| Ep 95: Luxury Real Estate Agent Carl Gambino Dominates in Multiple Market | 04 Jun 2025 | 00:32:53 | |
Carl Gambino is a hustler and a boss, but ontrary to popular belief, he is not the grandson of one of New York's most infamous crime bosses Carlo Gambino. Actually, Carl grew up in New York and New Jersey in a modest middle class home and cut his teeth in sales at 19 years old by making hundreds of cold calls in boiler rooms across New York. Facing constant rejection and working the phones all day long was an incredible training ground for the world of high end real estate he was about to enter in the years to come. It was not a straight line to real estate stardom for Carl. After a few years of hard core sales jobs in NYC a fortuitous lifestyle change brought him out West to explore opportunities in the entertainment industry. Los Angeles was not an easy transition and finding a career in Hollywood was illusive to say the least. Something had to change, and it did. A friend who was a real estate developer made an introduction to Kurt Rappaport, the most successful real estate agent on planet, and everything changed. Carl brought his insatiable ambition and 24-7 work ethic and absorbed everything he could working with Kurt and Stephen Shapiro, the founders of Westside Estate Agency. He became obsessed with leaning everything he could about high end real estate and was lucky enough to have a few huge big breaks representing young pop stars which created massive PR momentum. He parlayed this into a client book of young Hollywood elites and business managers and never looked back. As his business exploded he left WEA and partnered with Compass to build his own team which now operates in Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey and Miami with over $2 billion in sales. In this episode you will understand his rapid rise to the top. School is in session. If you love real estate as much as we do please subscribe and leave us a comment on Apple Podcast and Youtube! | How do Real Estate Agents Educate Their Clients? | 03 Dec 2019 | 00:03:40
As markets inevitably shift every 7-10 years it is imperative for great brokers to educate their clients. If you don't manage your buyers and sellers expectations up front prior to going on the market, or before you get into escrow, you'll have a very high cancellation rate and more deals will fall a part. This is starting to happen more often on the westside as we Transition out of the extended sellers market and into a normalized or balanced market. The skilled, experienced agents shine in times like this and strong agents will pick up market share as buyers and sellers make a flight to quality. Clients will become much more selective when hiring a listing agent or buyers agent and Inexperienced agents and agents without tight skills will be exposed.

| Why You Should Not Hire Redfin or Discount Real Estate Brokers | 04 Nov 2019 | 00:03:12 | |
In our business the discount broker almost always means expect A discounted price on your sale listed by an agent with limited skill. If you are a seller you are nuts to do this. If you are a buyer your only chance to get a house is to go after a house no one else Wants, or pay dramatically more than anyone else which ive Aeen several times when buyers are represented by a discount broker. Like everything in life you get what you pay for. Hire a seasoned broker who you like and trust and don't waste your time or money on a discount broker.

In 2010, Matt Hannaford left the legendary Beverly Hills Sports Council and joined Dan Lozano to form MVP Sports Group. Together they've represented some of the biggest names in baseball, including Albert Puljos, Manny Machado, Joey Votto, Josh Donaldson, Kurt Suzuki, Alex Rodriguez, Jimmy Rollins, Carlos Beltran, Mike Piazza, Nick Swisher, Brian Wilson and several other up and coming major league super stars. Earlier this year, Matt negotiated the largest free agent contract in American sports history for Manny Machado ($300 million over 10 years). Matt and I dive deep into the life and obstacles of a professional baseball player, the mindset of a young prospect, deciding on going to play in college or signing a pro contract out of high school and surviving the minor league grind, which is a nightmare. He also touches on the misinformation being fed to parents in youth baseball around the country and why year round travel ball/club teams are usually detrimental to your children. | Why Is An Escrow Company So Important When You Buy A Home? | 14 Oct 2019 | 00:03:43
Real estate agents have to rely on escrow companies, title companies and inspectors to provide expertise and guidance for our clients throughout the transaction. It's imperative to have reliable, detail oriented escrow officers that can proactively handle the transaction with flawless execution no matter how busy they get or how many files they are managing. That is their job and when they don't do it consistently it make us real estate agents look really bad. Stakes are very high in luxury real estate, one mistake by an escrow officer could cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars in future referrals. Make sure your escrow officer is on point or find one that is.

