For this episode, we watched Oliver! the movie version of the Lionel Bart stage musical directed by Carol Reed, based on Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. The screenplay was by Vernon Harris and it won five Oscars: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Musical Adaptation Score, Best Art Direction and Best Sound. Ron Moody (Fagin) and Jack Wild (Dodger) were both nominated but neither of them won.
