Been a hot minute but today we cover the last six weeks on our unplanned hiatus. Mostly we talk about Wisconsin Sheep and Wool.
Litterbox
Terri: I have wool coming out of my ears. Wisconsin Sheep and Wool. Will talk about this here a bit.
Libby: I got some really fun things at Wisco Sheep and wool. I’ll cover what I got in the Ooh shiny section. I also had so much fun just looking at things and hanging out. I had my busiest month, but after the 27th things should calm down a little for me.
PAWS
Terri:
Ilya Sweater- Caitlin Hunter I’m using Ullcentrum Yarn in a heathered black, turquoise, and light gray.
Juniper Cowl-Toni Lipsey- I haven’t made any progress
My Favorite Vanilla Socks-I haven’t made any progress
Musselburgh Hat-Ysolda. I think this is my 8th or 9th, not sure. I am making this out of 100 Ravens Yaksha fingering in a purple gradient mini set. 70 merini 20 yak and 10 nylon. Yaksha fingering
Adventurous Wrap-(ravelry link) I’ve just about got the first half of this done. Not made a lot of progress on this one this month, but I will pick it back up soon. I’ve been wanting to get to the halfway point decisively.
Palmistry miits-Stephanie Lotven using my handspun icelandic with the pops of neon that I spun up. Just at the ribbing.
Libby:
Colorblock Bag - stashed
Wizard Hat by Morale Fiber - stashed
Crochet bucket hat - easy design. Haven’t officially started but I am gathering colors
Golden rod wrap top - earthtricks, haven’t officially started, but deciding on yarn. Going to do the sleeveless hoodless version first
Cat Sith Beanie - swatch is done, deciding which color to use first and wanted to finish my legwarmers before I really got going (got distracted)
Happy Glamper Cup Cozy - Craftily Connected website, admittedly haven’t looked at anything else on the site, just found this pattern and started it with my new hook & some (I think it’s cotton?) yarn I was given from Terri’s stash. I just started this last night but I am learning how to do a foundation SC instead of chaining so I had to frog and will restart as I didn’t read the pattern well enough and did not leave a long tail.
FO PAWS
Terri:
Ezra Vest-Orlane Sucche I am doing this in Kelbourne Woolens Scout the Juniper Heather colorway. This is done.
Dustland Hat- Stephen West Leaf Livestock DK-chartreuse
Purl Soho Classic Cuffed Beanie- in handspun. I think it was polypay that I spun up in a slightly uneven worsted weight yarn from Mitten State wool. I almost ran out. I closed the top one round early and I had about 8 inches of yarn left.
Paul Klee Sweater (ravelry link)- Midori Hirose On the second sleeve! Might finish by the time we record
Libby:
Crochet Cozy Legwarmers - All done! These turned out so cute, they’re thick and cozy (the title was correct). If I made them again I would maybe pick a yarn that is slightly thinner because they did get pretty bulky in spots. Perfect for our falling temperatures we are FINALLY getting. Will photograph this week.
From Fluff to Stuff
Let’s talk Fleeces. I have really come into a lot of wool fleeces lately.
Ooh Shiny!
Terri: Fleeces. I want all the different kinds. I thought I would take this opportunity to talk about what I got in Wisconsin if I can remember it all. HAHA…
I bought 3 fleeces and picked up one I purchased already.
First one was an incredible Corriedale from Observatory Hill Farm. I have washed this one already and it is AMAZING. Soft, Various Grays. It is so beautiful. That sheeps name was Icey (Ice Wine).
Second one I bought was an Icelandic from Redmer Farms. It’s a gorgeous gray and white varied fleece. It’s stunning. I have washed this one already. It barely needed it, I swear it was the cleanest fleece I’ve ever seen. VM is almost non-existant. It was the easiest thing I’ve ever cleaned. His name was Mortimer/Morty and he came with a thank you note for buying his fleece. It is adorable.
Third one was some dark gray Gotland from Three Towers Farm LLC. This is also washed. I don’t know this sheeps name. Lovely, well defined curls. I find Gotland really interesting to spin.
The one I picked up was from Jubilee Farms and it is a Merino Leicester cross. I have washed about a pound of this one. I’ll probably work on this one more this week. It is a really interesting mix. It is VERY soft, but also has quite a luster and definitely a longer staple than merino. I hope to spin up a sample this week to see what it’s like as yarn and maybe dye some to see how it takes dye.
