224. Behind the Scenes: Coaching Conversation
Episode 224
lundi 19 août 2024 • Duration 26:25
In the social selling industry, consistency is often the deciding factor between success and struggle. Yet, many sellers find themselves caught in a cycle of reactive habits, only springing into action during a crisis.
In a recent coaching session with some of her top six and seven-figure earners, Kristen unpacked these challenges and provided actionable insights to help sellers overcome the obstacles to consistency and build a thriving business.
Let’s look at a few highlights:
- Kristen highlighted why many sellers struggle to stay consistent, noting the tendency to only take action during a crisis, which creates a cycle of unhealthy momentum.
- She discussed how both activity and inactivity in this business accumulate over time, with delayed results that make it easy to fall into complacency.
- The conversation also covered the importance of creating and maintaining momentum, especially during sprints, and how sometimes your team needs that extra push to keep moving forward.
Consistency in social selling isn't just about reacting when problems show up—it's about creating and maintaining habits that drive ongoing success. Kristen’s coaching session showed that real success comes from being proactive, simplifying your approach, and keeping your team engaged. Ask yourself what success looks like for you right now and align your actions with that vision.

223. Consumer Behavior- Starbucks + Disney
Episode 223
lundi 5 août 2024 • Duration 19:20
It’s easy to think that if your sales are down, it must be because people aren’t spending money. But if you look around, the evidence tells a different story. From long lines at Starbucks to packed Disney parks, it’s clear that people are still opening their wallets. The key isn’t that they’re spending less, it’s that they’re spending differently. Consumers are focusing more on emotional fulfillment than ever before.
In this episode, Kristen talks to listeners about the current state of consumer spending and behavior. She explores how people are spending money not out of necessity, but for emotional satisfaction. Kristen will guide you through understanding why consumers are prioritizing emotional fulfillment in their purchases and how you can use these insights to tailor your marketing strategies.
Let’s look at a few highlights:
- People are looking for products and experiences that provide a dopamine boost. Their purchasing habits are driven by a quick emotional high.
- Kristen challenges you to analyze your own spending habits over the past month. What did you buy that made you feel good? This self-reflection can provide insights into broader consumer behavior.
- People aren’t just buying things out of necessity anymore. They’re splurging on stuff that makes them feel good.
- Many people would rather find ways to earn more money than cut back on their spending.
- To grab your potential customer’s attention, make sure your product or service hits them on an emotional level. Show how it can bring them joy or solve a problem.
So, despite what you might hear, people are still spending money, but they’re doing it in a way that focuses on how it makes them feel. By understanding these emotional drivers and aligning your marketing strategies accordingly, you can better connect with your audience and see your sales reflect the true state of consumer spending.

214. The Stickiness Problem
Season 1
lundi 3 juin 2024 • Duration 25:38
Have you ever had someone join your team, only to quickly realize that this business model wasn’t for them? Kristen has been noticing a significant issue: the stickiness problem. This has become a common theme in the social selling industry. But why do so many people come in and exit just as quickly?
In today’s episode Kristen dives into the reasons behind this problem and explores ten strategies to improve retention and help your team members stick around.
Let’s look at a few highlights:
- Stickiness refers to the ability to retain new team members effectively. It’s about how many people join your team and how many actually stay and thrive.
- Kristen emphasizes that addressing these issues requires strategic changes in how leaders bring people onto their teams and support them once they join
- Consider what shifts you need to make in your approach to help people stick to your team. What questions can you ask during the vetting process? How can you better support new members in their initial days
- How can you work with new team members to adjust their expectations and recognize smaller, incremental successes rather than expecting immediate, large wins?
Not everyone is cut out for social selling, and it's crucial to differentiate between those who are serious about the opportunity and those who are merely wishful thinkers.
Remember, it's your team too. There is work you have to do to keep the "right" team members. Reflect on these points and consider the shifts you need to make to ensure you're attracting and retaining the best people for your team. What questions can you ask to ensure you're bringing in the right people and setting them up for success? The success of your team starts with your leadership and the standards you set.

127. Codependent Accountability
Season 1
lundi 5 septembre 2022 • Duration 19:56
Keeping yourself motivated and on track to reach your goals is hard. Whether your goal is to lose weight or hit that next rank in your business, it can be easy to lose sight of the finish line when things get rough. This is why so many people look outside of themselves for accountability. It can be the fun and excitement of meal planning and prepping or buying all the pens and stickers to go with your new planner. The real truth is that in the end - nothing and no one can hold you accountable but you.
The practice of outsourcing your motivation is what Kristen calls codependent accountability, and it’s something we’ve probably all done in the past. But she’s here to explain why it might not be the best thing if you truly want to reach those goals.
Listen in as she goes over these topics:
- How to know if you’re crowdsourcing your motivation and accountability
- The importance of being emotionally connected to your why
- Kristen’s personal journey with health and wellness and how she keeps her motivation in check
- Why focusing on small wins can help keep you on track
Learning to be accountable for your own goals isn’t going to happen overnight. It’s a skill you have to learn, and there are sure to be bumps along the way. Remember to give yourself grace and allow for a few missteps. Eventually, you’ll get to where you want to be. Just remember why you’re on the journey in the first place.

