Ellis and Gareth discuss the newest addition to the Jurassic franchise, a butting of heads for Cena and Elba in 'Heads of State' and praise a UK indie film 'The Ballad of Wallis Island'. This week we talkabout lego, spider-people, meatballs and cocaine bears as we rank the Top Ten Lord & Miller projects. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have worked on a hilariously individual collection of standout films as producers, writers and directors, and we've ranked all the films that both of them have been involved in using your sent in lists (thanks by the way) and our compiled top ten's. We also kick the episode off with a draft pick of Batman films and Gwilym makes that tough decision and claims which Spider-Verse film is better.
Did you know a Sasquatch is another name for BigFoot? Ellis just thought it was a fruit, hence the Sasquash in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. What an idiot!

"Oh, don't do this to me. I'm already seeing double."

The end of this episode gets crazy...there are rewatch buttons, potentially completed shelves (but not in the way you'd think) and Gwilym's computer dies. It's all go this week, and another fun episode. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

This week on talkabout we debunk and review another family classic. This time it's the joyfully British, expertly crafted: 'Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit'. Inspired by classic horror films and small village mysteries, it's another difficult film to rip apart as it's so darn good! But we do answer those burning questions. Questions like: Who took all the photos that are hanging on their wall? How is Wallace able to fit a whole cuboid of cheese in his mouth? Why is Gromit still putting up with Wallace? And we absolutely do not answer any questions about the vicar and his fascination with nun wrestling.
We are now produced by Hutch. He's just such a legend that we figured we should probably let him be a part of the podcast and what an addition he's been! He's bought us all slippers, told us which cheese is best (the answer: all cheese) and he's taught us how to pull off knitwear. Thanks to Hutch!

This week one of us missing! In a talkabout first, Gwilym was unable to make this week's episode as he's performing in Cambridge. So at the last minute a second Ellis stepped up to the plate and joined us to discuss the cast of 'Oppenheimer'.
We talkabout Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh and Matt Damon and decide their best performances. As well as discussing the upcoming release and commenting on the actors in general.
This is not to say we favour Oppenheimer over Barbie. What a monumental weekend in film this has been! One that we're sure will bring more strange double bills to the big screen in the future. Let us know below which you've watched first...did you do Barbenheimer, or Oppenbarbie?

This week we talkabout another cult classic, this time with a trip to toon town as we discuss 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'. We talk character details. admire that animation and debunk toon-related injuries. We also conduct a draft pick of Alan Silvestri scores, put four Zemeckis films on a Mt Rushmore and decide how iconic of a villain Christopher Lloyd is as Judge Doom. Enjoy!
Are all toons actors? All of the toons we see are from other films or TV shows and the lore that's established at the start would suggest that they are all actors in toon town. So are they all born into this career without a say? Which begs another question, how are these toons reproducing? Is somebody drawing them life-size to bring them to life or is there something else at play? Hmmmmm...
This week we are taking the podcast to new heights...or new lows depending on how you look at it. With five sauces lined up and basted over some dry veggie pieces, we engaged in a Q & A whilst eating a row of sauces that increase in heat.
This episode goes to disgraceful places we're not proud of. Some disgusting noises are spluttered and many expletives are uttered, and it's safe to say we will never be taking this challenge on again. But for now, we hope you enjoy this very special episode of the podcast where we discuss our favourite and least favourite episodes of the podcast, the moments in our lives that defined who we are, our favourite movie directors and how much longer we intend on making the podcast for, all whilst wanting to rip our tongues out.
We are not sponsored by any of the sauces used in the episode, and although inspired by the popular Youtube show 'Hot Ones', we are only participating in this as a one-off out of love for the show. Enjoy!

