduce the fear of eating out. Follow them on Facebook to see what they get up to in their world of living with allergies. @ActAllergy or go to www.ActAllergy.co.uk

Finding YOUR version of productivity, with Louise Miller - Mindful Meets #69

Season 3 · Episode 69

vendredi 29 décembre 2023Duration 50:08

We'd all like a genie to help us everyday wouldn't we?

Louise Miller is the genie for your genius.  She partners with coaches, consultants and community-builders who have a big, exciting vision, helping them land their ideas in reality, reach more people and make a bigger impact, whilst taking care of everything they’re juggling day-to-day and being kind to themselves along the way.

Today she talks about productivity and dispels a few myths about how we need to think about it to really make it work for us.

Described by her clients as a soothing balm and a magician, Louise’s experience of work-related stress and anxiety led her to develop a slower, more mindful approach to productivity, which she uses to help her clients get the important things done.

It could change how you live forever!

Poor mental health is not normal! - with Dana Chapman, Mindful Meets #68

Season 3 · Episode 69

lundi 18 décembre 2023Duration 47:10

It was amazing to get Dana on the podcast to share her wisdom and expertise with you.

Dana is a leading mental health and wellness expert, specialising in the gut brain axis. Dana believes that normalising poor mental health is not the correct objective because it is not normal! It’s the body’s way of telling us that something isn’t working as it should. She aims to inspire, motivate, and empower people with knowledge on how their bodies work and what we can do to support our bodies to work at their best.

When we understand the role that stress, genetics, poor nutrition and our lifestyles impact our mental health, and how we can make small, effective and achievable changes in each of these areas, then we can start to believe that poor mental health and poor resilience can be overcome.

Before embarking on her Nutrition career Dana had a successful corporate career working as a consultant for PwC. During this career she saw the far-reaching impacts of stress and poor food choices on performance and health of those around her. Finally following her passion Dana started studying a BSc in Nutrition Science and completed her dissertation on the link between stress, gut health and mental health.

Today Dana works with individuals and companies throughout the UK running programmes and courses for reactive and preventative responses to stress and the impact on the gut. Dana has been featured in many publications, regularly speaks on podcasts and at conferences, notably at Food Matters Live this year.

How to recover from disordered eating with Elle Mace - Mindful Meets - #63

Season 3 · Episode 63

vendredi 29 septembre 2023Duration 51:46

We chat with Elle Mace this month.   It was difficult to come up with a title for this one because we talk about SO much!  Elle talks about her history with restriction, bingeing and bulimia but not just that, also she shares how she came to understand why it was happening and what aspects of her life had contributed to her eating behaviour.

Elle has lived it and experienced it.  She has the experience of living with body dysmorphia and disordered eating which has driven her to be passionate to support anyone suffering with their relationship to food, their body, themselves and others.

Elle Mace is a master practitioner in eating disorders, obesity and nutrition. She works with clients on a 121, group and online basis as well as running retreats and her own podcast.  Her chat with me talks about how she overcame her issues and what she thinks it important to heal others.  We chat about how to raise children without eating issues and the damage of dieting.

We share our coaching common ground and some tips about how you can start to recover from disordered eating.

It's an honest (and fun) conversation!
