Dan Ramos is a working comedian and actor from Montreal and has had a reoccurring role on Phantom Pups, currently streaming now on Netflix, as well as has appeared on Bobby Lee’s Tiger Belly, available wherever you get your podcasts, and a poop-ton of commercials.

In this episode, me and Dan talk about his love for improv and sketch, stories of pilot season and testing with one of our favorite working actors, a fun story of working with Pauly Shore and meeting Dave Chappelle at his home in Ohio, acting in the rapidly-changing landscape of TV and film, and all of the dumb guy stuff. He even shows off his 9/11 commemorative paperweight a mutual friend, Nick Borsellino got at a goodwill!

This episode was a few months in the making and I am very glad to have finally had him.

Rhys Foulke is an LA-based comedian originally from Charleston, SC. Catch Ryhs in LA and in Charleston sometime. He’s only been at it for a few years but I genuinely love watching work and I seeing him grow as a comic.

We discuss plagiarism, parallel thought, how over-glorified weed is, substance abuse, mental health, love, empathy, happiness, rooting for everyone to succeed, focusing on you in the wake of your peers’ successes, Vegemite, how underrated of a comedy scene the West Side has, and a whole bunch more.

This episode was recorded the day disgraced YouTuber “Def Noodles” copy and pasted my listing of mics in LA which yes, IS plagiarism (and not the first time he's done similar things), so naturally we make fun of him but spared no energy making fun of all of the YouTubers who go after him. Most of it was pretty playful.

In the month since recording this episode, a crazier story unfolded that ultimately resulting in him discontinuing virtually all operations at Def Noodles Comedy Club. I'm not going to get into that publicly, but in my eyes, all of those YouTubers are heroes to the LA comedy scene (Special shoutout to Moist Cr1TiKaL and SunnyV2).

Halfway to 100! Evan Warner is an LA-based stand-up comedian from Hawaii who you can see doing weekends regularly at the HaHa Cafe in North Hollywood.

We discussed the shift in gatekeeping power in TV, film, and even comedy from both the lower barrier of entry to produce content, the differences in lifestyle between LA/NYC and Middle America that leads to different viewing habits, how mind-blowingly impressive the production value of live entertainment is; from the guitar and base techs, to the lighting people, all he way down to the guy whose job it is to fund a stage banner literally the size of a house. We discussed the economics of live comedy, breaking down to everything from ticket sales of comedy’s biggest names, all the way down to comedy in a market like LA.