I also bought 4 skeins of worsted weight Leceister from this booth. It was really nice to meet a wafa vendor.
I bought LOTS of things and the Frivolous Ewe booth. I just love her wool and her colors. She dyes so beautifully saturated colors.
I bought a skein of The fingering neon tweed at KnitzandPearls booth.
I got you a Crochet Hook and a southdown batt at Starknits.
I bought the mini set at Hundred Ravens
I bought a Halloween-y skein at Oink Pigments
I bought a bunch of soap at Floppy Ear Farm as well.
I bought a lot less fiber than I thought I would. I think I was a bit overwhelmed by it all. It was SO MUCH FUN. I am going to make a better plan of attack next year because I definitely missed some things I wanted to see.
Libby: WI sheep and wool stuff:
Cool yarn: Knitzandpearls Fiberworks, Plummyliscious Groovy Glow Tweed in fingering weight, 2 skeins purple and pinks with flecks of neon orange, yellow & green (blacklight reactive)
Crochet Hook: starrknits Size 5 mm (h) custom blue clay handle with orange swirls - I’m using this currently for my mug cozy
Earrings: Oink Pigment Tiny skein earrings and Needle gauge earrings - I’m a sucka for earrings
(the skeins are blue & green ad the needle gauges are holographic blue & purple
Felting Kit: Felted sky forest toadstool kit. Comes with felting wool, a wool mat, two color-coded needles, beginner’s guide, instructions & a link to a video
Toiletry products: Floppy ear farm, headache shower steamers (peppermint & eucalyptus), lavender & lemongrass goat milk soap, blueberry thyme soy candle, and Patchouli goat milk lotion
Also got a whole bag of yarn from when Terri visited
I have a ton of ooh shiny patterns for next episode
Leisure Suit-
Terri-So much stuff over the last month. I did start Gilmore Girls at your place and I am still watching Criminal Minds. Started rewatching Midnight Mass. I LOVE THAT SHOW. I will probably have to rewatch it every October.
Libby:
Sopranos - We did finish the sopranos, it was very good but I have feelings about the ending like everyone else does
Gbbs - Finished my rewatch of the older seasons, haven’t started the new season quite yet.
The crown - on season 2 episode 3, I really like this show actually. Matt Smith is awesome in it
Gilmore Girls - Started my rewatch when the fam was here and I’m now on like season 3.
Catnip- WIsconsin trip/Back to the Future musical. My anniversary DRUM CARDER from my husband.
Libby: Wisconsin trip, 2 festivals, zeds dead in Madison
The Fluff- Terri: The cats are doing well still. Not much here to report again. I missed them when we were in Wisconsin, but they had someone stopping in to feed them and I could see them on our camera and talk to them. I think that definitely helped.
Libby: Penny is so loud all the time lol. I’m not really sure why. She’s been playing with more toys which is awesome to see.

FO PAWS

Libby: Finished my last pumpkin - posted photos of them all on instagram last week.
From Fluff to Stuff -I plied my purple people eater dye experiments. I started spinning some Polypay/rambouillet blend that I got at the last WAFA sale from Leaf Livestock. It spins up quite lovely.
What is Polypay? A medium sized sheep breed that was developed in the 1960s at the US Sheep Experimentation Station in Idaho. They are noted for being good meat and wool sheep. They are a cross of 4 sheep breeds: Rambouillet, Targhee, Dorset, and Finnsheep.
I am enjoying it a lot. I’m spinning it the thinnest I’ve spun yet. It’s so easy to spin. It’s roving instead of top so it’s not as smooth but it’s very soft.

Ooh Shiny!
I’m still crushing on Sweater by Stephanie Lotven. It’s now also in a sweater pattern and I’m in love.
I also need to talk about yarn shops I visited and how fun it all was.
While in Madison, I stopped at Fiddlesticks Knits and picked up some gorgeous yarn. There was a trunk show for .
We missed Sunset Yarns, which looked great, but closed at noon and didn’t reopen until Tuesday after I would already be gone.
We did get over to Verona, WI to check out the Sow’s Ear.

Been watching Brooklyn 99, a bit, too.
