Awakened Living 2027 Course Information20 Sep 202600:30:15

Welcome to Awakened Living 2027. A live, year-long training in Embodied Buddhist Meditation and Psychology for practitioners ready to go beyond an introduction — the four foundations of mindfulness, the four noble truths, the nervous system, and the Brahmavihāras, held for a small cohort across a full year.

Awakened Living is a year-long container for the study and practice of classical Buddhist psychology, taught live, in real time, with a small cohort of no more than twenty-five people. This isn't an introduction to mindfulness — it's for practitioners who already sit, who want the underlying map rather than another technique, and who are ready to commit to twice-weekly live sessions across a full year of training.

The year moves through four sequential trainings, each building on what came before. The Satipaṭṭhāna itself is the practice running underneath three of the four semesters — the Noble Truths and the Brahmavihāras are both studied through it, not alongside it — with the third semester's nervous-system work deliberately set apart. Together they form a complete psychology: how to know the mind, how to work with what's difficult, how the body itself holds and releases what the mind cannot always reach, and how to end in an open heart rather than a private practice.

Mindfulness Based Resilience Training! August 23rd—November 8th, 2026I am delighted to welcome you all into our 12 week deep dive, cultivating mindfulness, kindness, and self compassion with the intention of nourishing our Window of Tolerance.

In addition to my contemplation training, I am also a certified clinical trauma professional, with an emphasis on Somatic Psychology.

Taking In The Good. 10 Jun 202600:24:42

Please enjoy this lovely meditation! Originally designed by Dr. Rick Hanson as a method of balancing out the human negativity bias, this practice guides us into the somatic experience of goodness and invites it to stay. The passing state eventually becomes the permanent trait.

Taking In The Good01 Jun 202600:17:55

Here is a guided meditation based on the pioneering work of Dr. Rick Hanson and Taking In The Good. By contemplating positive affect feeling we cultivate new neurological pathways toward that feeling. We go from practicing feeling good to actually feeling good.

Just Like Me. A Compassionate Journey05 Feb 202600:10:48

I created a video to support those who struggle to connect with others in time of crisis. It is very common for the human nervous system to shut down in the face of crisis. This is a type of freeze response, and while it may feel good to do that for some time, while we are in that state, there are other human beings being made to suffer as a result of their race and/or political ideologies.

May We All Benefit.

Mindfulness of Breathing 1-3 Tetrads04 Feb 202600:38:30

Here I guide us through a practice connecting with non-judgement and care to our body, to the pleasantness of rest, and to different aspects of mind.

Meditation can be challenging at times. Occasionally we may experience things which surprise as a result. If you have any questions or concerns in regards to this, or other meditation practices, please feel free to message me through my website: www.suchsweetthunder.org

I have been practicing meditation for 40 years and have been successfully teaching meditation worldwide since 2009, giving talks, facilitating retreats, and have authored two books. I have received formal training in Theravada, Mahayana (Tibetan, Zen,) and Vedanta meditation techniques as well as Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness, MBSR, Neuroplasticity, Non-Violent Communication, and Buddhist Psychology. I teach from a secular voice and I am passionate about bringing timeless wisdom teachings to people of any faith, belief system, or tradition.
