It's September and while prestige TV may still be dropping things of interest, the blockbuster season at the theatre is certainly over, as evidenced by Paul scraping the bottom of the cinematic release barrel to review Afraid for you. It's Blumhouse and horror (supposedly) so Wayne was going nowhere near it - which turns out to be a very smart decision - instead opting to focus his attention on the beginning of the second season of Prime's The Rings of Power (a less smart call).

 

Should you be heading to the cinemas or settling into the couch to watch TV this week? Hell, maybe getting out and going for a walk while listening to this episode is your best bet ... as The Countdown continues ...

Can two characters previously owned by 20th Century Fox resurrect the fortunes of the MCU and add to Disney's coffers? Something a bit different this week as the Paul and Wayne could not find a single thing to review that they could agree on or had time to see.

 

So Wayne graciously gives Paul the mic to talk about an upcoming side project he has been working on. Accepting an invitation from Binge Movies' Jason to join him in celebrating the Slasher sub-genre of horror films, Paul has been watching dozens of slasher films in preparation.   The show will cover the golden era of the Slasher film craze - from 1980 to 1984 - as Jason and Paul take a carefully curated list of Slashers from each year to form their "Blood Pool". From this pool, they'll give several awards each week ... and argue about many of them in the process :D   The show will run for just seven episodes and will commence in mid-September, culminating in the final episode's release in time for Halloween 2023.   If this sound like your thing, keep your eyes peeled as episode number one will be available very soon. Then once you've listened, hit up Paul and Jason with your reviews and feedback!   Stick around at the end of this little interview for a cool trailer for the show that Jason cut together ...

Look, Paul and Wayne are sorry about last week, okay?   It was a bad idea to try and tell jokes over a podcast and you all knew it. (At least, that's what the download numbers are telling us.) The concept episode. Beloved by creators; dreaded by fans. The moment when a TV show decides to do something experimental and not at all in keeping with the norm. It's chance for all those involved with a show to stretch their wings, and maybe set up some back door options for spin-offs.   In a podcast's case, a concept episode usually means the hosts need a break from the norm or want to shake things up a bit. And like the TV shows we would often lament as wasting an episode on these crazy ideas, the podcast concept episode doesn't always work.   With all that in mind, welcome to the Top 10 Funniest Jokes episode of The Countdown! It's short, it's very much not sweet, and it contains some serious dad jokes as well as some objectionable humour.