We jump into hyperspace and enter a discussion about our favourite and least favourite things about the Sci-Fi genre; deciding what makes a Sci-Fi film a Sci-Fi film, which directors of the genre we'd have on our Mt Rushmore and 5 steps to surviving a Science Fiction movie. Star Wars, Star Trek, Dune, Arrival, Blade Runner, Alien and so much more is discussed.
If you're wearing a red top we'd strongly advise you change into a blue one before listening to this episode. You don't want to be just another victim to a classic cliché.

This week on talkabout we debunk and review another family classic. This time it's the beautifully intricate, Wes Anderson directed, Roald Dahl tale: 'Fantastic Mr Fox'. We struggle to rip this film apart but do our best by asking questions like: do beagles really like blueberries? Are the foxes actually really close to the end of their lives? And why is that random man playing a pumpkin? Plus, we break down the complex game of whack- bat.
We hope you're giving a whistle and a click because this episode is out on time for one, and it's one full of laughs, facts and tails for ties. Enjoy!

This week in our eighth genre concept episode, we are discussing...the war film.
We exit the trenches and enter a discussion about our favourite and least favourite things about the genre; deciding what makes a war film a war film, which directors of the genre we'd have on our Mt Rushmore and 5 steps to surviving a War movie. Saving Private Ryan, Troy, Jojo Rabbit, Full Metal Jacket, Hacksaw Ridge and so much more is discussed.
The general has given his orders...you must listen to episode 139 of talkabout, THAT IS AN ORDER! Enjoy!

This week we talkabout fish men, ghost sightings, labyrinths and wartime allegories as we rank the Top Ten films directed by Guillermo del Toro. With Pinocchio releasing to critical acclaim just before Christmas and then going on to receive the best animated feature at the Oscars, it seemed as good a time as any to discuss the director.
Is he an auteur though? We have a discussion about whether his trusty palette and obsession with monsters makes him one of if he's just very stylised. We also answer the big question...which Guillermo monster could we take on in a fight?
Don't switch off the lights. Don't look in any mirrors. Definitely don't open any old relics. These films are creepier than you'd first anticipate...but oh so good!

This week (for some reason) we dedicate a whole episode to a bunch of genetically enhanced Guinea Pigs in the live action/CGI crossover movie 'G-Force'. We spend a small amount of time talking about the movie, then conduct a draft pick of animal-talking movies, discuss the soundtrack and finish off by looking ahead to our summer season of films. Enjoy!
Surely you bring sequels to this universe and just carry on the alphabet. H-Force with Hamsters, I-Force with Iguanas, J-Force with Jaguars and so on. Travel through the alphabet and increase the stakes with bigger and scarier animals.
This episode is brought to you by cheese graters, Peaches & a pair of Nick's.
This week Ellis & Gwilym talkabout all of the major releases of April 2023, with reviews of Evil Dead Rise, Air, Ghosted, Suzume, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Renfield, The Pope's Exorcist, The Mandalorian, Beef, Peter Pan & Wendy and much more!

It would be great if there was a Mario mushroom for podcast editing. Eat the mushroom and you can register what you're editing at a quicker pace. That way, maybe the wrapped episodes would come out on time...

This week on talkabout we debunk and review another family classic. This time it's the strangely animated take on Little Red Riding Hood: 'Hoodwinked'. Ellis & Gwilym end the pod with a discussion about Star Wars celebration, so make sure to stick around for that.
Join us in solving the Hoodwinked mystery, with an episode full of debunking. Enjoy!

This week on talkabout we discuss comfort movies. Those films that we put on when we're ill, or cosied up on a Sunday afternoon that always hit the spot. Fantastic Mr Fox, Harry Potter, Pixar, When Harry met Sally and more are all discussed; as well as some strange choices in the form of Free Solo and Coraline...
We decide which actors are the most comforting and we talkabout misguiding poster quotes. As well as an impromptu horror discussion that feels very out of place given the subject matter.
According to Ellis there's nothing more comforting than a plain tortilla wrap, whilst Gwilym thinks comfort comes in the form of starvation. It's a chilled episode, so get your jammies on and relax!