| Do Nice Guys Finish Last in Business? Are you a Dolphin or a Shark? | 18 Aug 2019 | 00:02:43 | |
In this cut throat industry of high end luxury real estate you always have to watch your back. Stakes are high and there's always people trying to take you down. | #11 - Steve Shull - His Path From the NFL Gridiron to Coaching Real Estate Moguls | 12 Aug 2019 | 00:44:01
Steve Shull was a Captain for the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl XVII when Washington Redskins Hall Of Fame running back John Riggins ran over a Dolphins defender and broke off a 43 yard touchdown on a 4th and 1 play which is still known as one of the most defining moments in Super Bowl history. This run overshadowed what may have been the biggest hit in Super Bowl history when Steve Shull knocked the Redskins Clarence Harmon unconscious on a key block that led To a touch down that gave the Dolphins the lead before succumbing to the Redskins in the second half. Steve's journey to the NFL was extraordinary. He was recruited by one small school out of high school and after a solid Collegiate career he was an undrafted free agent for the Miami Dolphins Don Shula the winningest coach in NFL history . As an undersized linebacker from a small College Steve defied all odds and outworked the competition to earn the final roster spot and become a linebacker and stand out on special teams . The lessons engrained in him on the gridiron —work ethic, mental toughness, thinking big and discipline have served him well in his post NFL career. He's the founder and CEO of Performance Coaching where he coaches some the biggest real estate agents in world each closing hundreds of millions of dollars in home sales each year. This is the real life story of a long shot overcoming impossible odds, proving once again that relentless hard work and preparation always beats talent on and off of the field. | Why Are Top Real Estate Agents Leaving The Agency? | 05 Aug 2019 | 00:01:45
It's time to set the record straight. I left The Agency to pursue an incredible opportunity at Compass. To say I am happy about my decision to join Compass is an understatement, but not because something was wrong at The Agency. I love Maurico, Billy, Santiago and Blair. The guys treated me very well at The Agency and I have nothing but respect and appreciation for them. What they've achieved and will continue to achieve in the years to come is impressive. | Can You Close Escrow On A New Construction Home Without a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O)? | 08 Jul 2019 | 00:03:02
The closing date on new construction is always a moving target which frustrates buyers and developers to no end. It's a dance and a nuanced art form. When will the builder get a Certificate of Occupancy? When will the city give final permit sign off? How long does it take to turn on utilities? Will a lender fund without a C of O and without Power on? What if the buyer made custom changes which are delaying the close? What if a fixture is on back order and not delivered at close? Do we leave money in escrow until all items are completed? These are just a few questions you need to ask yourself if you are buying a new home. Both parties have conflicting agendas and it is challendging creating a happy medium that both buyer and seller can live with. It is not easy and it is not a one size fits all solution. Each closing needs to be customized and varies dramatically based on the other terms in the deal and the context of the agreement. I've sold dozens of new homes and each time it is different. | EP 94: Carrie McCormick - Crushing it as One of Chicago's Elite Luxury Real Estate Agents | 12 May 2025 | 00:33:42
Carrie McCormick has been crushing it in the windy city of Chicago for over 20 years selling over $2B of real estate in the City core. Born and raised in Chicago, some would say her route into residential real estate was kismet. One fateful afternoon sitting at her desk at eTrade she decided to leave and take a walk. Her long walk ended as she wandered onto the site of a new building under construction and accidentally met the developer. The developer was impressed by Carrie's insights and straight forward opinions about his project and soon after he offered her a job. Carrie quit her corporate job and jumped headfirst into New Development sales and the rest is history! In this episode she shares her approach "100% Carrie" which is the antithesis of the big team model where the team lead is often out of the picture once the listing is signed. Carrie walks through the roles of her key team members and explains how she is able to be hands on with every client. School is in session. | The Deal With Danny Brown - ULA Mansion Tax Special | 05 Oct 2023 | 00:57:52
In late 2022 Los Angeles Voted in the ULA Mansion Tax to "force millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share" on all real estate transactions over $5M which includes all residential, commercial, retail, industrial, office, land and multifamily real estate. The ULA initiative was sold as a new "Homelessness and Housing Solutions" tax to end homelessness and create affordable housing in Los Angeles. In reality, the ULA initiative was proposed by, among others, labor unions seeking to profit 4% on all sales over $5M and 5.5% on all sales over $10M regardless whether the seller made any net profit on the sale and/or whether the proceeds would be split among several, sometimes 10 - 20 family members, who are middle to low income earners. Instead of these funds being used to for the homeless crisis, the funds will actually be used to provide attorneys for tenants who are not paying rent to fight their landlords regardless whether they are employed and able to afford rent. The limited amount of homeless housing that will be built by the labor unions will cost at least $600,000 per unit which is about double the cost of building the same unit using large, professional building contractors that are non union. The narrative to help the homeless is an emotional trigger for all of us as we all want to help solve this horrendous crisis eating at the core of our beautiful city. Yet the city politics behind the narrative continue to cloud the facts and true intentions of the ULA initiative. All one needs to do is look at the amount of tax payers money collected for homeless and homeless housing and services over the past decade and reconcile that with what we see in our streets and on our sidewalks and parks everyday. Today's conversation is with Keith Fromm the lead attorney from Fight ULA (www.FIGHTULA.com) also known as the Newcastle Lawsuit which is one of the two lawsuits against the city of Los Angeles to overturn this unfair tax. The second lawsuit is led by well known tax payer advocate by Howard Jarvis whose lawsuit hangs on a single argument compared to Fight ULA whose claim has 17 different argument including the Howard Jarvis argument In this informative discussion, Keith and Danny shed light on the ULA landscape and the urgency to get behind FIGHT ULA so that Keith Fromm and his partners have the resources to continue to fight this case. Up to this point, Keith and his partners have taken this case on spec and have not been paid for their time and work. The hearing October 23rd on ULA is only the beginning of the ULA fight as there will be several more rounds of appeals over the next year or two, and if successful eventually a trial that very well could end up in front the Supreme Court of the United States. It is now or never. To learn more about ULA and FIGHT ULA go to www.FightULA.com and/or contact Danny Brown a real estate industry advocate for Fight ULA. http://instagram.com/dannybrownla
