vendredi 10 mai 2024 • Duration 01:50:36
Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!
This week, Chris and Ryan are happy to announce that frequent guest Jordan Perry is now joining the show is a permanent co-host! And with that, we dive into three horror films about a late night shift gone awry. We start with 2016's "The Autopsy of Jane Doe," which has rich atmosphere and two excellent leads, and that gets it through a somewhat rough final leg. Then, we move into 2014's "Last Shift," which has a couple cool concepts but never coheres. Finally, we dive into 1989's ridiculously-entertaining "Intruder," directed by Sam Raimi protege Scott Spiegel, features a bunch of Raimi-regulars (including himself, brother Ted, and Bruce Campbell), and gruesome effects by Robert Kurtzman and Greg Nicotaro.

This week, in lieu of a normal GBW episode because of dual travel trips, Ryan and Chris are dusting off an episode from their now-defunct Patreon page for all listeners to hear. That of course is the feature length commentary of one of our mutually-favorite trashterpieces: 1982's "Pieces." Note: To listen to the commentary along with the film, hit play on the podcast at the same time you hit play on the film.

jeudi 28 mars 2024 • Duration 02:40:42
Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!
This week, Chris and Ryan are joined once again by friend of the show Jordan Perry for the epic, definitive discussion of all three "Road House" films. Yes, you heard that right. Three. Wait, what is the other besides the classic 1989 Patrick Swayze vehicle and the recent 2024 remake with Jake Gyllenhaal, you might ask? Well, did you know there was a 2006 direct-to-video, name-only sequel called "Road House 2: Last Call"? Now you do! And we discuss them all here for almost three hours!

GBW #125: Cold as Ice (The Soldier [1982] / The November Man / Tenet)
vendredi 22 mars 2024 • Duration 02:15:43
Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!
This week, Ryan and Chris dive into three action spy films that all deal with the remnants of the Cold War. We start with James Glickenhaus' kick-ass 1982 exploitation flick "The Soldier," which makes up for its small budget with impressive, wall-to-wall stunts and a scorching Tangerine Dream score. Then, we move into 2014's "The November Man," a disappointing return for Pierce Brosnan into the spy world and a disappointing reunion for him and his "Dante's Peak" director Roger Donaldson. Finally, we move into now two-time Oscar-winner Christopher Nolan's most polarizing film, the 2020 time-bending "Tenet."