126. Passive vs. Active Selling
Season 1
lundi 29 août 2022 • Duration 30:02
No one ever said network marketing was going to be easy. But some people in this industry think that by just setting up a website and building a funnel, they’ll have to fight off new customers with a stick. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. When you’re first starting out, your number one job is to generate revenue. You can’t sit around expecting people to show up on their own.
These are actually two totally different selling types known as active and passive selling. And this week, Kristen is going to explain to you where each type of selling fits in based on where you are in your business.
Here are a few takeaways:
- Run down of the differences between passive and active selling
- What happens when you jump into passive selling too soon in your business
- Examples of active selling that can get you back into practice
- The importance of engagement with your audience in the active selling phase
- How to know when it’s time to move into passive selling
If you’re in the early phases of your business or not yet meeting your revenue goal, it can be tempting to jump the gun into the passive selling phase. But the easiest way to get where you want to be is to ramp up your active selling. Engaging with your audience in an authentic way will grow your audience and, eventually, your bottom line. Stay consistent, friends!

125. Reel Talk with Brock Johnson
Season 1
lundi 22 août 2022 • Duration 39:12
Does Instagram still seem like a mystery to you? With all the recent changes to the algorithm that rewards more views to video content over static images, it’s left the social selling industry in flux, not knowing what the next best move is. And that’s where our guest, Brock Johnson, comes in.
Brock rocketed to a 7-figure income by the age of 25 using social media, and here’s here this week with Kristen to dish about all things Instagram growth. Brock grew his IG account by 400k+ in a matter of months organically and sustainably and now teaches others how to do the same.
Here’s what they’re talking about this week:
- Why it’s not too late to jump into doing reels
- How to nix your niche drama (and it’s easier than you think!)
- The important distinction between fans and followers
- How having a smaller following can give you an advantage with engagement
- Ways to protect your time and energy from falling into content creator burnout
- What to do when the haters inevitably show up
The verdict is in: perfectly curated profiles are out, while authentic and genuine are in. Instagram doesn’t have to be scary. Commit to doing the work consistently and imperfectly, and you will see growth. Not just unengaged followers but fans who want to get to know you and trust your authority.

124. Impractically Perfect
Season 1
lundi 15 août 2022 • Duration 25:01
Some people wear their perfectionist title like a badge of honor. Spending time and energy to get all the tiny details just right. But when it comes to growing your business and, more importantly, growing your paycheck, trying to be perfect could be what’s holding you back.
In this week’s episode, Kristen talks about why perfectionism causes what she calls ‘analysis paralysis’ and what to do about it.
Here are a few key points:
- Understanding what happens when you’re caught in a perfection loop
- Why failure is a necessary step in growing your business
- How perfectionism creates an all-or-nothing mindset
- What messy progress can do for growth
Striving for perfection doesn’t sound like a bad thing in theory. And it isn’t always. But when you’re stuck overthinking and overanalyzing every small detail of your business, that's when the problem arises. Feeling like you have to be perfect creates a heavy burden that you just don’t have to bear. Practice doesn’t always make perfect, but it does make progress.

Season 1
mercredi 10 août 2022 • Duration 48:39
Finding and implementing the next best “strategy” or “tip” isn’t the secret to growing your business. It’s never about finding out what’s working for someone else. Success is an inside job. Today’s guests on the podcast, mastermind members Beka and Laura, are sharing their personal experiences around this exact concept and how their expectations were exceeded, but in a very different way.
Here are a few highlights:
- The myth that speed is the only way to success
- The massive shifts experienced outside of their business since joining the mastermind
- How they learned to trust themselves and not look to others to help make decisions
- Why they had to stop measuring a year’s journey in a 6-month time frame
- How mastermind members learn to untie their value and self-worth from their business results and use those results as data and information to make CEO decisions instead
- Their expectations of getting ‘tips and tricks’ from the mastermind vs. what they really got when they joined.

122. Calling Your Own BS
Season 1
lundi 8 août 2022 • Duration 23:56
Have you ever caught yourself in the middle of a trash thought and wondered how you got there? Sometimes when you’re in the middle of doing something hard (hitting a big goal, trying to exercise more, getting the kids to stick to a bedtime routine), your brain offers these thoughts to try and seek out comfort. It’s not working. I’m not good enough. Nobody listens to me. When in truth - these are just thought patterns you’ve created in order to remove yourself from discomfort.
And that’s ok to a point.
But having these trash thoughts and then choosing to believe them and, in turn - allowing them to alter your course is not ok. Instead, Kristen is encouraging you to call yourself on your own BS. Instead of accepting these stories as facts, she wants to show you how to recognize these thought patterns in order to break the cycle and win the day.
Here’s how:
- Why being prepared for these thoughts can ultimately crush the pattern
- Where (and why!) guilt comes into play
- How to recognize the indications that will alert you when you’re engaging in self-sabotage
- Important questions to ask yourself when stuck in a pattern of self-sabotage
Getting clear on your own BS behavior is the first step. Your brain will default to these same thoughts and feelings over and over when things get hard. And if you can anticipate these thoughts, it will help you to stay on top of your game and out of your own way in order to reach your goals.
