How Lifestyle Holds The Key To Managing & Even Overcoming Chronic Health Conditions including Cancer with Jacqui Jooste, Clinical Pharmacist & Clinical Health Coach

mardi 11 novembre 2025Duration 33:12

Send us Fan Mail

As a continuation of our health campaign focussing on the topic of cancer, we spoke to Jacqui Jooste, a Clinical Pharmacist & Clinical Health Coach located in Welwyn, Hertfordshire.

In this podcast, Jacqui talks about how she supports people who have been diagnosed with cancer or are in remission.

A cancer survivor herself, Jacqui understands the complexities of this journey. Drawing on her own scientific knowledge as well as her own healing and recovery, Jacqui shares her top tips for how to remain as optimal as possible to both fight the disease and also support remission.

Jacqui focusses heavily on diet and lifestyle from a scientific perspective as a means to help her patients manage and even overcome a wide range of health issues including cancer, diabetes, gut issues and other chronic conditions.

Said Jacqui, “Through my own diagnosis, I went through the process of falling apart and then taking back my health. What I realised through this journey are our bodies are hardwired to keep us alive. It has an army of defences but we have to give it the ammunition, ie eating well, managing stress, doing that exercise.

”During my time in the NHS, I met lots of patients who needed more holistic support with cancer in day-to-day life. Coming from a science background, my research is evidence based. We journey down where that person’s high risk came from.

“If we start to unpack what happens in the body, looking at the whole of the body’s systems and how it can regenerate healthy cells, we can improve outcomes. My job is to bring this information to the patient.”

Jacqui is set to launch a new series on Instagram called “Did You Know” to help people learn more about ways to be healthy.

Jacqui is about to launch a book and also a series of webinars called "Did You Know". For more info about Jacqui and her work, see below.

Presented by Magalie Valadier from Seed Wellness

Here, Magalie shares the mic with Lucy Blunden, Western Medical Herbalist and EFT practitioner.

When Lucy was 17 years old and training to be a musician, she started to experience chronic back pain.

Said Lucy, "My GP said that if i wanted to be a musician i should expect to be in pain and take Ibuprofen three times a day. Being told I would have to accept being in pain for the rest of my life wasn’t really the way forward for me. So, I started to investigate as many things as I could for myself."

It was on this journey that Lucy discovered the healing power of plants and how they could be used as medicine. Said Lucy, "I discovered that things i knew of as weeds and as a student, things i had in my kitchen cupboard could be considered medicines.  From that moment, I just fell in love with it."

How Can Osteopathy Help People With Chronic Pain? With Paul Mitterhuber

mardi 8 juillet 2025Duration 30:08

Send us Fan Mail

Experiencing occasional aches and pains is a fact of life. But what happens when we start to experience pain on a daily basis? And how can osteopathy help?

According to a review published in the British Medical Journal, nearly half of the UK adult population is living with chronic pain, with up to 28 million people experiencing pain that lasts for more than three months.

The most common causes of chronic pain include headache, lower back pain, arthritic pain and pain from disease. There is also unexplained pain, where a medical professional has been unable to get to the root of what is causing it. And while it may not be life-threatening, chronic pain can have a major impact on mental wellbeing and quality of life. It can be truly debilitating, turning small every-day tasks into painful challenges.

We know that painkillers are the first line medical response to managing pain. But what happens if you don’t want to take a drug every day? What else can you do to manage and even alleviate pain?

Today we are delighted to share the mic with highly experienced Osteopath Paul Mitterhuber, founder of the Chiltern Ostoepathic Clinic in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, who shares his knowledge and experience working with thousands of patients over 30 years to help them find a way out of pain.

For more info visit www.seedwellness.co.uk/paulmitterhuber

Paul is Regional Communication Coordinator for the General Osteopathic Council representing Buckinghamshire as well as a member of the Institute of Osteopathy. He is also the organiser for the local South Buckinghamshire Osteopathic Group, and a member of BBENSCH Post Graduate Society for Osteopaths.
