On today's episode, Jacob runs through a list of whitetail season chores that you may want to take care of in prep for the season as whitetail seasons begin to open across the country this month and next. As you know, when the season opens, you don't want to dedicate any amount of time to activities that could or should have been taken care of during the off season...so now is your chance to take note and get these items done before it's too late. For example, last minute property access and networking, thanking current private access owners, shooting your broadheads, setting up cams on potential feed trees, and other potential chores. | Pennsylvania Woodsman - Timing the Kill: Being Strategic with Your Time | 04 Sep 2024 | 00:55:48
In this episode of the Pennsylvania Woodsman, Mitch is joined by his buddy Cole Seitzinger, who talks about balancing family life with hunting and his transition to hunting with a saddle. The balancing act requires Cole to be specific with his time to allow success; the saddle helps with his time efficiency. The conversation begins with the pros and cons of saddle hunting and the impact of content creation on the hunting experience. From here, Cole breaks down the hunt for his 2023 PA buck.
Cole was able to harvest this buck on the first sit of the year at this property. He had not hunted it for 3 seasons, in fact the previous sit he also arrowed his largest PA buck to date. Cole shares the ins and outs of learning the timing of the properties he hunts, and how he had to make an adjustment after missing the best time at another property. This is part one of two, tune in next week when Cole breaks down his trip to Illinois where he arrowed a bruiser!

| N.F.C. - Taking a Holistic Approach to Habitat Improvement | 02 Aug 2024 | 01:20:23 | |
In this episode of the Nine Finger Chronicles podcast, host Dan Johnson interviews Jon Teater from Whitetail Landscapes about habitat management for hunting properties. They discuss the importance of understanding the complex environment that deer live in and how it affects their behavior. Teater explains that the most common goal for clients is to shoot bigger quality deer, but this goal can be abstract and requires a deep understanding of the deer composition and the specific makeup of a high-quality deer. They also discuss the role of risk and pressure in deer behavior and how to create a habitat that reduces risk and holds deer on the property. Teater emphasizes the importance of good habitat and cover, as well as the balance between food availability and cover value. He also explains how to assess the carrying capacity of a property by measuring the amount of biomass consumed by deer. Jon and Dan discuss the importance of habitat improvement and deer management. They cover topics such as diverse diets for deer, equating the number of deer to be removed from a property, and the impact of deer behavior on habitat management. They also discuss the role of aesthetics in deer management and the need for a holistic approach to habitat improvement. Jon emphasizes the importance of pushing oneself to experience difficulty and learn from different environments. He also provides insights on how to choose a habitat consultant and the key factors to consider.
Takeaways:
Understanding the complex environment that deer live in is crucial for effective habitat management on hunting properties.
The most common goal for clients is to shoot bigger quality deer, but this goal requires a deep understanding of the specific makeup of a high-quality deer.
Creating a habitat that reduces risk and holds deer on the property is key to successful hunting.
Balancing food availability and cover value is important for attracting and holding deer on a property.
Assessing the carrying capacity of a property can be done by measuring the amount of biomass consumed by deer. Diverse diets for deer and understanding the volume of edible biomass are important factors in habitat improvement.
Equating the number of deer to be removed from a property requires considering recruitment, residential and non-residential deer, and the availability of food.
Understanding deer behavior and individual preferences can help in making management decisions.
Aesthetics and creating a good environment for deer are important aspects of habitat management.
Pushing oneself to experience difficulty and learn from different environments can lead to better habitat management practices.
When choosing a habitat consultant, consider their experience in your region, their ability to provide ongoing support, and their approach to habitat management.
Consultants should consider the specific goals and challenges of the property and provide tailored recommendations.
August and September are good times to consult for hunting season preparation and to assess the status of the environment.
Habitat improvement requires a holistic approach and attention to detail.

| How to Hunt Deer - A Habitat Consultant's Take on Public & Private Land | 28 Sep 2023 | 01:00:28 | |
It's no secret. Hunting on relatively lightly pressured, manicured private land is very different than hunting the highly pressured public piece down the road. But is one really better than the other? Both have their advantages and disadvantages, and both can afford you a great time chasing whitetails!
In this episode of the How to Hunt Deer Podcast, Josh talks with Greg Kazmierski of Whitetail Partners about Greg's take on hunting public vs private land. Greg is a Habitat Consultant with Whitetail Partners. As a Habitat Consultant, Greg spends time working with landowners helping them improve their property and their hunting. But each year, Greg stretches his legs for public land whitetails in multiple states. So which is better? In this episode, the guys discuss the strengths and weaknesses of both and how hunting BOTH types can make you a better all around deer hunter. Enjoy!

