Regina had a nightmare experience after her first tummy tuck and liposuction with an unqualified surgeon elsewhere, landing in the hospital for two weeks with an abscess followed by home nursing, and then requiring a walker and cane to get around.
When it came time to fix the mess, she was understandably worried. LJCSC plastic surgeon Dr. Swistun removed her dog ears, tightened and smoothed out her skin, and redid her incisions to be barely noticeable.
She’s thrilled to finally be able to look in the mirror and not be reminded of all that baggage from the past.

Lymphatic massage expert Kathleen Lisson explains the important role of your ~800 lymph nodes in post-op recovery. If the lymphatic system is disrupted or overwhelmed, which can occur with plastic surgery, lymphatic massage, or manual lymphatic drainage is often recommended to help with healing and recovery.
The lymphatic system is how your body processes and eliminates waste. Your immune system is part of the lymphatic system, so when a bacteria or virus enters your body, the lymphatic system produces immune cells to fight it.
Manual lymphatic drainage isn’t so much a massage as it is a gentle skin stretching movement that opens up the initial lymphatic capillary and encourages the interstitial fluid to enter into the lymphatic system where waste products, fluids, and bacterias are transported away and eliminated naturally.

Patient Taylor: Surprisingly Smaller Than Expected

Taylor’s least favorite body part has always been her arms. Working in the medical spa at La Jolla Cosmetic, Taylor knew there were a lot of ways to approach body contouring, including those arms. She had already lost 30 lbs, and plastic surgeon Dr. Swistun motivated her to lose 15 more to ensure successful results by showing her what she might look like using special imaging software called Vectra 3D.
After reaching her goal weight, Taylor moved ahead with surgery.
