Last we left off, Team 7 and Kabuto found themselves trapped in a genjutsu. The casters reveal themselves to be part of Rain village and they do battle to fight each other's scroll so they may advance to the next phase of the exam.

Team 7 and Kabuto ultimately come out on top and they enter the tower to qualify for phase 3. But, because so many genin made it to the tower, preliminary matches have to be held to narrow down the pool of participants to include only the very best.

And so it begins, the first 2 matches are Sasuke vs Hiroi and Shino vs Zaku. Both matches are filled to the brim with intrigue and it begins a phase in the show where it begins to build the many characters in the series, giving the show life.

The Kings have had a rough stretch between the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League. They failed to win the Mitch Richmond trophy and then got blasted by the Grizzlies in their opening game in Summer League. Do any of these things matter in the long run, who knows? But they've been a tough watch these last few games. But so is NBA basketball in the summer.

Meanwhile, Team USA had a good showing. Despite getting off to a slow start against Canada, they absolutely overwhelmed their opponents once they got going and showed that if they play to their capabilities, no team will be able to match them.

In a rather shocking move, Jalen Brunson signs a 4 year $156.5 million extension with the Knicks. This is shocking because he could've have waited until next season for a much bigger payday. Owen and Fong discuss the effects this could have and what it means for the Knicks and the NBA as a whole.

The Kings came home to the Sacramento and welcomed the Warrior to the G1C for their 1st home game of the season. And ... they were treated to another brilliant performance by Steph Curry who dropped 41 on their head, and beating the Kings 122-114. While many will point to the Kings defense being the main culprit of this, and make no mistake, it wasn't good by any means, it was their offense that abandoned them in the 3rd quarter that allowed the Warriors to blow the game open.

The Kings just kept missing shots and the Warriors looked like they couldn't miss. The Kings made a late surge in the latter half of the 4th quarter but had their hopes crushed by none other than Steph.

The Kings have a lot to figure out, and while it's unfortunate that the Kings will not be going 82-0 this season, they have a good foundation to build on and they can only get better from here.

The Kings start off the season strong by beating the Jazz pretty handily in Utah. The King's offense ran at a breakneck speed, combined with their physicality on defense seemingly took the Jazz by surprise. The Kings led pretty much all game as the Jazz couldn't keep up with Kings on offense nor could they match their intensity on defense.

The Kings came in ready to roll, the Jazz were not, plain and simple.

Harrison Barnes was the MVP of the game with 27 points in the 1st half with 10-11 FG and 5-5 from 3. He gave the Kings a cushion which they would never relinquish.

The Kings will now return to Sacramento to face the team that knocked them out of the playoffs in Game 7 in the G1C. Should be a fun one.

The Kings played 2 thrillers in their back to back games against the Warriors and Jazz. Well, as thrilling as you can get in a preseason game. Both games came down to the wire, with the Kings losing to a Steph Curry game winning 3, and then pulling out a tight one against the Jazz with much of their starting lineup out.

The Kings end the preseason 1-4, not great by any means, but are there things we should be concerned about? Maybe. Even with a decent sample size, we've just come to the conclusion that we just don't know how the Kings will play until the regular season, and that's ok.

Good news: the regular season will be upon us shortly and we can actually have legitimate things to be thrilled about and be sad about!

The Kings can't seem to buy a win in the preseason, so here comes the obligatory question: Is this a cause for concern for the Kings in the regular season? And still the answer is maybe, maybe not. There are definitely unsettling things to take away from this game but also some silver linings. The Kings still have 2 more preseason games left, let's see if they can pick up a win before the start of the regular season.

In NFL news, the Niners lose their first game of the season by falling to the Cleveland Browns. The Niners unfortunately picked up a few injuries in the game but hopefully they're not long term injuries that will plague the team down the line.

The Kings returned to the states to take on the Lakers in Anaheim on Wednesday night in another losing effort. Similar issues plagued the Kings this game, poor defense and not being able to make shots. An interesting strategy if you wanna win games. Is this just the malaise that comes with getting back into game shape or are these a precursor to more serious issues down the line?

Time will tell if the Kings are be able to improve enough on both sides of the ball before the start of the regular season.

Well, the Kings finally play basketball again as they take on the Toronto Raptors in Vancouver. It started out beautifully for the Kings, they were playing the physical defense Mike Brown kept raving about on media day, and their historically great offense looked even better with a few wrinkles added in. Then the Kings started missing shots and their defense fell apart and the Raptors blew the game open and never relinquished control of the game.

It wasn't the result some Kings fan would've liked, but this is preseason basketball and it's only a glimpse of what the Kings can be. The Kings did show some great flashes of what they could be, and showed so things that may be concerning down the line. Ultimately, it's the first game of preseason and even then there needs to be a bigger sample before we can determine what the Kings will be.