| Antler Up - Be Prepared, Adapt & Attack w/ Steve Sherk | 27 Sep 2023 | 01:12:47 | |
Hey everyone, welcome to episode 192 of the Antler Up Podcast!
On this week's episode I was joined by PA native Steve Sherk Jr. to kick off the PA state wide opener week! This is the second year in a row that Steve has kicked off the season for us. If you are like me, when Steve speaks you have to listen! He is one of the best out there when it comes to providing helpful information and has year after year success in the PA woods. This was a really fun episode to record because we discussed some plans for this upcoming season, Steve’s ability to adapt to hunting pressure, potential outlook for the 2023 season, timing your hunts and a whole lot more!
We begin this episode by hearing Steve share what he is doing to finalize things for this upcoming season with more prep work with cameras. Steve discusses what hunting means to him and the impact it has made on his life. Following this up Steve has been able to adapt to the hunting pressure. With more great information out there Steve has changed some of his strategies to better his odds on a PA mature buck. With the low kill numbers, mild winter Steve believes in his area this upcoming year can be a good one. We dive into food options, his 3 C’s and his top 3 rules when it comes to hunting those big ole cautious bucks! I greatly appreciate Steve for all that he has done and is doing for the hunting community and can’t wait to see his success and get a chance to catch up with him again! | Wisconsin Sportsman - Elevating Conversations Around Hunting Culture and Conservation | 26 Sep 2023 | 01:36:30
As an outdoorsman, why do you do what you do? Why do you care about the things you care about? Better yet, why should anyone else care about what you care about? Is the outdoor lifestyle, and all its accoutrements, one that's worth preserving, promoting, and even passing on? These questions, at their core, are worth wrestling with, and they inform the conversation on this week's episode of the Wisconsin Sportsman Podcast.
In this episode of the Wisconsin Sportsman Podcast, Josh & Pierce talk with Robert Rosenberger about the intersection between mentorship, hunting, and conservation. Robert, with decades of experience engrossed in Wisconsin's outdoor culture, is a wealth of knowledge, wisdom gained by experience, and to top it all off, he's a salt of the earth kind of guy. This is very likely the richest and most profound episode of the Wisconsin Sportsman so far. We hope you enjoy!

| [UNCENSORED] - The Most Magical Time of the Year | 25 Sep 2023 | 01:05:12 | |
In this week’s [UNCENSORED] podcast by GoWild presented by GunBroker.com, we talk all about the most magical time of the year..hunting season! We open up with Jacob telling us about his first day in the woods which didn’t go exactly as planned. Running late to the woods it seemed like everything was being thrown at him. He tells us about driving through a complete downpour that eased up right as he pulled into the woods, unfortunately it caught up to him and unfortunately ruined the entire hunt so instead he pulled the plug and decided to wait until the next day.
Next up Brayden goes in depth on his saddle setup for this upcoming season. He covers his new pack for carrying in his saddle equipment. He completely changed his setup for this season with a unique way to carry his climbing sticks in so they aren’t constantly in the way which allows him to go in with a smaller pack. He then dives into going over getting his bow back after being completely restrung this summer. He needed to shoot his bow around a hundred times before the final fine tune, can you guys guess how many times he shot it on the first day out? Let’s just say..mistakes were made. The second time out he realized a major difference in his bow that could’ve caused some really serious issues if not fixed before season! Crisis majorly averted.
Dan covers another trip scouting to Land Between the Lakes in Western Kentucky. He saw a good bit of deer sign but not a ton of rubs or scrapes in his first location to scout. The second spot looked a little more promising and he felt very good about it. Natural water sources, and on the edge of an old overgrown field it definitely has all the ingredients needed for a recipe of success.
If you like what you’re hearing, please leave us a rate and review!!
[UNCENSORED] by GoWild kicks off your week with shameful nonsense, inappropriate convictions, and unfiltered tales from the woods, waters and whatevers. [UNCENSORED] is a behind the scenes look at our adventures, failures, wins, embarrassing moments at trade shows, hilarious tales from the warehouse, and a good rant or three about the most recent tyranny from the Dark Lord of the Sith himself.

