He's a former professional skier turned singer who competed in the National Standard Race from 1987 to 2010. From the 2005 to 2010 seasons, he was ranked number one in his age group nationally and in the top twenty men overall in NASTAR. Gary notably founded Spoiled Brats of California, a garment manufacturing company, and he founded a mortgage brokerage company. He also developed Cyborg Information Systems, a fully automated mortgage process software. THE MIKE GORMLEY SHOW, Featuring Jake Gold. Jake Gold has managed Canadian artists The Tragically Hip, The Watchmen, The Cliks, and Sass Jordan. Jake Gold is one of Canada’s most successful artist managers, and for its 6-season run, a judge on the national television hit Canadian Idol. In 1981, Gold started his artist management company, The Management Trust, through which he is best known for establishing and transforming The Tragically Hip into a national icon. In 2020, Gold reunited with The Tragically Hip to direct its legacy in Canadian music history. He also handles the career of acclaimed pop rock band The Pursuit of Happiness and currently oversees a roster of quickly rising talent with co-manager Ryan Hefford. The Management Trust oversees music producers Moe Berg, Laurence Currie, and Russell Broom. The annual Canadian Music Industry Awards have recognized Gold as Manager of the Year in 1991, 1993, and 1994. In 2009, Gold was elected to the CIMA (CIRPA) board, where he served as Vice‐Chairman. Jake is also a former board member for the MMF (Music Managers Forum) and is the 2013 MMF Honour Roll Award recipient for his lifetime work in Artist Management. In 2024, Gold was inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame and has overseen multiple Juno award-winning acts. Mike and Jake are old friends. He was an original member of the British folk rock band Fairport Convention from 1967 to 1969 before leaving to form his band, Matthews Southern Comfort, which had a UK number one in 1970 with their cover of Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock". In 1979, his recording of Terence Boylan's "Shake It" reached No. 13 on the US charts. Iain Matthews has been featured on over 100 albums in a career spanning over fifty years. There’s been an eager audience for the fruits of her work since she and her Animal Logic bandmates dropped their self-titled debut in 1989 and followed it up with Animal Logic II in 1991. She’s also shared six diverse solo albums and records, performed with Wendy Waldman and Cidny Bullens as folk supergroup The Refugees – including their newest, California in 2023 – and scored a handful of feature films, including the cult classic Circuitry Man.