On the Football side, the 49ers absolutely laid the smackdown on the Dallas Cowboys on route to becoming 5-0 on the season. Brock Purdy is proving himself to be a top quarterback and the Niners look they're going to be Super Bowl bound come February.

Well, the domino finally fell, Dame Lillard is no longer on the Blazers and will be heading to Milwaukee to join Giannis Antetokounmpo on the Bucks. The Bucks give up Jrue Holiday, Toumani Camara, a pick and 2 swaps to the Blazers. Meanwhile, the Suns send Deandre Ayton to the Blazers and receive Jusuf Nurkic, Nassir Little, Keon Johnson and Grayson Allen from the Bucks and Blazers.

It's an interesting trade to say the least, one that felt like came out of nowhere. It will have wide ranging ramification all across the league and it is a great way to end the offseason and prime us for the start of training camp. Games are just around the corner!

Team USA fell to Germany and Canada in back to back games with style. Both games came down to wire, but the US were out-executed in both of them and so they go home without any medals in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

But fear not, Lebron James is preparing to assemble the NBA Avengers squad of him, Steph, Draymond, AD and Tatum for the 2024 Olympics with others such as DeAaron Fox and Devin Booker expressing serious interest in joining the fold. Will this team be able to do what this year's team wasn't? We'll have to see next year.

In this edition of King's Flashback, we go back to December of 2015, where the Kings welcomed the Knicks into the Sleep Train Arena for their lone national TV game on TNT that season. This was George Karl's only full season with the Kings and it was a tumultuous time for the Kings behind the scenes. It was also prime DeMarcus Cousins who wreaked havoc on the court and behind the scenes.

The Kings beat the Bucks in what will be presumably their final Summer League game. It was a chaotic game to say the least, the Kings jumped out to a huge lead by shooting the lights out from 3 in the first half. But they let Bucks back into the game by turning the ball over in the most silly ways. Ultimately, they were able to close them out and win going away but they made it way harder than it ever needed to be. Jalen Slawson, Souley Boum and Alex O'Connell showed out while getting solid contributions from the rest of the team. Outside of the turnovers, the Kings really played a complete game.

The details of the contract Sasha Vezenkov have been revealed by Michael Scotto of Hoophype. The 3 year contract include full guarantees for the 1st two years and a team option for the 3rd.

The Kings get back in the win column at Summer League by decisively beating the Wolves. The Kings got solid games from the usual suspects, Jordan Ford, Kessler Edwards and Keon Ellis, but they were also aided by surprise showings from Alex O'Connell and Chance Comanche. The Kings will play the Bucks on Saturday in what could be their final Summer League game this year.

Marc Stein reported the availability of Pascal Siakam has changed and the Raptors are now more open to trading him. Could he be moved soon? And would that cause a cascading effect that could affect the Damian Lillard and Jame Harden trades?

The Kings lose 2 tough back to back games against the Clippers and Bulls. In the first game against the Clippers, the Kings had an ugly stretch in the 2nd quarter in which their offense abandoned them and they could not buy a bucket for over 5 minutes of game time. That stretch would doom them and that was where the game was lost. In the 2nd game, their offense was on point, shooting 51% FG, 46% from 3 and 82% from the FT line. But their defense wasn't there even though the effort was, as the Bulls shot lights out as well to match the King's ridiculous shooting and then some.

The Kings will face the Wolves on Thursday for what will likely be their final Summer League game as they are unlikely to make the playoffs in the Summer League.

The NBA has now officially announced the Mid-Season tournament and it's ... a lot. The Kings will be in Group C of the Western Conference along with Spurs, Warriors, Wolves, and Thunder. The rest of the tournament will ... be figured out as we go along because there's way too much explain and things will likely make more sense once it begins.

The Kings win their 1st Summer League game against the Hawks in Las Vegas. It was a rough game where neither team could put the ball in the bucket, but the Kings got big performances from Jordan Ford and Neemias Queta as well as timely shots from the rest of the team to pull this one out. We don't hear this often but the King's defense really smothered the Hawks and it paid off in crunch time. The Kings will now have 2 days off before they face the Clippers on Monday.

The much anticipated Victor Wembanyama debut unfortunately didn't live up to the hype. While he was very good on the defensive end, his offense as it stands currently needs a lot of work before he is the destroyer of worlds that he's been hailed as.