This week on the Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast we are excited to announce that hunting season is here! John's long time friend Charles Admire joins him on the show to talk about all the fun adventures that await for the fall of 2023. | Huntavore - So you want to process your own animal? | 21 Sep 2023 | 01:04:13
On this episode of Huntavore, Things are down to the wire on opening day for whitetails. Weapons are checked, packs are loaded, and preparations for butchering that animal have been arranged, right? If DIY hunts are your thing, then lets take it to the full circle in bringing the animal to the plate. Nick hopes to challenge and encourage folks looking to process their own deer this year. He answers some questions sent in that would be helpful to anyone taking on one of the most primal, yet intimidating parts of acquiring one's own meat. So rinse off that butcher block, and put an edge back on those knives. We’re talking processing on this episode of Huntavore
Hours of research, digital scouting, and preparations go into a DIY hunt. Going the distance in finding the animal, putting on a stalk and perfectly placed shot is a huge accomplishment. Yet, too many times the final task is dropped off for someone else to do. The most primal, arguably the most intuitive, but understandably the most intimidating part. Processing your own game. Reasons can stack up why our trophy gets dropped off at the butchers. There is no time, I don’t have the equipment, or I don't know how. You can tell me when that buck shows up on a ridge in daylight and what he's eating with a single piece of equipment that costs a couple hundred dollars. You can also tell me you put a 40 yd shot on him with a thousand dollar bow, from a tree stand or saddle more engineered than the original space shuttle. But you also get nervous about a whole leg laying on your table.
Mission here tonight is to encourage some ownership in our harvest, try something we may not have any experience in, and answer some questions about tackling this feat.

| No Lowballers - Putting a Value on Your Gun Collection & How To Win Auctions | 21 Sep 2023 | 00:23:25 | |
In this week’s No Lowballers podcast by GoWild presented by GunBroker.com, we’re talking with our chief Lowballer, Dave Parris from GunBroker.com. Dave gives us the rundown on really cool items that he gets at an absolute steal on GunBroker.com. Dave is an absolute expert on penny auctions and gives a ton of good tips for how you can find really cool, unique items for a solid deal. One of his biggest assets is the watch list feature, a super easy way to make sure you don’t miss out on your auctions ending for the items that you’re interested in. Logan goes into how helpful it is to add alerts for items he’s interested in, so he knows when they get posted on GunBroker.com. A lot of things he’s into are super quirky or really rare items, so rather than checking every single day to see if something has been posted, the alerts are super helpful for letting him know. Allen talks about the sheer amount of items posted daily on GunBroker.com and let us just tell you it’s a lot! Can you guess what milestone was recently met for the amount of items posted on GunBroker.com? He also talks about how you can use GunBroker.com for gauging your collection's value either for insurance purposes or if you may be looking to sell some of your collection. Dave speaks on the easiest way to do this, create a watch list of all your items and that gives you a pretty solid rough estimate of what your collection may be worth! We end the episode talking about an interesting item selling on GunBroker.com lately. What would that be? Commemorative guns! One of those is a set of Colt Snake Eyes from the late eighties that have sold multiple times recently and sold high! Once the first set sold, the market quickly caught on with an auction ending recently with a super low set, number 36!

| Southern Way - Killing Big Bucks Where it's ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE with Swamp N Stomp | 21 Sep 2023 | 01:30:37 | |
When you dream of hunting big bucks, saw grass and palm trees probably don't come to mind. But that's the backdrop for a crew of die hard deer hunters taking big bucks in South Florida known as Swamp N Stomp. As you can see from their videos, hunting South Florida is a challenge unlike anything else a whitetail hunter can do. If the 100° temps don't get you, the alligators, snakes and other critters that would love to eat you just might. But Florida also offers whitetail hunters a ton of great opportunities, like cheap out of state tags, ample public land, liberal bag limits, and the ability to extend your season into July and on into February. If you're up for the challenge and decide to give it a shot, you just might be rewarded with one of the most unique hunts, and some of the best hunting memories, you'll ever make.
In this episode, Mark Barton, Danny Perez, and John Menor from Swamp N Stomp share their different tactics and strategies for getting on deer, and some great bucks, in South Florida. The guys discuss everything from map scouting to the importance of observation sits to making sure you're prepared for all that South Florida hunting may throw at you. Whether you plan on hunting South Florida or not, there's a ton of great takeaways in this episode. Enjoy!

| N.F.C. - Opening Weekend Discussion with Lucas Cayko | 20 Sep 2023 | 01:28:34 | |
On this episode of the Nine Finger Chronicles, Dan is once joined with long time friend Lucas Cayko to discuss North Dakota's archery opening weekend. The guys kick off the episode with a really good BS session where they cover a variety of questions like "What is hunting?", making sure you are up-to-date on all of your rules and regulations, and responding to "hunting is easy" comments.
Every year Lucas and a handful of friends get together to hunt North Dakotas archery opener. This year he already had a couple big bucks already located, but with several other hunters scouting and running trail cameras in the woods the weeks before the season started, the pressure took its toll. But, Lucas and another buddy put in the work and relocated one of the bucks. They both went in to the area where they believed the buck was living, Lucas went one wa, his buddy went the other, and buck showed up... at his friends location. Another really good episode with a true student of the game. Enjoy!

