The Brassy Broadcast is an exploration of ways we create, engage, and communicate more effectively using the technology, social media, and platforms available to us. We're living through a revolution in how content is created. AI tools can now help with every aspect of content creation - from ideation to research, copywriting, editing, creating graphics, and beyond. These tools can save you hours of work and help you produce more polished content than ever before, but there's a darkside to these magic tools. The more we use them, the higher the risk we run of losing the very thing that makes our content ours - our unique perspective, our authentic voice, our human experience, and our heartbreak. AI can suck the heart and soul right out of our work. I’m on a mission to find that sweet spot where technology enhances rather than replaces our humanity, where we can save time on the mechanical aspects of content creation so we can invest more energy in the parts that truly require our creativity, experience, expertise, and perspective. We are navigating this new world together, along with our guests. I’ll be interviewing business owners and content creators to learn how they are getting the most out of AI without sucking the soul out of their work. We'll learn about the pitfalls and perks of AI use in our business and creative endeavors.

199: How to Use AI in Your Podcast and Speaking Workflow with Carol Cox

Episode 199

vendredi 30 mai 2025Duration 32:11

Where can you use AI to streamline your podcast and content creation, without losing the secret sauce that makes you and your message stand out?

If you’re anything like me, you want deeper connections with clients, not just more “content.” But as AI shakes up our creative world, how can we work smarter with AI, while staying true to ourselves and keeping the heart and humanity in our business?

Carol Cox is a speaker, podcast host, and self-proclaimed AI evangelist. We talk specifically about where AI fits in podcasting and thought leadership for folks like us. Most importantly, you’ll hear how to keep your content truly yours, not just another generic ChatGPT output.

Carol talks tools, workflows, and the voice-cloning experiments she’s using in her business today. You’ll hear what’s working, what feels weird, and where the boundaries are being tested in real time.

198: What is AI Really Costing You When You Hand Over Your Creative Control?

Episode 198

dimanche 11 mai 2025Duration 36:37

What is AI really costing you when you hand over your creative control?

If you’re a solo or small business owner creating content to grow your business, you already know the pressure to keep up. Between SEO demands, audience expectations, and new AI tools promising shortcuts, it’s tempting to hand over control and “let the robot do it.”

But will your audience feel any connection to you when they finally find your content? Or will you sound like everyone else who is letting AI create their content from start to finish?

I’m joined by Emily Gertenbach, a seasoned SEO content strategist who’s been writing human-centered digital content since 2010. She’s worked with clients ranging from local agencies to internationally recognized companies, and she’s here to help us make sense of AI’s role in content creation. Emily brings receipts, nuance, and a bit of tough love as we unpack how AI can help and hurt your brand voice, your SEO, and your connection with your audience.

This isn’t a doom-and-gloom episode about robots ruining your content. It’s a human-first conversation about how to use AI responsibly while keeping your creative voice at the center.

Listen for These Episode Highlights

• What happens when a brand’s copy feels “off”

• Is your AI-written content quietly tanking your Google rankings over time?

• How can you still show up in Google’s top results without gaming the algorithm?

189: Starting a Podcast for Your Business in 2025

Episode 189

vendredi 27 décembre 2024Duration 08:05

Starting a podcast for your business this year?

A big frustration for small business owners after they start a podcast is that they aren’t seeing “results.”  The root is this frustration is caused by a lack of clarity. They didn’t take time in the planning phase to get clear on the purpose of the podcast and how they wanted to use it in their business.

In this episode, I’m walking you through the process of using “The 5 Whys” to help you get clear on your podcasting “why.”

This is a valuable exercise whether you’re just starting your podcast or you’ve been podcasting for a while and you're ready for a refresh.

Get clarity before you do anything.
