| 81: What's the Deal With Seed Oils and Fats 101 | 10 Apr 2025 | 00:13:36 | |
Lately it seems like everyone is talking about seed oils and how terrible they are. Listen in as I share my take on it all after digging into the relevant research. Further, fat can be a confusing topic - what's good, what's bad and what type of fat is best? This short episode will tell you everything you really need to know to take the next step to optimize your health. My husband and I loved how the Holistic Holiday at Sea cruise taught us so much and left us feeling inspired to do better! But finding the the time and resources to make this happen was no walk in the park and simply not a reality for many of us in the thick of life! A great alternative is the Food Revolution Summit coming up the last week of April. Many nutrition experts from different fields will share their research and answer common questions. The first summit I watched 9 years ago was so inspiring and motivating for me to make lasting and powerful changes. You can catch all the talks for free for a limited time, or you can purchase them to watch later at your convenience. Owning the summit can be a great way to plan your own Holistic Holiday wherever you choose, and set aside the time to immerse yourself in this life-changing information. I loved doing this with a parenting course I was unable to attend in person. For a fraction of the time and money, my husband and I were able to soak up the information we needed and begin using it much sooner than had we waited until we could do the in person option.

More and more evidence is emerging on the link between our food choices and our mental health. While mental health is a complex multifaceted issue, many people are finding that the foundation of good nutrition is far more effective than medication and other approaches they have tried. Having struggled with major depressive episodes for more than a decade Danae Dayley and her family decided to try 10 days on a whole food plant-based diet. By day five she still loved meat, but knew she wasn't going back. She's doing great without antidepressants and enjoying a long list of other benefits as well. | 53. Healing with Herbs with Herbalist Jordan Gundersen | 03 Feb 2022 | 00:33:18
Most grocery store remedies provide temporary symptom relief but rarely do much to get at the root of the issue. I love discovering a variety of ways to get at the root of the problem, and herbal remedies are a great way to do that. When we start turning to other options, it can feel overwhelming to know who and what to trust, what's safe, effective and worth your time and money. I invited herbalist Jordan Gundersen to come on the podcast and teach us about where we can begin to use herbs as part of our healing journey both safely and effectively. Jordan compares using herbs for healing as similar to replacing whole plant foods for processed ones--when we use the herb we are getting the whole plant and all of its phytochemicals to work in concert rather than extracting a few chemicals as is often the case with both processed foods and pharmaceuticals. As always this is intended for informational purposes and is not intended to replace medical advice. As you'll hear, some herbs can react negatively with prescription drugs and so you would definitely want to work with a qualified medical professional to make adjustments in that area. But I hope this gives you a good overview and understanding of how we can learn about and start to experience the benefits of herbs. He told her we eat mostly plants and she shared she was working on eating plant-based too. He was so excited to have a fellow plant-eater and that she wanted to know more about what he was doing. | 32. Overcoming PCOS and Infertility with Faith Ralphs [Encore] | 22 Jul 2021 | 00:23:46
Have you ever felt confused when trying to find information about a certain health condition? Doctor's visits are often brief, and information available online and in other places can be contradictory and confusing. We experienced this big time in 2015 when we began seeing specialists in an effort to resolve digestive issues my husband had dealt with for years. Almost without fail, the information available on the internet and the very little dietary advice we received from the specialists pointed to a diet that emphasized meat and eggs and minimized or completely avoided grains and legumes. However there is a growing mountain of scientific research to support the power of plants for nearly every health concern, including infertility. Today's guest, Faith Ralphs, was struggling to have children and diagnosed with PCOS. The information she found didn't feel right to her, but when she sought and followed divine inspiration she no longer has any symptoms of PCOS and now has two beautiful healthy children. The real beauty of her story is that there is plenty of science to back up her experience, but it still may not be the first thing that comes up in your google search, which we will share as well.
