So who's going to make the semi-finals of the O60s 1st XI comps? Lots of places across the Cup, Vase and Bowl still to play for in next week's final round of phase 2 matches. 

In the O60s 2nd XI phase 2 it was  round 4 of 5 this week in the Cup, Vase and Bowl groups and again lots of places up for grabs in the semis going in to next week's final phase 2 matches.

O60s Div 3 Cup and Vase quarter finals start next week.

O60s Div 4 has a three more rounds to go with the league positions to decide the winners.

In the O70s Div 1 this week it was the quarter finals of the Cup, Vase and Bowl with the top match in the Cup being the repeat of last year's final where Gloucestershire beat Surrey. Not this time though with Surrey winning so the holders are out. 

In the O70s Div 2 the league structure continues for three more weeks.

Richard Merriman is back on the show – in this episode the England O60s captain looks ahead to the five match ODI series versus Pakistan

This series will be a big challenge for Richard and his team as they come up against opposition containing former international and first-class players led by Saleem Malik who played 386 international matches, including 103 Test matches, for Pakistan

Pakistan were the inaugural winners of the O60s World Cup in 2022 but unfortunately visa issues meant they couldn’t defend the trophy earlier this year when Australia beat England in the final

We talk with Richard about the make up of the squad, what he was looking for from new players and if you haven’t made the squad what you continue to need to do to get on the radar

Lots of matches and lots of runs this week

We review the matches played across the various O60s and O70 divisions on June 25th and 27th.

It's replay week on July 2nd in the O60s Div 1 - can Surrey make the top 2 or will their defence of the title end here? They've got no game on replay week so will be relying on others. 

Wales smash 409/5 in O60s div 1 - highest of the season so far we think. Anyone know the all time record team score in 60s/70s? We also noted in the pro game Louis Kimber taking 43 off an Ollie Robinson over - anyone know the most runs scored in an over in the O60s and O70s comps? 

Chris Lailey of Gloucs made 192 not out in 60s Div 1 - highest individual score we think this year and Michael Shelvey took 6 for 6 - the last 6 to fall as he was 5th bowler - for Kent v Herts in O60s Div 4 - we think the first 6 wicket haul of the season.

With Trevor away last week this bumper episode of the Silver Stumps podcast features matches from w/c June 3rd and w/c June 10th across the various O60s and O70 divisions.

We do a fairly rapid walk-through of what’s happened picking out some individual and team highlights and we cover the one sided England v Wales O60s international played on June 12th. Scorecard here  

In the previous episode we mentioned Stephen 'Ned' Kelly who has now reached 150 matches. We had great responses from others who have played considerably more matches across the 50s/60s/70s.

Bill Munday got in touch and he reckons he’s played 263 matches and is still playing twice a week for Berkshire in the 60s and 70s competitions as he approaches 77.

Richard Owen was part of the Derbyshire O50s team that won the ECB competition in 2009, 2011 and 2012 and including 12 games he played for England he is at 244 matches.

But then up popped Joe Perry from Norfolk who provided a list of 12 players who have played 150 games or more for Norfolk topped out by Martin Pearse with 387 matches.

If you know people in your county who played 200+ games then let us know and we will give them a shout out.

We are also keen to find out whether the 19 sixes that Devon O60s 1st XI plundered against Wiltshire is a competition record and indeed whether the 13 struck by Steve Luffman is an individual record.

We mention Oxfordshire's Stephen 'Ned' Kelly who is approaching 150 matches which made us wonder who out there has played more O50s, O60s and O70s  matches combined so if that is you or one of your teammates please do drop us some details to [email protected]

Grant has tracked down Jeff Baxter who we think might be one of the more elderly players competing in the County championship game so we're keen to know who the oldest player is who is currently playing regularly in the O70s competition. Again email us [email protected] if you are aware of someone who is potentially that cricketer.

We also reveal the big news about the latest signing for Lancashire O70s – someone we hope to have as a guest on this podcast at some point.

We cover the England O60s versus Scotland District Forty Club matches. The first match on Thursday 30th was cancelled but the second match at Hartlepool CC went ahead on Friday 31st with Cheshire's Paul Radage catching the eye with 81 from 67 balls at the top of the order along with yet another 100 from Montie Douglas.