The Spider-Verse trailer gets us excited in the news section and Gwilym is furious at the idea of a remake of 'The Room'. Plus, casting updates and that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film...
Editing this over bank holiday weekend has had us feeling like John Wick being attacked by thug upon thug. But we've made it to the top of the staircase and have no intention of falling back down.
Instagram/Twitter/TikTok - @talkabout_pod with thanks to James Milsom for the music and Mim Roberts for the artwork
This week we talkabout BBQ's, bald men, Nos, Coronas and of course FAMILY, as we rank the Top Ten Fast & Furious films. With the release of Fast X quickly approaching, what better time to gather the talkabout FAMILY and discuss all of these overly long and overly boisterous films.
We discuss FAMILY, choose which actor we'd most like to join the FAMILY, count how many times each film says the word FAMILY...honestly at this point why don't they just call them Fast & Family. We also answer the big question...Vin or Dwayne? (but it's not what you think)
Unlike Fast & Furious, we managed to keep this to a tight hour and ten minutes, it'll be over quicker than you can start living your life a quarter mile at a time. Enjoy!
Instagram/Twitter/TikTok - @talkabout_pod with thanks to James Milsom for the music and Mim Roberts for the artwork
This week in our seventh genre concept episode, we are discussing...the fantasy film.

Is Puss in Boots: The Last Wish a western? Ellis thinks yes, Gwilym thinks no. Click play to find out who wins that argument...
This episode was super late...and if it were a cowboy, it would be dead between the jail and the saloon by now, but we hope you think it's worth it. Enjoy!

This week we talkabout a 90's cult classic, as Nicolas Cage and John Travolta face-off in 'Face/Off'. It's an utterly bizarre concept with some wonderfully crazy performances, and we dive into all the weird and the wonderful in this epic action John Woo film. We create a Mt Rushmore of Action movie directors, conduct a draft pick of body swap movies and do more Nicolas Cage impressions than an episode of SNL. Enjoy!
The sequel is much anticipated, and so what would a sequel be called? Do you simply install a backslash and title it 'Face\Off', or do you go with a more on the nose (hehe) 'Face/On'. Maybe the characters 'Face/Off Again' or 'Face/Swap', all we know is there are so many more options than simply 'Face/Off 2'. We'll continue to sit in anticipation.
This week on talkabout we debunk and review another nostalgic family classic: 'Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed'. We ask all. of the questions that need answering: Is Fred the worst member of the Mystery gang? What's the deal with Scooby's Scoobys? And are they only keeping a talking dog around for publicity? This week, in our fifth genre concept episode, we are discussing...Found Footage films.
We dive into a discussion about our favourite and least favourite things about the genre. From Cloverfield to Surf's Up to This is Spinal Tap to Blair Witch...anything we've seen we try ad mention. We begin the episode with a half an hour chat about star ratings and then discuss which directors would be on our found footage Mt Rushmore, talk through any overrated films in the genre and give you 5 steps to survive a found footage film.
We've just uncovered 116 episodes of content to display to the world, but why not start here with the 117th episode of talkabout found footage.

This week on talkabout we discuss Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe now that it has come to an end with the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. We started in the bleaker months of 2021 with WandaVision, and with 16 total releases Phase Four has received a mixed reception.
Wanda & Vision, Falcon & Winter Solider, Shang-Chi & his dad, Peter & MJ, Stephen & Marc, Jennifer Walters & She-Hulk...all assessed and reviewed by Ellis & Gwilym.
Are we gonna talk about the fact there's a big statue man sticking out of the planet because of the Eternals? Surely that's something Doctor Strange would go and check out or that would put the "new superhero team" on the radar for the Avengers, who by the way don't seem to exist! They keep mentioning the Avengers but who's a part of it? We assume Wong and Shang-Chi and Sam Wilson but surely there's more? Give us a small-scale Avengers film you cowards!