The 2023 California Classic just finished, and it provided a little bit of an appetizer for the main course that will be Summer League in the coming days. Kings fans got to see Colby Jones and Jalen Slawson for the first time, and they got to also see familiar faces such as Neemias Queta and Keon Ellis return and show their improvement. But Keegan Murray rightfully stole the show, dominating the game whilst clearly being the best player on the floor. The Kings now head to Las Vegas for Summer League but will do so without Murray and the newly signed Sasha Vezenkov. But the Kings have plenty of intriguing prospects and firepower to be able to compete out in the desert.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks have acquired Grant Williams and take another free agent off the table for the Kings to make a run at. It remains to be seen if Monte and Kings have another move left in their sleeve.

On a jammed packed opening few days of free agency, the Kings maintained and improved the roster with plenty of under the radar savvy moves. They acquired Chris Duarte, re-signed Trey Lyles, Alex Len and Domontas Sabonis, and successfully brought over Sasha Vezenkov from Greece to join the Kings this upcoming season. None of these moves are flashy by any means, but they definitely improved upon the roster they had even though many fans wished they made more flashy moves.

That being said, the rest of the league went bonkers with signings and extensions. The money that was spent for some players made plenty of jaws drop, or throw up.

We then pivot to the controversial ESPN layoffs and then end by talking about Money in the Bank which happened on Saturday, and man, it's was a great show.

Well, the 2023 NBA draft came and went. And stuff happened, boy did stuff happen. The Kings decided to trade their first round pick Olivier Maxence-Prosper along with Richaun Holmes to the Dallas Mavericks to open up cap space. They did draft Colby Jones and Jalen Slawson in the 2nd round, both look to be ready made contributors and could likely find their way into the Kings rotation during the season.

In other Kings related news, Lindsey Harding will become the Stockton Kings head coach this upcoming season and Anjali Ranadive will become the Stockton Kings General Manager, making them the first female Head Coach and GM tandem in the G-League.

The NBA draft is 3 days away and Owen and Fong go through all the draft prospects they did and pick out their favorites as well as who they think the Kings will pick on Thursday.

They also go over the blockbuster deal of Bradley Beal being traded to the Suns, ending the Beal-Wizards era in Washington with a wet fart.

In what will be the final draft episode for 2023, Owen and Fong go over Tristan Vukcevic, Jett Howard and Jaime Jacques Jr. In a contrast to last episode, all 3 players here are incredibly dynamic offense players with varying levels of defensive questions marks. Kings will have to take a gamble if they pick one of these guys that their offensive capabilities can overcome their defensive deficiencies.

In what has been a fruitful few days for Kings news, they got a new beam that will shine brighter. And they have entered the chat on the Bradley Beal and OG Anunoby sweepstakes. The Kings look to be big game hunting in the offseason and if they pull the trigger on a big trade, it very well can take the Kings to the next level.

Meanwhile, the Nuggets close out the Heat in game 5 at home to win their first ever NBA Championship. The Nugget were a dominant force in this years playoffs, finishing 12-4, and it's just the start to what will be a juggernaut in the NBA for years to come.

And to close out, Owen and Fong talk about the possibility of Zion being on the move with the rumors of the Pelicans wanting to move up in the draft to get Scoot Henderson. Also, shoutout to the Oakland A's fans that showed up to the reverse boycott game, you deserve better than John Fischer.

In this draft episode, we'll be going through 3 defensive minded prospects, all with intriguing offensive upside. They are Bilal Coulibaly from the Metropolitans 92s, Olivier-Maxence Prosper from Marquette and Bobi Klintman from Wake Forest. All 3 will likely provide much needed defense for the Kings with the potential to also produce on the offensive end.

After that, we go over the sprinkling of Kings news this weekend, with Jordi Fernandez staying with Kings after the Raptors hired Grizzlies assistant Darko Rajakovic to be their next head coach. And Bobby Jackson will be going to Philly to become an assistant coach under their new head coach Nick Nurse.

We then end with going over our thoughts on Game 4 of the Finals, where the Nuggets were once again able to outplay the Heat to go up 3-1. The Nuggets are 1 win away from the title and have the Heat back up against the wall. Will Miami be able to respond or will Denver finish the job at home on Monday?

In this draft episode, we go through 3 more prospects, 2 defensive minded players with crazy wingspans in Miller and Rupert, and a sharp shooting shot creator in Dariq Whitehead. All 3 players fill a need on the King's roster and they would be big swings that could change the King's fortune if things go right.

We then go through Games 2 & 3 of the NBA Finals between the Nuggets and the Heat. The Heat took game 2 in a gutsy win where they fell down 15 in the 2nd quarter before storming in the 4th quarter to win the game. And the Nugget strike back in game 3 behind the brilliance of Jokic and Murray. This is shaping up to be a really interesting series that go either way.

In this episode of Sac Kings Therapy 2023 Draft scouting report, we have 3 youngsters in Brice Sensabaugh, GG Jackson and Emoni Bates. All 3 are incredibly dynamic scorers with huge questions on other the other aspects of the game. Owen and Fong try to analyze their games and whether or not their offensive games are good enough to overcome their shortcomings to justify taking one of them with the 24th pick.