Also, my husband and I started Good Omens season 2. Michael Sheen is delightful, David Tennant is delightful. I’m also really enjoying a character played by Nina Sosanya. From Fluff to Stuff
Tour De Fleece. I’m was on the #campwooligan team. I did quite a bit for Tour de Fleece. I did a 500 + yard skein of fingering weight (2 ply) that I spun up from rolags I made from some farm merino from Leaflivestock and some stuff I dyed. It’s gorgeous. Also from Leaflivestock, I spun up a 3 ounce Merino columbia and tencel batt in some lovely grays. I spun up a 4 ounce braid of bfl in very muted but gorgeous colors from Hens and Chicks fiber, I also spun up about 3 ounces of rolags that were Ruthie themed. That turned out quite lovely. I did 4 ounces of rolags from Gritty Knits. THey are wildly colored. I love them. THey are very tweedy and multicolored. I spun up some weird rolags I made (will explain). Last but not least, I spun up some locks! Those are fun!
My husband also bought me a tensioned lazy kate.
Ooh Shiny!
Terri: I thought I would talk about a couple things. FIrstly, our trip to Chicago and the yarn shopping! We made it to two stores the Bloomin’ Spindle and Knit1. Both lovely stores and I loved my acquisitions. I will elaborate and you will as well I’m sure.
Spincycle Yarns- scroll down to see the great things this company offers their employees. Then definitely do some shopping.
Second: Last weekend I went to the Fargo Fiberfest. I found a few things I really liked and picked them up. I will elaborate on that too. This year had much less fiber than last. More yarn. I knew someone who had CVM would be there, but I wanted fiber unfortunately all they brought was yarn and I wasn’t really looking for yarn because I definitely scratched that itch in Chicago.
Libby: Yarn I got from Bloomin’ Spindle and knit1. No idea what I will do with any of these yarns
Farmers daughter - reminisce in Come an get your love 3 skeins Montana and wy ramboulet
Crochet bucket hat - easy design. I spoke about this previously, gonna pick fall colors I think?
Golden rod wrap top - earthtricks, so cute pattern comes with option for sleeves and hood, I may try a non-hooded sleeveless one to start. Not sure on color yet I think i covered this one a LONG LONG time ago.
I also ordered a kit from Earthtricks, comes with an assortment of yarn in fun colors and thicknesses and 1 pattern. I think I chose the Unicorn fluff color (blues/purples) and the pattern I chose was the cat sith beanie
Leisure Suit-
Terri-Midsummer Murders has been put on the back burner. I’m so deep into Criminal Minds. I think it’s because I’m not paying a ton of attention. I’m sometimes reading, and also usually knitting and doing other things.
My Life is Murder has a new season up. I watch that one each time a new episode is uploaded. Also House of Dragon.
Libby:
Olympics
House of Dragon - caught up
Sopranos - 2 episodes left, we’ve been putting it off because Brian doesn’t want it to end
Gbbs - now I’m on the older seasons that are on roku tv
Started the crown, I think I’m at the part where Elizabeth just became queen
Catnip- Chicago! What fun we had. YARN! Vampire Weekend was AMAZING. What a crowd, and lovely venue.
Libby: Chicago, 2 weekends at home.
The Fluff- Terri: The cats are doing well still. Not much here to report again. I missed them when I was away and will miss them next month. I got them some new cat toys like I did last year at the Fargo Fiber Fest.
Libby: Pennys been playing with this bird bell toy lately and is more spoiled than ever.

FO PAWS
Libby: Dino- Homemade by Ani - Finished the first and an inverted second one! Gave the second one to a friend of mine for her birthday last week
From Fluff to Stuff -I plied my purple people eater dye experiments. I started spinning some Polypay/rambouillet blend that I got at the last WAFA sale from Leaf Livestock. It spins up quite lovely.
Finished Polypay and plied it. Had a bit left over that I left on a bobbin. I also finished the Alpaca, bamboo, Rambouillet (Clear Sky Fibers)that I had started. Plied that as well, also had a bit left over. I then started and finished some merino and silk noil rollags from Jesse Javete and I wasn’t sure what to ply them with, so I did up some black and hot pink merino rollags. Those came out so HAWt lol. It’s like Lisa Frank and Darth Vader had a baby wrapped in a pride flag. It’s glorious. And lo and behold I had some of the pink and black leftover from that. So, I then took the merino in pink and black and pied it with the remaining alpaca, and then some of the polypay for about an ounce of some really cool marled yarn. It all turned out so fabulous. I need to wash and get pictures up.