| Pennsylvania Woodsman - Quality Taxidermy w/ Triple Trophy Taxidermy | 20 Sep 2023 | 01:18:52 | |
On this week's episode of the Pennsylvania Woodsman we sit down with Brian Good from Triple Trophy Taxidermy. Brian has pursued this art of taxidermy from a young age and has never ceased learning and honing his craft making trophies come alive (almost). Brian is an avid hunter, and we of course discuss his interest in turkey hunting, hunting with his children, and everyone's favorite, whitetail deer. WIth each of these hunts, there comes a different level of care and preparation if you plan to have them mounted, which Brian breaks down easily for everyone.
Triple Trophy stands for the three big game species here in Pennsylvania - turkey, bear and deer. With each species opening this fall, skinning and handling each properly are vital. Are there additional tools to keep in your kill kit for preparation? How should you handle skinning and field dressing? Should you take measurements for a taxidermist? We cover this and more! Brian provides insight to how he handles certain aspects of his work, which highlights the quality of the product he delivers. This is a major reason why people will travel to take their trophy to him. If you're looking for a quality taxidermist, check out Brian near Ringtown, Pennsylvania!

| Antler Up - Whitetails, the Little Things w/ Joe Miles | 20 Sep 2023 | 01:06:28 | |
Hey everyone, welcome to episode 191 of the Antler Up Podcast!
On this week's episode I was joined by none other than Joe Miles. Joe is the owner of ASIO Gear and resides in South Carolina. Joe also runs the Mission Whitetail Podcast. Whenever Joe is a guest on a podcast, I always seem to pick up a few things and just truly enjoy his philosophy on hunting and more. So, Joe has always been a top guest for me to have on the show and speak with. He didn't disappoint on this one. Coming off an early season successful hunt in his home state of SC, Joe talks about how this hunt worked out. We get into more questions about individual growth, going after mature bucks, hunting stories and more!
We begin this episode by hearing Joe discuss his successful early season hunt and how over the last 30+ years all the aspects of his training & hunting skills played a role in this hunt. We get into the important things we as hunters need to take care of throughout the year, but specifically during the early hunting season. Patience. You will hear Joe say this word and why it is vital to hunting mature bucks. We get into what hunters need to do to take care of the little things and his top rules when chasing mature bucks. We wrap up the episode with Joe discussing a little bit about his company ASIO Gear. I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation with Joe and I hope you all will enjoy it as well! So, tune in and listen to some stories and a fun conversation with Joe! Enjoy this fun episode and see you next week!
Thanks again for all the support and best of luck out there and Antler Up!

| [UNCENSORED] - Snake Bites & Early Season Prep | 18 Sep 2023 | 00:36:27 | |
In this week’s [UNCENSORED] podcast by GoWild presented by GunBroker.com, we talk all about snakes, scouting, and some of the best places to find deer on public land.
We start out the episode talking about snakes, snake bites, and hypotheticals on what the crew would do in a snake bite situation. We’d all like to think we could grab the snake in that situation but really we’d all be high tailing it out of there. We talk about what happens after a snake bite and if all venomous snake bites actually inject venom into you. Brad talks about scouting during peak snake season and being absolutely on high alert the entire time while out in the woods. What do you guys do to make sure you’re avoiding snakes during peak season? Brad also talks about how a rookie mistake scouting using online maps cost him some serious elevated hiking! Quick tip, don’t forget to turn the elevation back onto your maps before you show up to go through the woods!
Next up Derek talks about his recent weekend and preparing for the upcoming hunting season. One last trip out on the boat fishing, now he’s got it put up for winter because his focus is completely shifted to hunting! A trip out scouting has left him with a mysterious bite on his arm, probably a spider, hopefully not a tick because it’s looking a little gnarly.! He does some scouting for the upcoming duck season especially for wood ducks, he spent some time on the WMA checking a few promising looking honey holes. Listen in to see if he found any success scouting!
We close out talking about public hunting. The general consensus is always you have to put in the work and the miles past where anyone else would go to have the best success but we have a conversation on if whitetail sometimes hang out closer to the road or where people walk in at. While there’s tons of success if you put in the extra miles we talk about successand deer signs for the people who decide to hunt closer to the road and how there’s success there.