After going through the 3 draft candidates, we talk about the Pistons throwing the bag at Monty Williams to become their head coach. We then recap what we saw from Game 1 of the 2023 NBA Finals and whether the Heat can bounce back or is this going to be what the series is going to look the entire way with Denver dominating throughout.

It's been a wild weekend in the basketball as well as the wrestling world. Starting with the Heat advancing to the NBA Finals to match up with the Nuggets after an insane end to game 6 and an anti-climatic game 7 where the Heat dominated the Celtics to win the series.

In other news, the dominoes for the vacant coaching positions are falling into place as Nick Nurse goes to Philly, and Adrian Griffin taking the Buck's job. Meanwhile, Jordi Fernandez has emerged as a possible favorite to become the Raptor's head coaching job. On the West Coast, Bob Myers is stepping down as the General Manager of the Golden State Warriors, sending shockwaves through that organization and the NBA world.

And to close out the episode, Owen and Fong recap the crazy weekend of wrestling by talking about WWE's Night of Champions show in Saudi Arabia and AEW's Double or Nothing show in Las Vegas.

In the 2nd episode of the 2023 Sac Kings Therapy Draft scouting reports, we bring to you Maxwell Lewis from Pepperdine, Noah Clownley from Alambama and Sidy Cissoko from the G-League Ignite. All 3 players are in the mold of versatile wings/forwards that have a lot of potential and can be big contributors for the Kings down the line. Owen and Fong go through them and give their thoughts.

We then talk about Sasha Vezenkov and the Olympiacos losing to Real Madrid in the final seconds of the Euroleague Finals. Sasha played well but their late game execution and going away from Sasha in crunch time came to bite them.

We also talk about Jordi Fernandez moving the final round of interviews for the vacant Phoenix Suns Head Coach position, and end with the talk about the conference finals. Lebron left it all out on the floor but he was unable to overcome the juggernaut that was the Nuggets. On the other coast, the Celtics have won the last 2 on the back of their revitalized 3-point shooting and have now put the series in a very interesting spot where it can really go either way.

For the 300th episode of Sac Kings Therapy, we're gonna start our draft coverage for the 2023 NBA Draft, with a little more than a month away.

In the inaugural 2023 episode, we start by analyzing Kris Murray from Iowa, Kobe Bufkin from Michigan and Colby Jones from Xavier. All 3 bring unique skillsets that can benefit the Kings this upcoming season and Owen and Fong go through them.

We also discuss the Spurs winning the Lottery and getting the 1st pick in this year's NBA draft which they are presumably gonna to use to draft French phenom Victor Wembanyama.

With little to no news regarding the Kings lately, Owen and Fong decide to go over some tape of Sasha Vezenkov and how he would fit on the Kings. Spoiler alert: he would fit in beautifully.

Because it was a quiet news week for the Kings, Owen decides to spice things up with a quiz for Fong on the Kings, let's see how he does.

Afterwards, they recap the weekend of crazy news, Lakers end the Warrior's season on Friday and send them into the offseason with a lot of uncertainty. The looming decisions of Bob Myers and Draymond Green as well as what to do with Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson after a very poor playoff showing for both players will have a huge ramifications on the franchise for years to come. On the East Coast, the Celtics dominated the Sixers in game 7 and send the Sixers into an even more uncertain offseason where James Harden could leave as a free agent and Doc Rivers will be gone.

In other news, Monty Williams was fired after the Suns were beaten by the Nuggets in what was likely the first step of new owner Matt Ishbia's offseason plan of cleaning house. In addition, Ja Morant gets in hot water again by flashing a gun on Instagram Live again and has been suspending by the Grizzlies and will likely face a much more severe punishment by the NBA in the coming days.

And to end the podcast, the hosts talk about shows they've been watching what they plan to watching during the summer months.

We did the 5 best wins on the last episode, so it's only right we do the 5 worst losses of the season this episode. It was actually fun to go down memory lane for this season as we went through some of the losses that we had forgotten or blocked out of our minds. Going through these losses we not only relived some fun memories that were painful at the time but we also saw the journey of how far the Kings had come from those losses and they grew from them.

It's a fun one and there's plenty of stuff we found while going through these games.

After that we talk about Fox and Sabonis making the All NBA 3rd Team, and close it out talking about the rest of the Conference Semi-finals.

This was actually a tough list to make, because for the 1st time in almost 2 decades, the Kings won more games than they lost, and substantially more. It was to reiterate for the thousandth time, a magical season for the Kings and what better way to look back at the season than to go through their season and pick out our 5 best wins of the season.
