Summerween anyone? Yes, it's a horror movie review in July, and what a delight it is to get Sophie's thoughts on Paul's favourite movie of 2024, The Substance - starring Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid.

As the month of 'Ani-May' draws to a close. we asked the Patreons to pick from two Mamoru Hosoda movies, and this one won by a landslide (although it is only technically two-thirds a Hosada film...) Paul, as you may know, is a big fan of Pokémon - and Digimon is another favourite monster franchise he grew up with and still embraces to this day. A light-hearted review of our first anime review of the year! As big fans of Japanimation and film-within-film storylines, we went along to our local cinema to check out Pompo the Cinéphile for its limited screening run (evident in the pre-ramble section).  How well does the animation fare against Ghibli or Makoto Shinkai movies? Is the film within the film long enough to match the movie length? Is editing film footage meant to seem this cool??