| Oklahoma Outdoors - How to Kill a Big Buck | 18 Sep 2023 | 00:55:27 | |
Let's cut to the chase. Deer season is already open in some states, and the Oklahoma archery opener is just days away. So why beat around the bush? This week on the Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast John gives his 5 step plan to killing a mature whitetail buck this fall. Over the past 5 seasons, John has hung 10 mature bucks on his wall from three different properties and two different states. Mature doesn't always mean giant, but it doesn't matter if the buck you're after scores 120 inches or 200, if it is a mature whitetail, they are just different.
John starts at the beginning. Sometimes the hardest part about killing a mature buck is just finding a mature buck to chase. As the episode goes on, John dials in his approach including map scouting, trail cameras, weather conditions, and finally that moment of truth. When that buck of your dreams is standing in front of you, will you be ready? In his mind, if you don't go into the woods expecting to kill that buck, there's just no reason to go!

| No Lowballers - Insane History of Han Solo’s Blaster & RoboCop’s Auto 9 | 14 Sep 2023 | 00:30:49 | |
In this week’s No Lowballers podcast by GoWild presented by GunBroker.com, we’re talking all about imaginary pop culture firearms and what real guns they were built from. We open up talking about RoboCop’s Auto 9 and how it’s a fictionalized build of a Beretta 93r, one of Allen’s absolute grail guns. Brad speaks on how the original plan for RoboCop’s firearm was to be a Desert Eagle and just how much that would’ve changed the entire tone of the movie. Do you think the Auto 9 was the right choice or would it have been better if RoboCop used a Desert Eagle?
Next up, Logan rolls us into the world of Star Wars and the amazing pop culture firearms that have come from the movies, but one sits atop them all…Han Solo’s Blaster. Talk about a movie icon, there’s not a much more recognizable movie firearm. Although not real, the DL-44 Blaster has an awesome backstory as an over the top firearm that was not standard issue. The DL-44 Blaster can actually be recreated in the real world with it being a modified Mauser C96.
We circle around to the recent sale price of the real Modified Mauser C96 used by Han Solo in the Star Wars films with an estimated sales price between $300,000-$500,000. Can you guess what the actual sales price was?
Closing out, Allen talks about the model 1917 revolver from the original Raiders of the Lost Ark movie, and what the average starting price for the auction is. Listen in to see where the auction starts!

| How to Hunt Deer - Rethinking Camo and Simplifying Archery w/ Nate Sellers | 14 Sep 2023 | 01:12:44 | |
How much thought have you put into your camo system heading into the season? Sure you've got your treestands dialed in, you know how to get that saddle feeling just right, you've shot your bow and have your pack filled with just the right gadgets. But your camo is some of the most important gear you bring into the woods with you. It's often responsible for you spending more time on stand or heading back to the truck. That means it's often the one thing that had, or didn't have, you in the stand when the buck walked through. So, how much thought have you put into your camo system this year?
In this episode of the How to Hunt Deer Podcast, Josh talks with Nate Sellers of Huntworth and Average Jack Archery about Huntworth's camo lineup and archery gear. Huntworth makes high quality camo as a fraction of the price of some of the big names out there. They've got gear to keep you cool for the early season, warm in the late season, and comfortable all season long. If you haven't already, you should check them out!

| Antler Up - Kicking Off the 2023 Season | 13 Sep 2023 | 00:52:14 | |
Hey everyone, welcome to episode 190 of the Antler Up Podcast!
On this week's episode I was joined by my great friend Jim D’Agostino! You should know Jim if you have listened to the podcast over the years and if you’re new to the show then buckle up because he is one of a kind. A great human, friend, archer and hunter. Jim over the last couple of years has helped me tremendously with my shooting. We wanted to have an episode before the season kicks off state wide here in PA. Jim will be embarking on the opener this weekend for the 5C unit here in PA. This is a discussion we get into and a whole lot more! It is always a great time when I get a chance to record with one of my great friends!
We begin this episode by hearing Jim discuss what is new in his world and how he is really excited for this upcoming season. To start out with he will be hunting the early aspect of the PA season in 5C. He gained access to a new private area and was able to get eyes on a few really good deer. We chat about some other areas that he worked on to be better for this year and discussed his 3D season where Jim was able to one and be on the podium for a few others. We just had a real good BS session that I hope you all will enjoy as well! So, tune in and listen to some stories and a fun conversation with Jim! Enjoy this fun episode and see you next week!
Thanks again for all the support and best of luck out there and Antler Up!
