PWCC Getting Kicked off eBay

Earlier this week, many of us got that email from eBay saying that they were cutting ties with the biggest sports card seller on the playform.

Sports Card Daily: Reports: Fanatics in Deals to Take Over Trading Card Licenses in Multiple Sports

This news kinda broke in parts.

First the Topps baseball part came out and that was huge.

Baseball Collector (Mike from Breaker Culture):

Then, a few hours later, the it came out Fanatics are also in conversations with NBA and NFL about their rights too.

Massive.

This is still five years away though, and as it seemed to come out of left field, there’s still a lot of time for this to play out.

I have my views on this, but as far as sharing them - I’ll wait until there’s a bit more solid news and less doomsday prepping.

2009/10 Panini Foot Belgium #23

This card from the 2009/10 season is incredibly hard to come across. Which, when you think about it, makes a lot of sense.

* The set was only released in Belgium

* Soccer stickers weren’t a massive deal in 2009 so people didn’t put them away to keep

* Regular hurdles with stickers, like people sticking them into collector books

At the time of writing, there was only one of these stickers graded. That should rise as soccer stickers get more popular, but the number won’t explode overnight. 

If you can get your hands on this sticker though, it’s a great find.

Really excited to have Brendan from QCB Soccer Cards on the pod today.

Personally, I’ve been a huge fan of TIFO for many years, and I think you can definitely see their work as an influence in what I try to do.

Alex and I have a great chat about a range of topics:

* How TIFO started, and his background in creating videos/podcasts.

* A massive deep-dive on scouting. We go over the process that Alex uses when creating the ‘sensible transfers’ video series. This process will 100% translate into prospecting for cards.

* How to watch soccer on TV. It sound dumb, but there’s actually a bit of a science to watching a soccer match on TV if you’re looking at watching a player (or a team), then this is really valuable info.

Alex is a great dude, and a wealth of knowledge about the sport.

While we don’t specifically mention cards here, there’s plenty of ideas that you can translate directly into the hobby.

In fact, that’s why I love having guests like Alex on the show - you can pick up skills and strategies from other areas that you can use in the hobby.

John Nellis hosts the Football Index podcast, a Fantasy Premier League Pod… but most of all, he’s a ripping bloke.