Ooh Shiny!
I need a quick project. Will find some. Also ponchos
Terri- We had paused Vampire Diaries as our together watching show and we are going between only murders in the building and Loki. We made it back to Vampire Diaries after all of that.

The Happy Camper- SO CLOSE. Just have the cord left, which I am going to finish before we leave Tuesday (probably tonight), so that I can wear it. It is gorgeous - decided to make it a little bigger than the pattern is, due to my gauge, yarn, etc. Wanted it a little bigger on my head. The color of yarn I used turned out so beautiful (Lollipop - Knitpicks Chroma)
Pumpkins - shelved until I’m back from Wakaan - I got a migraine the weekend I was going to go to Joann’s to get supplies
FO PAWS
Terri: Random Hat-no pattern, cast on in one of my earliest handspun yarns. The handspun is a combo of two strands. One is a gray shetland and the other is made out of a bunch of rolags. It was really loosely plied, but worked well. It’s a cozy hat. Knit 88 sts 2x4 ribbing. Then sized up my needle and did a quick decrease at the top.
From Fluff to Stuff -
I plied my Barbie pink that I spun from rolags. I adore it. I finished the full 8 ounces of the blue merino/silk
Fibercats dyepots: I have dyed up some more colors for my Halloweenish project. I dyed up a bright orange and a charcoal gray, then did a bright yellow. I will post this week some of my greens that I have been playing with.
Spooky Boogeyman Cowl and Mitts (RAVELRY LINKS)-Sarah Kelley Love these so much. I’m going to dye up some yarn. It’s the reason I was playing with greens.
Wool and Fiber arts Community on Facebook.
Haunted House KAL- Stephanie Lotven-tellybeanknits (instagram) I remembered the KAL info!
Libby: My ooh shiny this week is a little all over the place. Loving seeing all the Halloween patterns and fall patterns. Definitely getting ideas for next year too, so I can start things earlier and have them ready for fall.
Ghosts Wearing Hats - AQCrochets on insta, patterns on etsy. There is a low sew and no sew version, each with different hats for the ghosts
Lumpy Space Princess - Crochet by Val, Amigirumi.mind on insta, couple places to get the pattern in the links. Also has teletubbies and sully from Monsters Inc.
Yarn: The discreet Unicorn - hand dyed yarn and fiber. GORGEOUS colors, lots of bright colors and pastels. Very unicorn like
Leisure Suit-
Terri: Finished Breaking Bad. I covered a lot of ground on this since the last podcast. There was a period of time where Skylar was really going through it. Talk about final thoughts.
Started rewatching Charmed. That’s a trip. I vaguely remember the story lines.
Also started rewatching Brooklyn 99. I needed a laugh last night. So, there it is. I only got through 2 episodes.
The Witcher- Watching with my husband. It’s ok but I’m not as into it as I was in the first and second series…not sure.
Libby: Watching through Vampire Diaries. It’s actually a lot better than I remember. I’m on like season 3, I don’t know that I ever actually finished the show.
Watching Schitt’s Creek again. Brian said he forgot how funny it was. Absolutely one of my favorite shows.
Catnip-
Terri: Just had my 4th anniversary with my husband on Thursday.
For my anniversary present I got the Hocus Pocus Lego kit. LOVE it. I had been drooling over it. I was completely surprised.
Libby: Went to Infrasound Equinox with a bunch of friends in Minnesota - had a great weekend. Celebrated my birthday a little. Got home and went straight on a work trip, which was exhausting, but I got to see one of my best friends so it was well worth it.
The Fluff-
Terri: I bought my cats a donut. Bowie and Ruthie really like it. I throw a ball in there when they are in the mood to play and they just roll around in it and chase the ball. It’s really cute. We also bought them automatic dry feeders in hopes that the weekend morning will go easier and for when we go Wisconsin it will make things easier for our cat sitter.
Libby: Penny has been a menace without her diffuser, as we left it in ND. Brian had to watch her while I was out of town and she did not love it. She hardly lets me out of her sight right now. Kinda sad to leave her but I know she’s in good hands and will love the visit from mom, Steve and Cillian. I’m thinking about getting a camera, so I can check on her too and ease some of my separation anxiety LOL
